Adrian and Rex moved swiftly through the alleys, the night their only cover.
"Enemy drone signal detected."
The AI's warning made Adrian freeze. He looked up—a faint red light blinked in the sky. Surveillance drone.
"Shit, they sent drones," Rex muttered.
Adrian tightened his grip on his weapon as the AI calculated an escape route.
"Recommendation: Stay low, enter the abandoned building to the east, evacuate through underground tunnels."
"Follow me," Adrian whispered, leading the way into a crumbling structure.
They moved cautiously through the ruined hallways. Shattered glass littered the floor, making every step a potential giveaway.
Whirr—
The drone's engine noise grew louder. Its searchlight swept the walls, barely ten meters away.
Adrian held his breath as the AI's message flashed in his mind—
"Hold position. High acoustic resonance in area—movement may trigger detection."
Both men crouched, staying motionless as the searchlight passed over their hiding spot.
Seconds later, the drone drifted away.
"Damn," Rex exhaled, "Where the hell did you get this AI? It's like having a war god in your head."
"Long story. Let's stay focused," Adrian murmured.
They pressed on and finally found a way down—a damaged drainage tunnel.
"600 meters ahead, possible safe exit."
Adrian nodded. Without hesitation, they slipped into the tunnel, vanishing into the darkness.
