When Calcium put the finishing touch on the Tablet, the energy around her froze, and then gently dispersed, like a disappearing mist. Her palm no longer burned, and the light of the tattoo gradually faded.
She woke up, an icy wind whipped her cheeks.
Lian stood in front of her, clutching a sword in his hands, and fading shadows remained behind his back. Still breathing heavily, he turned to her, his brows furrowed.
[Congratulations.]
[ The side Story "Echoes of the Past" is completed.]
[You have received a new skill: "Rewriting Fate".]
[You have received an Artifact: "Seal of the Seer".]
Calcium looked at her hand in surprise. A small mark appeared on the inside of the wrist, resembling an interweaving of lines, similar to an eye surrounded by a mandala pattern.
[Artifact: "Seal of the Seer"]
[Description: Allows you to see hidden memories in the tablets without spending mana.
"Now I can see what's hidden in the tablets... without spending mana?"
It was incredibly valuable. Previously, browsing the deep layers of memory required too much energy, and she couldn't afford to use this ability often. Now the restriction has been lifted.
But the system is not finished yet.
[You have gained a new skill: "Rewriting Fate."]
[Description: Allows you to make small changes to the recorded history, affecting the fate of a person.]
Calcium froze.
"Influence fate...?"
She suddenly felt the weight of a new responsibility. Before that, she was just writing down stories, but now... now she had a tool that could change people's lives.
But within what limits? How big can the changes be?
Calcium clenched her hand into a fist, feeling the throbbing of a new skill.
"We need to deal with this later. But one thing I know for sure is that this power will make me even stronger."
She took a deep breath and turned her gaze to Lian, who was watching her with narrowed eyes.
–Is it over? - he asked.
Calcium nodded, hiding a slight tremor in her fingers.
–We can go now.
But even when they left the temple, the thought of "Rewriting Fate" did not leave her.
"I write down stories… But now I can change them. How far can this go?"
Calcium walked out of the temple, feeling the cold wind hit her face sharply, driving away the residual tension. The snow-white mountain peaks greeted her with their usual silence, but there were still echoes of recent events inside.
She stole a glance at her wrist, where the sign of the "Seal of the Seer" was now shining. The system was silent, but she felt that the changes had already begun.
Lian walked beside her, seemingly thinking about something of his own. He glanced at her a couple of times, but didn't ask any questions.
Perhaps because he knew that Calcium wouldn't tell him the whole truth anyway.
Unease was brewing inside her.
"If my strength has changed... will the quests from the system be different now?"
She mentally called up the interface.

Calcium clenched her fists.
"Rewriting Fate... how strong can the changes be?"
Before she could delve into her thoughts, a new system message flashed in front of her eyes:
[Main task: "The Secret of Stolen Knowledge" has been updated.]
[New goal: Find the next tablet. The trail leads to the city of Miran.]
Calcium squinted.
"Miran?"
She didn't know much about this city, but if the system was directing her there, it meant that a new round of history awaited her.
Lian, noticing her expression, finally spoke.:
– Are you up to something again?"
Calcium chuckled:
– As always. We need to go to Miran.
Lian sighed.
– Great. Another journey into the unknown.
But Calcium knew that now she had the power to not only record stories, but also... change them.
And that scared her the most.
Calcium tried to distract herself from her anxious thoughts, but the feeling of responsibility for her new strength would not let her go. When Lian was silent and the wind whistled among the rocks, she couldn't help but think that the future now depended on how she would use her abilities.
"I can change destinies... but how ready am I for these changes?"
She looked at Lian, who was walking next to her, and felt uneasy again. There was something... strange about his gaze.
He was calm, almost too calm, as if he knew something important but wasn't going to reveal it. Maybe she was wrong. But it would be foolish to trust someone so easily.
"After all, he might be hiding his own secrets..."
And now she was thinking again. What if her abilities at some point lead her to the need to rewrite not only someone else's fate, but also her own?
What if she finds herself in a situation where the choice is too difficult, and manipulating fate becomes the only way to survive?
Lian, as if reading her mind, turned back to her:
–You're completely lost in thought. We will reach Miran soon. We need to get ready.
Calcium nodded, trying to bring herself back to reality.
–I'm ready.– She said, although there was still an emptiness in her soul.
When they reached the foot of the mountains and began to descend into the valley, she felt the air change. The wind was getting warmer, and there were strange sounds like whispers in its branches. It was as if the world was preparing for something important.
And now they were standing at the gates of Miran City. The walls were high, covered with old stone, decorated with reliefs that, according to Lian, depicted the great battles of the past centuries.
The entrance was well guarded, and despite the evening, many guards were closely watching anyone who approached.
Calcium and Lian stopped at the gate when one of the guards noticed them and headed towards them. His expression was serious, but not hostile.
– Who are you and why did you come to Miran?– he asked, his gaze never leaving Lian.
Lian answered first, as usual.
– We are just looking for information about people and we know what the locals will tell us.
The guard nodded and seemed ready to let them go, but then his gaze landed on Calcium. He became wary.
– And you, girl, don't look like a local.– His eyes narrowed slightly: –Where did you come from?
Calcium didn't have time to answer, as Lian had already taxied out.
–She's with me....
The guard studied them both, but then nodded and stepped aside, giving the opportunity to go to the place where new knowledge and unexpected meetings were stored, where Calcium would become stronger.
