The Hidden Quest

Alright. What the hell?

I stared at the Rusty Dagger in my inventory, my brain struggling to process.

I was supposed to get a Beginner's Sword from the slime quest. That's how it worked in every guide I watched. But instead? I got this old, beat-up dagger.

"Did I just get scammed… by an NPC?"

Maybe it was a bug? Or maybe this was part of the Beta Version that no one else had access to? Either way, I wasn't about to let this slide.

I turned on my heel and marched back to the quest NPC, ready to demand some answers.

---

"Hey, Old Man, What's Up With This Dagger?"

The old man—who had just a few minutes ago smiled cheerfully while giving me a fetch quest—suddenly froze the moment I held up the dagger.

His eyes widened.

For a second, I swore I saw emotion in his face—like he was remembering something.

"…That dagger…"

Okay. That was not normal NPC behavior i see in the tutorial.

"Uh, yeah," I said slowly. "You just gave it to me. You good?"

He didn't answer right away. Instead, he gently took the dagger from my hands, turning it over like he was inspecting an old friend.

"Where did you find this?" he murmured.

I blinked. "Again, YOU gave it to me."

The old man let out a soft chuckle. "So that's where it ended up…"

Okay. Nope. This was weird.

NPCs in beginner villages weren't supposed to have deep backstories. They were supposed to say one thing, loop their dialogue, and send you on your way.

But this guy? He looked like he was about to drop some tragic backstory on me.

And sure enough—

"I once wielded this dagger in my youth…" he said, his voice filled with nostalgia. "Back when I was an adventurer, before I became a simple guide for newcomers like yourself."

Wait. What.

That wasn't in any TWO tutorial video.

And before I could even process that, a new notification popped up.

[Hidden Quest: Restore the Blade]

Quest Type: Unique

Objective: Find a blacksmith capable of repairing the Rusty Dagger.

Reward: ???

Difficulty: Unknown

****

I froze.

"A hidden quest?"

I had spent weeks watching pro gamers break down every beginner route, every efficient strategy, and not a single one mentioned this.

I gulped.

Was this because of the Beta Version?

I looked back at the old man, who was still staring at the dagger like it held his entire life's regrets.

"You want me to fix this?" I asked.

He nodded. "I would, but my time as a warrior has long passed… Seek a blacksmith. Perhaps they can restore it to its former glory."

And just like that, my brain exploded with possibilities.

"This… Could Make Me Rich."

Let's think about this logically.

In every MMO, hidden quests usually meant insane rewards—rare weapons, secret items, or even unique skills.

If I was the first player to trigger this quest… then I might be sitting on something huge.

I felt my lips curl into a grin.

"Alright, Old Man," I said, accepting the quest. "Looks like I just found my first jackpot."
