Chapter 9

That night, I was carrying the groceries I'd bought, intending to go home and treat myself to a nice homemade dinner, when I unexpectedly saw Everett waiting at my doorstep. I froze.

The moment he saw me, Everett's eyes actually turned red. He wanted to come forward and hug me, but seeing my cold expression, he awkwardly stood rooted to the spot.

"Delia, why didn't you tell me you were coming to England?"

"Do you know..."

Everett, who had always been so arrogant, actually choked up a bit as he spoke:

"When I rushed back and found you were gone, my heart felt empty."

I watched Everett's performance with no expression, feeling completely unmoved, and even wanted to laugh.

"Everett."

I calmly recounted the years of hurt I had endured.

"I loved you for ten years. Everyone said I had no shame, that I was throwing myself at you."
