Divine Mystic Technique

Eagan stood up, his eyes locking onto Miss Chloe's stern expression. "I'm ready," he said, his voice calm and resolute.

Ryker snickered, earning a warning glance from Miss Chloe. "Good luck, weakling. You'll need it." He mocked.

Ignoring the immature red-haired boy, Eagan walked forward and placed his hands on the crystal according to the memories from his past life.

Even without needing to check, he could already tell the crystal would remain the same. After all, at this point in his life, he could not feel any mana in his body.

How did that become popular knowledge that led to him being teased by his classmates?

Well, that would be blamed on the fact that he had a well-to-do older brother whose life and relationship always get targeted by the media.

Surprisingly, the crystal flickered. A faint, silvery light emanated, distinct from the regular colours. The light flickered several times, going from bright to dim before shutting off completely.

The classroom fell silent. Even Eagan couldn't believe his eyes at the situation.

"What's going on?' he asked in surprise.

Miss Chloe's brow furrowed. "That's... unusual."

Ryker snorted. "What's that supposed to be? He's not even a real Hunter. I'm surprised the crystal even turned on to begin with!"

Eagan's eyes narrowed. "What does it mean?" he asked Miss Chloe, ignoring Ryker and his childish provocation.

"It's unclear; I mean, the light flickering is normal, given that you have little to no mana. But," she paused, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "The Oracle hasn't displayed this colour before. Your affinity is... unknown."

"Miss Chloe, is there a misunderstanding?" Anne, the class president, stood up. "Everyone knows Eagan is just a regular person; shouldn't the flickrer confirm that?"

"Right!" Another joined it. "Or the device is broken? There's no way he would have a different colour if he were blessed with mana."

"Enough!" Miss Chloe exclaimed. "The device is not broken, and its readings are never wrong. The silvery light indicates an unknown affinity, which warrants further investigation."

Ryker scoffed. "Investigation? He's just a nobody, Miss Chloe. Why waste time?"

Miss Chloe's gaze silenced Ryker. "Every student deserves equal attention and consideration. Eagan's unique reading may hold significance."

"I will submit the report to the hunter association," Miss Chloe explained. "In the meantime, Eagan, you'll continue with your regular studies as usual until we know what group to place you in for combat training."

"Class dismissed, those of you who already know which hunter profession you belong to, go to your training centre for further instructions."

As the class dismissed, Eagan gathered his belongings, his mind swirling around the event that had happened since he opened his eyes.

As he walked out of the classroom, Ryker confronted him. "You think you're special now, don't you? With your fancy, unknown affinity?"

Pursing his lips, Eagan ignored him and tiredly walked past Ryker and his group, only for him to be pushed back. With Ryker's face in his. "How dare you walk away while we are still talking to you!" Ryker growled.

"Let go of me," Eagan breathed out calmly, his indifferent eyes meeting Ryker's angered ones.

"Or what?" Ryker scoffed. "You'll report us to your brother?"

"For the last time, let go of me," Eagan warned, his hand clenched beside him. Seeing the other hold remaining on his shirt Eagan threw a punch to his face.

Ryker's head snapped back, his nose bleeding. His eyes widened in shock.

"You...you actually hit me!" Ryker stammered.

Eagan's expression remained calm. "You should have let go."

Ryker's face twisted in rage as he punched forward. "You're going to regret this!"

Eagan stood firm, ready for a fight. But before Ryker could retaliate, a voice intervened.

"Enough!" The school's discipline master, Mr. Sam, appeared, his eyes stern. "What's going on here?"

Ryker pointed at Eagan. "He hit me!"

Mr. Sam's gaze shifted to Eagan. "Explain."

Eagan recounted the events, his voice even. He narrated the event as he remembered from his past life the reason for his bruised face and his dirty clothes and how the group had stopped him in the morning.

Mr Sam listened; the issue of Ryker's behaviour was well-known to the school board. However, the red-haired came from a renowned family in the city, and they were one of the academy's major sponsors, which was why they allowed him.

And even though Eagan's brother is also a renowned hunter, he isn't always around, and he isn't as powerful as the whole family.

At the end of the day, power with connection was more important in the world they lived in.

Mr. Sam's expression turned thoughtful. "Ryker, your family's influence won't protect you from disciplinary action. Eagan, your actions were justified, but I must still address the violence."

He paused, considering his next words. "Ryker and his group, three days' detention. Evan, one day's warning. Any further incidents will result in severe consequences."

Ryker's face reddened, while Eagan nodded calmly. As Mr. Sam walked away, Ryker glared at Eagan and entered the class.

Since he had no more class to attend for the rest of the day, Eagan got a pass and went home.

As usual, the house was quiet and neat since he was the only one who stayed home most of the time. Eagan dropped his bag on the floor, the silence of the house enveloping him. He walked to the kitchen, grabbing a glass of water from the fridge.

As he drank, the floating screen appeared in front of him again.

"You have received divine mystic breathing."

"You have received blood and marrow cleaning elixir."

"You have received a mana-gathering potion. Low grade"

Eagan's eyes widened as he stared at the floating screen.

'What is this again? A game?'

While pondering, another notification popped up. "Would you like to claim the quest props?"

"Yes!" He replied, and three bottles of potion appeared on the kitchen counter in front of him. Before he could be in awe of the strange phenomenon, several golden words floated out of the system and went into Eagan's brain.

Eagan doubled over in pain; the cup he was holding dropped and shattered.

Eagan's vision blurred as the golden words pierced his mind. The kitchen around him dissolved, replaced by an endless expanse of darkness.

A gentle, ethereal voice whispered, "Divine Mystic Breathing Technique... Awaken the Twelve Meridians."

Eagan's consciousness descended into his inner world. He saw a complex network of pathways, like delicate silk threads weaving through his body.

His mind focused on the technique, attempting to decipher the intricate patterns. The words became a mantra, echoing within his mind.

As he meditated, Eagan began to follow the instructions of the breathing technique. Following every detail like this life depended on it.

"Open... the... pathways," he whispered, sweat dripping from his brow as he continued to concentrate.

Pain erupted within his meridians, like a thousand needles piercing his flesh. His breath became ragged, barely able to keep up with the technique from the pain coursing through his body.

Hours passed, or perhaps days. Time lost meaning. During his meditation, he had subconsciously taken the three bottles of portions provided by the system to aid his task.

Eagan's body convulsed, his muscles screaming in protest. The burning sensation intensified as if his very marrow was being refined.

Suddenly, a faint, silvery light flickered within his mind.

A single pathway opened, like a delicate flower blooming. Like dominoes, several more pathways began to open one after the other.

Without wasting time, Eagan pulled in mana from the air around him and began channelling it through the pathways, trying to make sure it was no longer blocked.

As he successfully channelled the mana, Eagan let out an excited cheer. Slowly, using the memory from his past life, he created the hunter's core around his heart.

Eagan's eyes snapped open, gleaming with triumph. The kitchen reappeared around him, the shattered cup still on the floor. However, it was accompanied by the black, horrid-smelling liquid that he had sweated out during his meditation.

He flexed his fingers and summoned mana onto his palm in anticipation. As the silver light from the mana appeared, he couldn't hide his smile. "Yes! I can feel and use mana!"

His celebration was interrupted, and the floating screen appeared once again. "Congratulations on completing the first task! All rewards will be sent to the inbox."

"Your Divine Mystic Breathing Technique has reached beginner's level."

"New task: Enter a Rank E dungeon and kill ten monsters."
