Chapter 22

Dominic gripped the steering wheel with one hand, while the other rested on his knee. "Going back to a normal life like this, pretending as if nothing ever happened in our lives."

Amelia fell silent again, trying to understand Dominic's words. After all the chaos, all the tension, and all the struggles they had been through, they were now back in a world where office work, meetings, and emails were the main priorities of their lives. Most importantly, there were no more gunshots echoing in the background.

"Not completely normal," Amelia murmured at last. "I still feel like there's something unfinished inside me."

Dominic nodded slowly. "Me too."

Amelia turned to look at him. "You're not coming upstairs?" she asked, half-joking.
