Chapter 82: Seizing Control

Chapter 82: Seizing Control

The city's nightscape stretched below Raizen as he stood atop a high-rise overlooking the sector. The lights flickered in patches, a reflection of the power struggles that continued to shift beneath the surface. Mouren's fall had sent shockwaves through the underworld, leaving a power vacuum that threatened to throw everything into chaos. He had no intention of letting that happen.

Liana's voice crackled through his earpiece. "Raizen, we've pinpointed Mouren's last operational facilities. If we don't take them now, another faction will."

Raizen exhaled, golden eyes gleaming. "Then let's move."

He leaped from the rooftop, Draconic Step activating as he propelled himself toward the industrial complex below. Joran, Kain, and a small team of mercenaries moved into position, ready to execute a clean takeover.

Inside the facility, the remaining Mouren loyalists were scrambling. Their leader was dead, their support was gone, and yet, desperation made them dangerous. As Raizen entered the complex, the defenders opened fire. He moved like a phantom, weaving through the hail of bullets, his energy blade igniting in a streak of red light.

The first enemy went down with a single strike, his armor carved through effortlessly. The second barely had time to scream before Raizen's gauntlet-enhanced punch crushed his ribs, sending him crashing into a control panel.

Joran and Kain swept in behind him, clearing the left flank with precise gunfire and brutal efficiency. Liana's hacks disabled the facility's automated defenses, leaving only scattered resistance.

Within minutes, the battle was over.

Raizen strode toward the central command hub, where Mouren's last remaining officers huddled in fear. One of them, a middle-aged man with a scarred face, tried to bargain. "We can still be useful!"

Raizen didn't even slow down. His Draconic Aura flared, and in an instant, the man collapsed to his knees, gasping for breath under the crushing weight of Raizen's presence.

"I don't need your permission to take what's already mine," Raizen said coldly.

Liana's voice came through again. "We've decrypted part of Mouren's off-world contacts. There's a buyer interested in the assets he left behind. A Tier-5 merchant lord."

Raizen smirked. "Then it's time we introduce ourselves."

As the facility's systems came under his control, Raizen looked toward the stars above, knowing this was just the beginning of his next move.
