Year 0001, The Imperium
---
After a while the sun rose high on the sky, I crawled out the shade of the tree. My lips was parched and I feel emaciated from not eating.
I went pass the rotting corpse of my family and went inside our home to scour for food hoping those bastards missed our hidden cellar.
It was wise of the first generation to build a hidden one a long time ago. It was as if they knew that a time like this would come.
I crawled for a while only resting to catch my breath and wince in pain from my wounds and broken bones.
I gritted my teeth until I reached the hidden compartment. I rolled and fell on the ground, a painful moan escaped from me " *argghh!* "
After a moment of rest I gritted my teeth and began my search for food. The nearest from me was a dried salted meat from one of our livestocks that we butchered a couple days ago.
*whooo* Tears pooled beneath my eyes remembering that day and what occured a few days later.
But as if I was in and out of my delirium, "Yes!!!!" a jubilated yet weak voice escaped my mouth.
I was happy that they did not find this one and only rummaged through our kitchen, I mean they would not have expected this dirt poor uneducated village to have a built a cellar.
The old folks were forward looking, truly I thank them now more than ever!
---
I made my self sit up from my prone position, it took me a while to do that though with each movement that feels very painful.
I pounced upon the salted meat, but because of my current state and delirium I forgot that I haven't drank any fluid yet. It only made me more thirsty.
My throat dried and a small curse escaped from me, " *damnit! ".
Yep that was indeed stupid of me...
So I crawled back up from the cellar, I brought the meat with me of course. I went back outside to the nearest well.
There were at least three in our community if you don't include the one from the Chiefs house. That is indeed a lot for this tiny village, but this was made by the old folks to combat the dry season. Since the nearest river is quite a walk from us.
---
When I reached the nearby well after a minute of crawling, wincing in pain of course. I looked down to make sure that there was still water. And yes there was, that good delicious looking liquid that fuels us living things!
I threw the bucket down the well and pulled with all my strenth as hard as I could only stopping to catch my painful breath.
I drank like there was no tomorrow.
Well that would have been me if the wolves found my (carcass) before the other village folk. Luckily for me they were nearer the entrance of the village.
After the satisfying drink, I took another bucket from the well and washed my body from my own blood. Fortunately for me I have no open wounds, maybe broken ribs and bruises and internal bleeding!
But no massive open wounds only mild ones that have long clotted or would have otherwise rotted and maggots would have been eating me alive! (half dead).
I could feel pain and comfort at the same time after cleaning myself.
---
After this moment of refuge I went back to the comfort of my home or what is left of it. I need to think my next steps while recuperating from my sustained injuries.
August fell asleep and upon waking up the following dawn.
