Chapter 5

"Who the fuck are you?!"

A voice so hoarse and croaky pierced through Eve's ears reminding him just what kind of hell he had walked into. It sounded as though the one speaking had been possessed by some kind of demon, as if he had long lost connection with any kind of humanity and rationality.

That, if he even had in the first place.

Eve could see nothing but darkness as the vile devil smothered him roughly into a mattress. Although Eve was unable to see his face, he could feel the rough hands on either side of his head, and the coldness coming from the body above him which held him firmly in place.

All of a sudden, he felt something icy locking around his wrist, but soon realised the locks were just hands.

Emotions suddenly became too hazy to explain, and the discomfort from all around him started to drown him. Eve struggled to breathe or even move because of the heavy and furious body that appeared ready to attack him.

It's as if the cold body above him was on full alert.

Eve didn't dare make any sound, because the whole new world of fear he had just discovered made it impossible for him to let out a signal noise out of his mouth. All he could do was groan in discomfort and try to fight back.

Though he should hurry because the menacingly deep and heavy breaths tripling over his face appeared to be running out of patience which is definitely not a good sign for a helpless and kind-hearted Eve.

A low and deep grunting sound resembling a wild animal erupted into the air sending goosebumps down Eve's entire writhing body.

He was desperately trying to escape. But, all his efforts were in vain. When he didn't quit moving, he felt a much heavier body pressing down on him that forced him to stop moving.

A hand colder than the ice came in contact with his hot skin and he shivered.

"Ahng!"

He gasped heavily as the air from his throat was cut when a strong and ragged hand abruptly came in contact with his neck with the intention of choking him to death. He whimpered from the suffocation, like a fish out of water.

He was on the verge of fainting but he fought against his consciousness and used his full strength, which failed again because he was again pushed further into the bed.

The larger body above him flipped him over onto his stomach, one hand slammed his face into the mattress brutally suffocating him, while grabbing Eve's wrist with the other hand and violently twisting it on his back, causing Eve to scream in agony.

Eve's struggles made matters worse for himself, as the devil disguised as a human twice his size drove insane from his actions.

"Quit struggling!" the gruff dead voice exclaimed firmly. The voice directly huffed beside his ears, even though his breath was cold.

What a dumb demand at a time like this.

However, not knowing who was strangling you in a dark closed room only tenfolds his nervousness. Eve's nerves couldn't handle the madness when he felt the whole body weighing down on his back. His heavy cries turned into bothersome wailings, tears rolled down his temple.

"Who are you?"

The devil became enraged by Eve's cries and squeezed his neck with his strong hand. Eve's writhing and whimpering changed into loud, obscene sobs, which made the devil let go of his hold on him slightly but kept holding on to it firmly.

"R-R-Room–r-roommate," Eve heaved aggressively for air.

And then silence, maybe for a few minutes.

Eve gave in helplessly, he closed his eyes exhaling a tormenting breath and his tormentor too didn't increase the pressure.

"How dare they give me a roommate?"

Eve, paralysed in place, couldn't do anything, didn't have the energy to move, speak, or to think properly. The last thing he remembered was the devil slipping away above him before his exhausted body drifted to unconsciousness.

 🐺🔪🙀

Dorm 3435.

Sage stormed into the room, slamming the door shut in River's face.

"What's paining you in the ass again?" River scoffed. His face was nothing like how it was a few moments ago in front of Eve. Now a firm scowl settled there.

He wanted to calm his roommate first but the latter didn't seem in the mood for it.

"Nothing! And that's the problem," Sage turned around with a bitter expression. River froze on the spot and gulped, his eyes turned dark as he saw the fire of desperation burning in his best friend's eyes.

An overwhelming wave of lust shoots through his eyes but he restrains himself to not to tackle the younger boy in front of him. "Wh-What?"

Sage looked him dead in the eyes and let out in a hushed voice. "Nothing is paining me in the ass and that's the problem."

River couldn't move or take his eyes off the beautiful boy. He has long ago given in and accepted that he has never seen anyone more gorgeous than Sage.

The boy was simply a sinful temptation.

His friend, his roommate.

His.

River took a few steps towards Sage, who was frozen on the spot with an angry expression, but River knew better than that. He knew Sage well enough to know the boy was feeling frustrated.

He stopped a few inches away from Sage's body and brought his hand to caress his face, making the other shudder. "Let me fix that. Let me fill your ass with pain mixed with pleasure."

River crashed their lips together but Sage pushed him away.

"Fuck off!"

Sage tried to sound convincing but River knew it was all a facade. "I agree to fuck you," he retorted back, bringing his fingers up to Sage's soft cheeks, caressing them gently.

Sage couldn't stop the groans from escaping his lips, not when the fingers he loves so much were touching him. He bit his lips and turned his face away, but that didn't stop River, he pulled Sage back by his chin and smashed their lips together again.

Sage's knees started to shake. He felt River's tongue swiping his lower lip and the moment he opened his mouth to moan, the older boy shoved his tongue inside.

But Sage was furious.

He bit the older boy's tongue and River winced in pain, pulling away and looking at Sage in surprise.

"What the hell, Ziggy?!"

Sage wiped the blood from his lips with his arm and hissed. "I am not your fucking sex toy! Did you tell that new boy that you're a fuckboy?" he asked, his eyes suddenly filling with hurt, his wounded heart from unrequited feelings pained because he could never make his roommate feel what he feels for him.

"I'm not a fuckboy," River exclaimed, gritting his jaw and looking away, he didn't know what had gotten into the boy he cared about most in this whole fucking school.

"Well, you fucked me in the name of helping me when I got here. What does it make you if not a fuckboy," Sage accused River, feeling betrayed and inferior. He's always afraid that River will ask the newbies the same questions he asked him upon his arrival, and this is where his overthinking and insecurities began to play havoc in his mind. "Didn't you say you'd help him?"

Sage and River have always been an odd couple of roommates. River arrived first and immediately fought his way to the top, earning the respect and title to never mess with because he was a strong-willed boy with a strong body and personality. He never wants to get into fights, but when he does, he makes sure he wins. However, it became so frequent that the only thing he did other than sleep was fight; the school transformed his happy-go-lucky personality into a professional fighter, and he became addicted to it. His knuckles began to itch, when they weren't landing on someone's face. When the students learned not to mess with him and no one dared to pick a fight with him, his aggression morphed into desperation. River craved the tiredness of his body in order to sleep comfortably, but the fact that he was no longer able to fight and let out his anger irritated him so much that the moment Sage, his new roommate, opened the door, he knew exactly what he wanted from him.

Sage, the new and quiet boy who tried his best to keep his distance from everyone and stay isolated, but he attracted the attention of others and was toyed with. He went to River for help while crying and covered in bruises. River, being a psycho, didn't feel sorry for him, but his crying in agony and puffy eyes innocently looking up at him piqued his interest, and when he felt his pants tighten at the sight of a small body trembling and sniffling cutely, he agreed to help him in exchange for something despicable.

"I don't fuck everyone I help," River shrieked as he approached his roommate. "What is going on in your head, Ziggy? I thought you were smarter than me."

"Then why are you so eager to help that new kid?" Sage yelled, he never expected to fall for an idiot like River who doesn't understand his own feelings.

"Does this make me a fuckboy?" River scowled at him.

"Doesn't it?" Sage felt a pain in his chest. "Don't you think that boy and I were very similar when I arrived here, scared and a weakling? You blackmailed me into sleeping with you if I didn't want to be pushed around by those bullies."

River aggressively grabbed his jaw and drew his face closer, their lips touched for a split second before River steadied his balance and drew back a bit.

Sage instantly missed the feeling even though it was just an accident.

"Watch what you say! I presented you with an offer; I did not force you to accept it. I made you an offer, and you accepted it. I gave you an option that you could have declined."

Silent tears immediately stream down Sage's cheeks finishing off at River's hand. River's heart shattered at Sage's painful expressions.

"I was beaten to death, covered in red and blue bruises from head to toe, is that any different from not blackmailing, do you think I had a choice? It's either I sleep with you as you demand or I die every day."

"Sage," River said quietly, his voice low and hushed, his breath tripping over Sage's face, his hand tightening, making Sage wince in pain. "Again. It's not my fault; I gave you the option. And you clearly understand that everyone here has to fend for themselves, so you can't blame me for getting something in return for favouring you."

"Then why stop now? Why don't you fuck me anymore, why don't you take out your aggression on me anymore? What, do you think I'm not fuckable anymore, that I'm useless and full of scars and that's why you're always looking for someone new," Sage cried and River rolled his eyes in frustration.

"You're using your mouth a lot lately on spouting nonsense, don't forget that I could give you a better reason to shut it up," River pushed him into the bed, Sage groaned heavily but before he could understand anything his distressed eyes met with furious ones as River hovered over him trapping his smaller but stubborn body. "And the reason I stopped fucking you is that I don't want to hurt you anymore. I can't see you in pain and crying every night you go to sleep after we're done."

And he meant it. River couldn't see how tired Sage became after they finished their deed. River soon realised that Sage wasn't built for roughness how rough River likes to treat him in bed. Sage was supposed to be treated gently and softly, as he deserved, but River couldn't give him that.

"And it's none of your business whether I fucking want to help someone or not; you're not my boss, so don't push your luck too far just because I go easy with you," River gave him a warning look.

Sage shuddered and felt his heart aching at the heartless look in his eyes.

River pressed his finger into Sage's chest and pushed him flat on the bed, the heat of his angry body sending shivers up Sage's spine, making him hear the only sound of his own heartbeats. He looked away when he couldn't take River's alluring eyes staring at him with a lewd look.

"I hate you," Sage whined, glaring at him.

River laughed at his tantrum, he pecked his cheek and nose before rising and leaving Sage and his bed. He started to walk towards the door.

"W-Wait! Where are you going?!" Sage got up on his elbow with a terrified and pitiful expression.

River, who was only intending to go to the bathroom to change into his pyjamas, stopped dead in his tracks, he turned around and his heartbeats raced as he saw Sage's frightened expression, fear overshadowing his beautiful features. He appeared to be on the verge of breaking down.

River sighed and dismissed his plan to change his clothes.

"I'm not going anywhere," He went back to Sage's bed. River bent down and ducked his arms under Sage's legs and back, and shifted him to the other side of the bed to make space. Sage watched him dumbfounded as River plopped beside him. River raised a brow and chuckled at his bewildered expression, he threw his arms and scooped the smaller body closer to him. "Now, take long breaths and sleep."

DING!

A loud sound of the bell and the lights went off almost immediately following the bell. Sharp at nine.

And then silence.

Just like that, another day ends in Sunford.

 ***

The morning arrives, the sunlight penetrates through the parted curtains into the room welcoming a new day at Sunford with brand new troubles.

Eve jerked in his sleep, face twisting he drifted out of his deep slumber, his small and thin eyelashes fluttered and he awoke before he profusely tried to blink out the sleep. Darting his sleepy eyes across the room he shifted to the other side and winced because his whole body was paining, probably from exhaustion.

As he sat up, he let out a pained gasp as he felt immense pain in his neck, his hands immediately reached up to touch his throat, it felt dry and sore. He wanted to drink water but glanced around the empty room and bed across from him, he didn't find the water. His eyes landed on the small kitchen area, and his swollen eyes lit up a little but the brightness of his eyes instantly went away when he heard the knock on his doors.

The noxious sound made him flinch, and he began to tremble in fear, as if his brain instinctively remembered the catastrophe from the previous night. Dread swept over him as he clutched the blanket to his chest, as if it could save him.

"Eve?!" He heard his name and immediately felt his heart calming down, returning to its normal rate. The familiar voice filled with playfulness but full of assurance had him throwing his blankets away and excitedly running towards the door in relief.

Upon unlocking the door, Eve met with a fresh smiling face and a scowling face behind him.

"Thank god you survived the night, I thought you would be dead," River chuckled. Eve felt a relieving warmth from his smile which tucked his own lips into a small smile. "Good morning, Luna."

Eve nodded but frowned when he tried to speak, River took in his pained expression, he wanted to ask what's the matter with him but before he could do so, his eyes landed on the red bruises and fingerprints on his neck.

River's worriedness turned into a huge grin and he clapped his hands.

"So the Alpha already marked his territory!" River laughed.
