Chapter 9

I looked at this adorable girl defending me so fiercely, and couldn't help but feel a warmth spreading through my heart.

Only she could be so genuinely devoted to me.

The onlookers, hearing Seraphina's harsh words, instantly panicked.

They hurriedly tried to shift the blame onto Callie:

"It's not our fault, it was all Callie and Donavan's doing!"

"How were we supposed to know Mr. Lincoln was really your fiancé? Even if we had ten times the guts, we wouldn't have dared if those two hadn't instigated it!"

Fearing Seraphina's retaliation, they all dropped to their knees in unison.

"We always just do whatever those two tell us to do. We were foolish and brainwashed by them!"

The arrogance and insolence from earlier had completely vanished from their faces, each of them now as timid as a scared puppy.

Some kowtowed, while others apologized profusely.

They cried their eyes out, afraid I wouldn't believe their performance.
