[ ALPHA'S DORM ]
Sage jumped and plopped on Eve's bed, his eyes widening in awe as he excitedly looked around. "Wow, this room is really the biggest room I have seen in this school. I don't know if I should call you lucky or not."
Eve looked at him and couldn't help but smile as well, even though he got a bit startled whenever Sage jumped and asked him a question. He looked like a kid the first time taken into an amusement park. Sage asked with excitement, "Do you guys also have a TV here?! Where is it?!"
Sage looked around, his eyes sparkling with what Eve liked to call a child's curiosity. He admitted that Sage had the prettiest body and face he had ever seen, with a charming and feminine appearance. Even though Sage was bullied for it by the students, but in reality, they were all dying to have him for themselves. And that's why River was overprotective and possessive of him.
Eve laughed, which seemed like in a long time he had smiled in a long time, and shook his head. His eyes averted towards Sage's fingers as he spoke with enthusiasm. "Your nails are really pretty."
Sage's smile only widened, and his cheeks turned pink. He giddily responded, "Thanks, River smuggled this nail polish for me. Even though he could be a meanie sometimes, other than that, he's really sweet to me."
"What happened to your lip?" Eve suddenly asked, his face twisted in concern.
Sage's expression contorted in horror, and Eve frowned at the blush that was tenfold on Sage's face. Sage licked his lips, his tongue grazing over the place where River had bitten him. Sage observed Eve to see if he was really that unaware and dense. "It's...uh...a big mosquito bit me."
"Oh," Eve let out in understanding, completely believing him. What a strange place to bite.
"So, are you ready for your fight with Marco?" Sage asked, his tone profound and filled with worry.
Eve flinched, his heart beginning to race as flashes of Marco naked him and beating him while everyone laughed crossed his mind. He didn't know if he could face him again. He didn't understand why Alpha made a deal like this, where he wouldn't stand a second in front of that bully.
Sage pitied him. He wished he was as strong as Alpha or River so that he could help him. "If he becomes Luna, I'm afraid he will definitely take revenge on you."
The atmosphere tensed, and Eve felt fright and nervousness coursing through his veins.
"It's the 23rd today, Night Hunt will be tomorrow, the seventh day of the semester. And the things I have encountered that happened on that malicious night are something that makes me shudder to even think about it," Sage explained in a hushed voice, as if someone was keeping an eye on them.
Eve gulped in fear as Sage continued. "It's the only night where red batch holders could pick their prey for the whole year. If they choose a yellow batch holder, there will be no fight and the yellow batch holder has to accept their fate. But if a red batch wants another red batch, then they have to fight, and whoever wins gets the opportunity to claim the loser as their bitch."
Eve used to be a fan of horror stories, but he never knew he would experience one in real life. "H-How is it allowed—"
"As I have told you before, Sunford is not a normal school. Hell, you can't even call it a school. What kind of parents leave their kids to rot in this hell and never care to see what's happening to them?!" Sage huffed, his eyes burning, lost in his own mind. He was one of the thousands who were forced to confront their demons and learn to grow with them. "But I was lucky that River decided to make me his personal boy toy. And even though it's derogatory, it's still better to be taken advantage every night by different guys."
Eve was stunned beyond words. His mind couldn't fully comprehend the weight of Sage's words. The room seemed to spin, and he struggled to find his voice. "W-What?"
Sage noticed his shock and chuckled. "Yes, didn't you ever notice?" Eve shook his head, unable to form a coherent response. Sage laughed, deciding to finally give Eve the shock of his life. "I'm River's prey for the year, which means I'm basically his bitch and belong to him for the whole year. He could do anything to me, except killing me."
Eve's breath stuck in his throat as he finally got why River always clung to Sage. He couldn't help but blush at the truth about the friends he's been around with for almost a week now, yet he didn't know about their relationship.
"But that changes on Night Hunt. Everyone is free again, and the dogs can claim anyone they like," Sage continued, his voice filled with a shiver. "And that's where the scary part begins. If Marco becomes Luna, you'll lose your position. He will turn the school into havoc, and he'll be free... to claim anyone."
Sage himself shuddered at the thought, unable to bring himself to tell Eve that since Alpha stood for him, there was a bigger chance that Marco would definitely claim him as his revenge.
