Whispers of Trust and Uncertainty

As Miriel walked toward the women's bath with Kaela, neither of them had uttered a single word since they had left the training grounds.

It was easy to see that the girls were lost in thought after hearing Seraphina's words.

They almost bumped into several structures and people as they wandered aimlessly through the castle.

When they reached the bath, Kaela and Miriel undressed immediately, revealing their bodies, which were complete opposites yet equally attractive.

Miriel had a rather delicate figure, with moderately sized breasts but a round and perky rear—enough to balance a cup on it.

Kaela's body was more defined, with large breasts, a well-toned backside, and a well-defined six-pack.

As always, Miriel glanced at Kaela's body and wondered if she would also look better with a physique like that.

"I want to ask her to train me, but… I really love sweets," she thought bitterly.

—"You know, I've never been looked at like that before," Kaela suddenly said.

"Hmm?"

"She looked at us like we were treasures… It feels a little strange."

Miriel nodded, immediately understanding what Kaela meant.

Although they had grown up in different environments, the treatment they had received had been practically the same.

Neither of them had ever been seen as anything more than an unnecessary burden, so for Seraphina to suddenly start acting that way was quite strange.

The girls sat in silence once more, letting the steam and hot water envelop their alluring bodies in the hope that it would melt all their worries away.

—"I must admit, I'm a little scared…" Miriel said softly.

"Huh? Why? It's not even dark in here."

Kaela began looking frantically around the room, as if she expected to find some kind of boogeyman lurking in the bath with them.

Miriel had to admit that Kaela's playful nature made her easily likable.

"I'm already happy, and I feel like wanting more is selfish of me… I'm not even sure if I would be a good wife," she finally said.

Compared to her old life, being in Vegaon felt like a dream.

No one was going to hit her, no one would lock her in a closet for days, and she was allowed to do practically whatever she wanted.

Did she even have the right to want more?

She had never considered herself a greedy person, so naturally, she was more than content to live the rest of her days like this if necessary.

Suddenly, Miriel heard water splashing before two muscular arms wrapped around her.

Her eyes met Kaela's, and she had to admit that the gentle look on her first friend's face touched her deeply.

—"Are you afraid that we'll be discarded again?" Kaela's tone had become so calm and maternal that it was completely different from her usual way of speaking.

Kaela's unintentional words struck a nerve within Miriel, and before she realized it, small tears fell from her eyes.

Slowly, Kaela wiped Miriel's tears away with her clawed fingers before gently saying, "Our wife is not that kind of woman."

—"But how can you be sure?"

Miriel didn't want to be pessimistic, but a life of abuse had left her unable to believe that anyone could truly want her—much less someone like Seraphina, who clearly had a bright future ahead of her.

And even if she wanted her now, who was to say she would always want her?

"I don't want to know love if it doesn't last…"

Kaela remained silent for a while, and when she finally spoke, Miriel expected to hear some wise words or deep reflections.

"Hmm… How do I know? I can feel it in my bones!" she said proudly.

"…"

"...What?"

"...Nothing," Miriel murmured.

Kaela chuckled as she sensed that Miriel wasn't immediately comforted by her response. "Come here and let me wash your hair."

Miriel obeyed and sat between her friend's legs, allowing her to wash her hair while humming a soft and enchanting melody.

The young witch had to admit that this was helping to calm her nerves, even if just a little.

After finishing rinsing the soap from Miriel's hair, Kaela gave her a warm hug from behind. "Just trust me, but most importantly, trust our wife."

Those words echoed constantly in Miriel's young mind.

The rest of their time in the bath passed like that—both girls comforting each other without moving as they contemplated the possible future that awaited them.

As they dressed and prepared to meet Selene and Seraphina for dinner, Miriel finally made a resolution in her mind.

"I will trust her, but… it wouldn't hurt to make myself useful as well…"

Anything she could do to ensure a happy future, she would do without hesitation.

She only hoped her plan would go as expected.
