Chapter 159: The Fractured Front

Chapter 159: The Fractured Front

The Revenant glided through hyperspace, its engines burning bright as the crew prepared for their next strike. The destruction of the Syndicate's weapons depot had sent shockwaves through enemy ranks, disrupting their supply lines and triggering panic among their commanders. But Raizen knew the Syndicate wasn't finished—they were regrouping, and their counterattack would be brutal.

Raizen stood in the war room, studying the new fleet movements on the holographic display. "They're pulling reinforcements from nearby sectors," Liana reported. "If we move fast, we can catch them before they consolidate their forces."

Nyx flicked through layers of tactical data. "Or we can use this chaos to our advantage. Hit their communication relays, cut them off from each other."

Raizen smirked. "Divide and conquer. I like it."

Lylith stepped forward, her face tense. "But be careful. The more pressure we apply, the more unpredictable their leaders will become. The Syndicate's inner circle isn't known for restraint."

Raizen's golden eyes gleamed with determination. "Good. Let them lose control."

Breaking the Lines

The Revenant dropped out of hyperspace into the debris-strewn outskirts of a Syndicate-controlled sector. The comm relay they targeted floated in the distance—a towering structure guarded by a network of smaller frigates.

"Stealth mode engaged," Liana confirmed. "They don't see us yet."

"Lylith, take out their comm towers," Raizen ordered. "Joran, prep the strike teams. I want boots on that relay in ten."

As Lylith disappeared into the shadows, Nyx cracked her knuckles. "Let's see how blind they get when their signals go dark."

The Revenant surged forward, weapons primed. As Lylith disabled the station's external sensors, the ship's plasma cannons fired, slicing through the outer defense frigates. Explosions rippled across the void.

Selara and Joran led boarding teams into the relay, cutting through Syndicate enforcers in brutal close-quarters combat. Inside the control room, Raizen moved with lethal precision, his energy blade leaving a trail of scorched metal and bodies in his wake.

"Plant the charges," Raizen barked.

Selara set explosives along the relay's power core. "This whole place is going down."

"Good," Raizen replied. "Let the galaxy see the smoke."

The team retreated moments before the relay detonated, the explosion lighting up the sector as Syndicate forces scrambled in disarray.

Ripples of Chaos

Back on the Revenant, Nyx reviewed intercepted Syndicate transmissions. "They're falling apart. Fleet commanders are turning on each other, blaming internal sabotage."

Raizen grinned. "Exactly what we needed."

Lylith, however, didn't look as pleased. "They'll retaliate. Hard."

Raizen leaned back in his chair. "Let them. We'll be ready."

Moments later, a priority transmission flickered onto the screen—an encrypted message from an unexpected source.

A shadowed figure appeared, their voice distorted. "Raizen Izumoto, your crusade has caught the attention of forces beyond the Syndicate. There are those who would see your war succeed... and others who will stop at nothing to end it."

Raizen narrowed his eyes. "Who are you?"

But the message cut out before he could get an answer.

Liana frowned. "That wasn't Syndicate encryption."

Nyx's fingers danced over her console. "No, it was something else—something older."

Raizen stood, the weight of the galaxy settling heavier on his shoulders. "Then it's time we found out who else is playing this game."

The Revenant vanished into hyperspace, chasing answers that could change the course of the war.
