Chapter 10 Infant-like Sleep (Please Follow)

Fang Cheng watched as those three guys asked the nurse for names and then headed towards a certain patient room.

Turning his head, he found Li Dingjian had run back to the clothes drying area again.

He leaned back against the window, a cigarette between his fingers, looking thoughtful beneath a pair of red underwear.

"Uncle, why did you start smoking again?"

"It's nothing, you go check on grandpa first. I just couldn't resist the urge to smoke, hehe…"

Li Dingjian chuckled awkwardly, his eyes flickering with a sneaky look, quickly glancing back.

Fang Cheng gave him a suspicious look, then headed to his grandpa's room alone.

As the oncology ward, the atmosphere here was noticeably more oppressive and solemn than other floors.

Everyone he encountered was furrowing their brows, silently rushing by with water bottles, bedpans, or report sheets in hand.

When Fang Cheng passed by the nurse's station, another commotion arose, shattering the heavy mood.

It sounded like someone was shouting, swearing, and fighting, mixed with the heart-wrenching cries of a child.

"Please, I'm begging you, please stop hitting!"

"Brother Ma, just give me a little more time, I promise I'll repay everything with interest, won't be late again!"

The noise came from room 803.

It was very close to grandpa's room, just two doors away.

Then a loud "bang" sounded as that room's door was kicked open roughly.

A short blond guy grabbed a young woman by the hair and forcibly dragged her out of the room.

The young woman was disheveled, her hair wild, flailing her arms, trying to get up and protect her child being carried away by another person.

It was those three guys who looked like gangsters, clashing with the patient's family.

A burly man in a black bounce shirt walked out last, clutching the skinny neck of a man with one hand.

The man's face was red with exertion, his hands weakly beating the air as if tickling.

This scene drew other visiting family members out to watch, gathering in the hallway.

Some nurses were at a loss, others quickly dialed for the security guard.

Fang Cheng stood among the crowd, silently observing.

He had seen this couple a few times before.

The husband was a truck driver, the wife had quit her job to take care of their child with leukemia, providing constant care.

Since their room was close to grandpa's and they had both been hospitalized for a long time, they would occasionally drop by, which made them quite familiar.

Fang Cheng had heard from his mother that their child's chemotherapy alone had cost tens of thousands.

And to complete the entire treatment and surgery, at least more than three hundred thousand would be needed, a burden several times heavier than his own family's.

Presumably, they had no other choice but to borrow money from a loan-sharking firm with gang ties to gather the medical fees.

The wife suddenly broke free like a madwoman, rushing towards the man in the bounce shirt, clinging desperately to his legs.

"Big brother, please, give us a little more time. My son is about to have a bone marrow transplant soon, he absolutely can't afford any trouble right now!"

"Sigh—"

The burly man showed a troubled look, sighing:

"Sister, begging me is useless, the boss gave a strict order, we are just workers, and this is tough for us, too."

Turning his head to the man whose neck he was holding, he loosened his grip, then continued:

"How about this, you first settle the interest, so that I have something to report when I go back."

The husband coughed violently a few times, gasping for air, stutteringly said:

"But, the interest is so high, more than forty thousand, and we're still so far from having enough for the surgery fee..."

"Yingjun, Ah Dong!"

The burly man, dissatisfied, ordered the two energetic young men to continue their rough tactics.

The husband quickly shielded his wife with his body and dropped to his knees on the ground.

"Brother Ma, if there's a problem, take it out on me, please don't hurt my wife and child!"

"I... I really got in touch with a boss, I can sell a kidney to them, as long as I can successfully get the money, cure my child's illness, the rest will all go to you..."

At this point, security had arrived, carrying batons and demanding to know what happened.

The one called "Yingjun," the blond guy, immediately stepped forward, flashing a switchblade and fiercely threatening:

"I warn you not to meddle in our business, if we don't get the money today, we're going to be urgent with everyone!"

The group of security guards showed fear, just repeatedly trying to calm everyone down:

"Everybody, please stay calm, stay calm."

Aside from these words, they had no strategy to deal with the situation.

Fang Cheng stared intently at the three trouble-making gang members.

He heard a few weak coughs from behind him coming from inside a hospital room, his brows furrowed even more.

That was his grandpa's voice; he must have been woken up by the noise.

"This bunch of idiots, can't even handle a few hooligans."

From the back of the crowd, Li Dingjian was peering out, muttering under his breath.

He also deliberately wore a medical mask, looking secretive and sneaky.

"Uncle, how much do they earn in a month? If it were you, would you dare go up?"

A nurse nearby couldn't help but retort.

A family member of another patient seemed to empathize, also sighing incessantly:

"Sigh, all just unfortunate people…"

Although the onlookers were sympathetic, they just whispered a few words of disapproval, none daring to step forward.

The man in the bounce shirt sized up the situation, furrowed his brow, and issued a final ultimatum:

"Alright, we'll take the child with us as a guest for now. When you have enough money, come pick him up."

"Don't do this, Brother Ma, I'm begging you, please be kind!"

"My little Bao, my little Bao—"

The young couple screamed hoarsely, desperately trying to snatch their child back.

"Let go, damn it, all of you just f**k off!"

Brother Ma's two underlings, also irritated, kept kicking at the couple and intimidating the guards to clear the way.

The child in patient garb appeared somewhat naive and bewildered but knew that his parents were being hit.

And so he wept bitterly in the arms of a stranger, his little face streaked with tears.

Amidst this chaos, suddenly—

a voice called out:

"Hey, can you guys keep it down?!"

This voice was not loud, yet it pierced through the hustle and bustle of the hospital ward area like a sharp needle, reaching everyone's ears.

"Who? Who dares to mess with us?"

Huang Mao instantly looked around, still somewhat excited.

"I said—"

Fang Cheng stepped forward, revealing himself from the crowd.

"This is not a market, it's a hospital. Please be mindful and don't disturb the other patients' rest."

Huang Mao's brows shot up, his expression one of shock.

It seemed he recognized Fang Cheng as the pretty boy he had encountered earlier in the elevator.

"You want to act tough? I'll teach you a lesson first!"

As he walked toward Fang Cheng, he flipped the switchblade in his hand, putting on a hoodlum's air.

Fang Cheng remained calm, showing no signs of fear.

On the contrary, his eyes flickered with anticipation and excitement.

He then raised his arms, adopting the classic boxing stance.

Huang Mao saw this and couldn't help but let out a sneer:

"Yo, learned some boxing, trying to disarm me barehanded? Want me to slash your face a few times?"

Fang Cheng's expression remained unmoved.

He simply mimicked a professional boxer, standing sideways with his elbows protecting his ribs, eyes fixed on the gleaming switchblade.

Once the opponent was about an arm's length away, his shoulder twitched and he suddenly advanced.

His right arm powered forward, and his fist, as quick as a bee sting, shot through the air towards the opponent's face.

Huang Mao had not expected him to be so brave.

He instinctively threw his head back and raised the switchblade, intending to slash Fang Cheng.

But this was just a feint!

Fang Cheng threw a fake punch with his left, swiftly pulling it back.

At the same time, his right leg shot up in a kick directly aiming for the opponent's groin.

"Fuck!"

Huang Mao's pupils dilated suddenly, and with his extensive fighting experience, he knew he had been tricked.

He hurriedly stuck out his butt to dodge this extremely insidious groin kick.

But now, taking advantage of his unsteady center of gravity, Fang Cheng reached out with his right hand, quickly grabbing the hand holding the knife.

Huang Mao was half a beat too slow to react, and by the time he came to, he found his wrist firmly gripped.

He looked up into Fang Cheng's eyes.

As if mocking, his gaze seemed to say, who told you a boxer can only use his fists?

"You motherfucker..."

He tried to resist, to fight back.

But he found Fang Cheng's fingers clamped around his wrist like iron tongs.

The more he struggled, the deeper they bit into his flesh, tightening around his bone as if they were about to break it.

The latter half of his curse was choked back into his throat.

Pain made him break out in cold sweat, and with his other hand, he frantically slapped his thigh, yelling again and again:

"Ah—let go quickly... let go!"

Snap.

The switchblade fell from Huang Mao's hand, hitting the ground.

Fang Cheng kicked the knife away with the tip of his foot before releasing his grip.

The "Iron Fist" effect greatly strengthened the bones and muscles in his hands.

This did not only make his fists harder but also logically improved his gripping and grabbing strength.

Twice the constitution of 11 points, which is the inhuman effect of 22 points constitution.

Fang Cheng surmised that even if he directly grabbed the blade with his hand, the injury he'd sustain would likely be minimal.

"Can we keep it down now?"

He cast his gaze down at the hoodlum kneeling before him, who continued to wail in pain.

"I'll give your grandpa a quiet,"

Huang Mao was still stubborn, cursing once before shakily reaching out with the right hand that bore a dark bruise imprint.

He tried to pick up the switchblade and make a few gestures again, clearly thinking that his opponent had been deceitful and won dishonorably.

Fang Cheng's gaze flashed upon seeing this, and his relaxed fingers clenched into a fist once again.

Bang!

With the sound of knuckles crashing against the jaw, Huang Mao, like a pendulum hit, fell straight back.

In an instant, he lay flat on the ground, as silent as if he had been given a dose of surgical anesthetic, no more noise coming out.

"Go to hell!"

Just then, a hot water bottle suddenly slammed over.

Seeing his companion defeated, another energetic young man, Adong, also abandoned the child and launched a sneak attack.

Fang Cheng leaned back and twisted his hips, crossing and changing his steps.

He deftly maneuvered to avoid the attack, swung to the weak side of the opponent, and struck out two punches in a reversed warrant posture.

Bang! Bang!

The hot water bottle fell and shattered into pieces on the ground.

Adong also clasped his abdomen and collapsed, sitting dejectedly.

His face contorted in pain, he continually retched and shed unstoppable tears.

Swing Punch, Butterfly Step, Liver Explosion Double Strike.

In just a few seconds, he had easily taken down two men, leaving only the muscular man in the bounce shirt still standing in place, bewildered.

Fang Cheng rubbed his wrist and asked once more:

"Are we quiet now?"

The room fell dead silent, no one responded.

The nurses, security guards, and patients' relatives all held their breath, staring at him dumbfounded.

At the same time, a line of prompt information appeared before Fang Cheng.

[You defeated two nameless fighters, boxing skills experience +25]

[Boxing lv1 (25/250)]

In this frozen atmosphere, the muscular man in the bounce shirt suddenly moved his body.

Then he stepped forward, walking toward Fang Cheng.
