Chapter 24: The Conquest Begins
The night air was thick with tension as Lucian stood before his newly assembled followers. The bunker was secure, but it was only the first step in his path to domination.
Evelyn, standing at his side, scanned the group of survivors. Some still looked fearful, others desperate—but a select few had fire in their eyes.
Lucian smirked. Those were the ones he needed.
"Tomorrow," he announced, his crimson gaze piercing through them all, "we take our next target."
Murmurs rippled through the group. The weak hesitated. The strong grinned.
Lucian continued, his voice like steel. "There's a settlement just beyond the highway. They have food, weapons, and power."
A man stepped forward hesitantly. "B-But that place is run by the Vultures. They kill outsiders on sight."
Lucian's smirk widened. Perfect.
War on the Horizon
Evelyn flipped open a worn map, spreading it out on the bunker's old war table. "The Vultures control three buildings. Main base is here." She tapped a fortified warehouse. "They have watchtowers, snipers, and heavy firepower."
Lucian traced his fingers over the map, already planning. "How many men?"
"Thirty, maybe forty."
Lucian chuckled. "Not enough."
The room fell silent. The others stared in disbelief.
Evelyn, however, smiled. She knew better than to doubt him.
Lucian's power was growing.
And the more he killed, the stronger he became.
The Battle Begins
Dawn arrived.
Lucian led his squad through the ruins, silent shadows in the early morning mist. The Vultures' base loomed ahead—fortified but not unbreakable.
Evelyn crouched beside him, whispering, "How do you want to do this?"
Lucian smirked. Brutally.
The first explosion rocked the sky. Fire and smoke erupted from the outer wall. Panic spread through the enemy ranks.
Lucian moved like a predator. Silent. Deadly. Unstoppable.
Bullets tore through flesh. Screams filled the air.
Within minutes, the Vultures' defenses collapsed.
Their leader, a scarred brute named Riker, stumbled back, his rifle trembling. "W-Wait! We can talk—"
Lucian didn't let him finish.
With one swing of his blade, Riker's head hit the dirt.
Blood pooled at Lucian's feet.
Victory.
The Rise of a King
The survivors of the Vultures' base knelt before Lucian. Those who resisted lay dead in the dirt.
Evelyn stepped beside him, surveying the scene. "What now?"
Lucian gazed at the trembling survivors. "Now?" His smirk deepened. "Now, we build an empire."
The world was his for the taking.
And this was only the beginning.
