Chapter 2 : Elric

After about 13 years of living in this place it we were informed that in over a year or lesser we would be leaving Verdaneth.

It had been a few weeks since the test and one of the wards of Verdaneth Haven had achieved a perfecf awakening.

Kade was a kid who always wondered what was beyond the forest of Verdaneth Haven and the skies of Verdaneth. Kade was the opponent of Casper in the physical test who was beaten by Casper with minimal effort. One thing special about Kade's appearance was that he had extremely pale skin, Light blond hair and bright blue eyes. Even thoigh many complimented Kade for his looks, he hated it more than anything. Kade and Elric used to be friends, but a few years ago they drifted apart .Elric became upset whenever anyone mentioned Kade.After parting from Kade,Elric always believed something was wrong with the Verdaneth Haven.

It was the day after the full moon and students were divided based on their capabilities and potential. Each class were given tests and trainings to enhance them in every aspect. The most talented students were placed in a separate block in the east of Verdaneth Haven. I,Casper,Elric and Kade were all in the Zenith class. When Elric saw Kade in the same class as us, he was both shocked and confused. After the theory classes were over Elric ran out. I followed Elric and asked,"What's wrong?Is it about Kade?"

Elric shouted," I had made a promise to Kade but.t...t..t...." and he started crying out loud. Elric stopped himself and told me,"This is not home". Elric knew something that we did not. Elric removed his shirt and turned around, he had a very big scar in his back. His scar was like a drawing carved out using a sharp pen. The drawing of the Blood Eyed Monarch, the king that ruled all of the eight great planets(The Octavia). Even though he lived about 1000 years ago, he is still remembered around all the eight planets. Elric stuttered,"They can hear us". I wanted to ask him who he was talking about but Elric stepped towards me and covered my mouth with his hands and hugged me. While he was sobbing on my shoulder he muttered,"S..s..sorry....help". Even though i was very confused but i knew one thing and it was Elric was lonely all these years and was struggling with some horrible memories. Casper, who was searching for us both came to witness Elric passed out on me. We carried Elric to our room. Casper asked,"Theo,What happened to Elric". When we woke up yesterday Elric was missing. We both rushed to see where Elric was but we were not able to find him. We had no other choice but to go to Kade. When we asked Kade about Elric, he signalled us to stay quiet. Kade asked me,"Do you remember Varkos?"

I answered,"Varkos??? The previous head warden that was promoted to the Quartz Emperor's palace?'.

He replied,"Yes, Varkos was the only warden in the Verdaneth Haven to achieve a perfect awakening. He can hear."

That is when i realised that Varkos, the previous head warden had the ability to hear any sound in the Verdaneth Haven and beyond. We never knew what happened to Varkos, many say he was killed by Orvell and some say he was promoted to the King's. From what Kade said the he was most probably captured by Orvell and is hidden in the Verdaneth Haven or its Forests. After i had realised all this i ran to Kade and asked,"Should we find him?"

Kade with a hint of excitement in his face affirmed.

As we were all talking about how we were going to find Varkos and Elric,I told Casper to use his abilities

Casper summoned the Queen of Netherflares and closed his eyes and the Queen flew high, Casper opened his eyes and it was glowing blue. Casper shouted,"Under the Haven". Kade was pretty surprised. There must be an entrance to the underground in our Hostel. Even though Casper could find people and other creatures he was not able to find the entrance. Kade told me,"If that place was very important is not to be found by students, then the entrance must be located in a place where students can't go but the wardens.The forbidden part of the forest is where it must be". The forbidden part of the forest in inhabited by strong creatures and is located in the south of the Verdaneth Haven.

Casper said,"we can go there tomorrow". The next day when Casper tried to scan the forbidden forest, a strong aura restricted him from seeing properly.

Despite this we still entered the forest. Kade was an awakened person that was not registered, he wantedly avoided telling it to wardens. When a man-eating giant spider attacked us, Kade blew a bubble from his mouth and the bubble moved towards the spider. When the bubble touched the spider's legs it popped with an explosion, which made the spider to lose two of its legs.Even though Kade was not perfectly awakened, he was still strong enough to defeat a creature of the Forbidden forest with just two attack the other one was targeted to the spider's head. Casper was able to fight pretty good too. I was left alone. I wanted to be useful to my friends, and find Elric. I shouted,"The next creature we encounter is mine and mine alone".

And the next creature was the strongest creature we have learned about, the horned green giant. It stood at a surprising 12 feet. The one we encountered carried a club with it that was as tall as us. The monster without thinking swinged its club at us and Kade created a bubble that absorbed the impact. Kade and Casper backed off due to the fuss i caused a few minutes back. I started punching its fat legs again and again with all my strength. But it did not move a bit, it threw me away using the club. The hit already made blood flow from my mouth. Kade was concerned and asked if he could help. I yelled,"NOOO!!". I was not ready to give up yet. I ran towards the monster again and grabbed the monter legs, the monster smashed me with its hands. Every attack of mine did no damage to the monster. Casper believed in me even though i was in a very miserable condition. When i passed out i remembered everything about Elric. My body started to heat up including the surroundings. I was able to move faster. The monster swinged its club at be again, but i was able to catch the club this time, and i snatched it from the monster. The monster was frustrated as the club was burnt to ashes. The monster tried to crush me within its hands but i blocked it with my arms. The heat from my body increased and the monster could not endure the pain so it took its hands away. Just as it was trying to cool down i started punching in it's abdomen. And i jumped and kicked in its face just near the ear. The monster collapsed and Kade was pretty impressed. My clothes were covered in blood due to the battle with the monster.

It was already night when he had defeated the monster and Casper had already healed me. We stayed there that night. In the night Casper and Kade were going somewhere, i followed them to find out they were healing the monster and tried to capture it. When i asked Kade what was happening,he told,"He could help"

I asked,"can he understand us?".

He replied,"Probably Not"

Casper interrupted," Netherflares can help with communication with decently smart beings for my amount of aura".

The next morning the creature woke up, only to realise he had been captured by some human kids.

When Casper translated the creature said,"HUMANS...DANGER...KILL".

Kade told,"He is like any other wild animal, he considers us as a threat".

Casper expanded his soothing aura and focused it towards the creature which made the creature a relaxed. And Casper told,"Friends?"

The monster answered,"Yah" and started giggling.

The monster told its name was Brayhorn. Brayhorn was still young for his species. Brayhorn told that he knew about the entrance to somewhere in the forest. Brayhorn took us there. Brayhorn told," I have to go now, Father will be waiting". Hearing the word 'Father' was a bit weird. Brayhorn disappered into the forests which will become deeper and deeper with very huge trees. Kade blew a bubble that was as big as his head to blow the entrance to the underground. The bubble hit the entrance and caused a explosion that pushed us all back. We jumped into the underground compartment of Verdaneth Haven.
