Chapter 9: The School Festival Preparations

With the school festival approaching, Mahiru and I were assigned to the same committee. Working together was easy, but it came with its fair share of teasing from classmates.

"You two are basically a married couple," Kadowaki commented, smirking.

Mahiru, as composed as ever, simply smiled. "We just work well together."

I, on the other hand, nearly choked on my drink. Married couple? If only they knew how much that thought flustered me.

The class had decided on a café theme, and naturally, Mahiru's presence as a waitress was highly anticipated. "You're going to be the main attraction," I pointed out as we organized supplies.

Mahiru sighed. "I don't really like being the center of attention."

I reached out and gently squeezed her hand. "If it gets overwhelming, I'll be right there."

Her eyes softened, and she nodded. "Thank you, Amane."
