Chapter 33: Gwen’s Fiery Temper

Although Gwen found that bat guy somewhat annoying, she had to admit that having someone like him as a teammate made many things much easier and more reliable.

Suddenly, she felt that having a teammate might not be such a bad thing after all.

Of course, not a teammate like the bat.

Who knew what kind of schemes he might be plotting behind their backs?

That guy clearly didn't trust anyone at all.

"Alright, let's get to work now," Gwen turned and called out to Peter Parker, who had already taken care of the foot soldiers of Oak Max in the distance.

Peter Parker gave her an "OK" gesture, then shot a web from his wrist and swung toward the ceiling.

"OK, OK, now let's see if this little thing is real or not," Peter said effortlessly as he found the control panel used to modify the collider.

Just as he pried open the cover concealing the panel, his Spider-Sense flared up.

"Well, I knew it," Peter sighed, already used to this kind of scenario.

"Heroes always get interrupted by villains right before they succeed, don't they? Prowler!"

Peter looked at the figure diving toward him at high speed, his face full of exasperation.

But it was clear that Prowler had no intention of talking.

The expression hidden beneath his purple mask was deadly serious, his intense gaze piercing through the lenses.

"Can't you guys just stay out of the way and let me finish this?"

Without hesitation, Prowler grabbed Peter by the throat and shoved him away from the control panel.

With Peter thrown aside, Gwen naturally stepped up to take his place.

Both she and Peter had a key, though they weren't sure which one was real. At least now, they had a second chance.

"Come on," Gwen muttered anxiously, inserting her key into the control panel.

But nothing happened.

The key the bat had given her was fake.

"Oh, damn you, Bat!"

Frustrated, Gwen yanked out the fake key and crushed it into pieces.

She had suspected her key might be a fake, but seeing it confirmed right in front of her was still hard to swallow.

Right now, her only option was to get the other key from Peter.

Or have Peter try his key himself to see if it was real.

"I'll handle Peter's problem. You go try the key!"

Gwen was fuming, and in a burst of speed, she shot out a web, propelling herself forward at an astonishing velocity.

With a powerful kick to Prowler's back, she sent him flying—even though he was using high-tech gear that let him move effortlessly even while hanging upside down from the ceiling.

"So yours was fake," Peter deduced from Gwen's reaction.

Did that mean his key was the real one?

"Looks like the bat has a bit of a soft spot after all," Peter remarked.

Gwen immediately shot him a glare.

The way he said it made it sound like the bat trusted him more than the rest of the Spider-People.

Gwen was already showing remarkable restraint by not punching him on the spot.

Realizing his mistake, Peter quickly flashed an awkward smile at her—then made a hasty retreat from the battlefield.

The Prowler Returns

"I'm really pissed off right now!" Gwen had never been toyed with like this before. In her mind, the Prowler standing in front of her had already transformed into that damn bat.

The Prowler, however, had no idea what was coming.

His only objective was to take down these unlucky Spider-People once and for all.

Even though his allies seemed to be having some issues, he never really needed teammates anyway.

His swift, ninja-like movements made him look even more terrifying.

But to Gwen, none of that mattered.

Right now, she wasn't fighting the Prowler—she was fighting that cursed bat.

Just as the Prowler raised his razor-sharp claws, ready to strike, the white-clad Spider-Woman in front of him suddenly vanished.

In her place, a ballet shoe-clad foot came crashing into his waist.

Even though Gwen's strength was considered the weakest among the Spider-People, her kick still sent a sharp jolt of pain through the Prowler.

Meanwhile, the other Spider-People, now free to move, watched the battle unfold on the ceiling with a mix of awe and caution.

"Did someone piss her off?" Spider-Noir mused. It was clear that Gwen wasn't just fighting like before—she was genuinely enraged.

Peni Parker, however, had already noticed Peter Parker reaching the control panel.

"It's probably the bat," she remarked, pinpointing the real reason behind Gwen's fury.

At the mention of the bat, Spider-Noir suddenly felt like everything made sense.

But then, under their watchful eyes, Peter Parker angrily crushed his own key.

"Should we, uh… warn the bat? He might be in serious trouble soon," Spider-Ham suggested hesitantly.

"I think you should be more worried about yourselves."

A deep, menacing voice interrupted them.

A figure, grotesquely modified through extreme bio-enhancements, emerged before them.

Scorpion.

His expression showed no hint of amusement—only sheer delight at the sight of three Spider-People standing before him.

It was as if he could already picture himself tearing them apart.

Spider-Noir immediately took up a combat stance.

"Looks like we never really settled things last time."

"This time, it's not about settling anything. This time, you're going to die here," Scorpion sneered viciously before lunging at them with his four mechanical legs.

Meanwhile, across the lab, Wilson Fisk roared in fury.

"Why don't you so-called heroes come out and face me?! Are you only capable of hiding like cowards?"

His rage threatened to set the entire lab ablaze.

He had been so close—so close—to bringing his family back.

And now, because of one meddlesome fool, his perfect plan was in shambles.

How could he not be furious?
