Chapter 127: Bloodlines and Secrets
Raizen's gaze locked onto the crimson-eyed woman, his senses on high alert. She stood with confidence, her smirk unwavering as if she knew more about him than she should.
He crossed his arms. "You have my attention. Start talking."
The woman tilted her head slightly. "Your bloodline is waking up, isn't it? The Draconic energy within you—it's not just strong, it's ancient."
Raizen narrowed his eyes. "And you would know this how?"
She took a step closer. "Because I've seen it before."
The revelation sent a jolt through him. Someone else with knowledge of his bloodline? That was a rarity. "Who are you?"
The woman smiled. "Call me Nyx."
A Deal with Nyx
Selara, who had been quietly observing, stepped forward. "And what exactly do you want with him?"
Nyx shifted her gaze to Selara. "I don't want anything. But others do. The faction that's been hunting you? They know about your bloodline too."
Raizen clenched his fists. "What do they want?"
Nyx's expression darkened. "To control it. Or to eliminate it."
The words hung in the air. Raizen had suspected something like this, but hearing it confirmed sent a spark of anger through him.
Kain's voice crackled over the comms. "Raizen, we've got a lead on fuel and supplies. You done yet?"
Raizen kept his eyes on Nyx. "Not yet. Meet me at the docking bay in an hour."
Nyx smirked. "Smart. You don't trust me yet."
Raizen gave a half-smile. "You're catching on."
Nyx chuckled. "Then let me make it simple. I have information. You have power. We can help each other."
Raizen considered it. She was right about one thing—he needed information. And if she truly knew about his bloodline, she was worth keeping close.
Finally, he nodded. "Fine. But if you try anything, you'll regret it."
Nyx grinned. "Wouldn't have it any other way."
Next Steps
As they walked back toward the market district, Selara glanced at Raizen. "Are you sure about this?"
Raizen exhaled. "No. But I need answers."
The trade hub was only a stop on their journey, but Raizen could feel it—things were about to change.
And he would be ready.
