Chapter 32: The Unexpected Encounter
Emma's eyes locked onto Elizabeth's, a shiver running down her spine. What was she doing here?
Elizabeth smiled, her eyes glinting with amusement. "Well, well, well," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Look what we have here."
Alex stepped forward, his eyes narrowing. "What do you want, Elizabeth?" he growled.
Elizabeth chuckled, her eyes never leaving Emma's face. "Oh, I think you know exactly what I want," she said. "I want Emma."
Emma's instincts flared, and she took a step back, her eyes darting to Alex. But to her surprise, Alex didn't move. He just stood there, his eyes fixed on Elizabeth.
"You're not taking her anywhere," Alex said, his voice firm.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on her lips. "Oh, I think I am," she said. "You see, Emma is very special. She has a certain...gift."
Emma's heart was racing now, her mind racing with possibilities. What gift was Elizabeth talking about?
And then, in a flash of insight, Emma remembered. The prophecy. The one that spoke of a powerful vampire, one who would bring about a new era.
It was her. Emma was the one.
