"Pftt! So, you really have lost it, nice," He laughed, though his eyes were burning to see the lack of fear on Eve's face for him. Eve stayed silent, not finding his humour funny. "Sure, shoot. It's your last wish anyways," He tilted his head, menace dripping from his face.
Unfazed by his disturbing promises, Eve ignored him. "Once, there was a witch," he stated nonchalantly. "She believed she was superior to any other witch, she used her power to dominate and torment the weak witches. It earned her authority but she was still hungry for more and higher positions."
Marco's anger boiled inside him, after understanding the roots of the story. He threw a punch but Eve escaped it with so ease, it's as if he has been doing it for a long time.
"Once I win I will make you my personal whore. And then once I'm done tearing you, I will throw you among my other dogs so that they can feed on every inch of this pretty body of yours."
Ignoring his threats, Eve continued with a blank face, his voice calm. "Using her dark magic, she created a potent acid. She used that acid on the villagers, men, women, and even children. No one was safe from her. The acid caused their skin to burn and slowly stripped from their bodies and after suffering enough they all died. Everyone started to fear her, which gave her unbelievable pleasure."
Marco huffed, his knuckles turning white. With each passing moment, his former cool facade turned into rage. It's as if he was hearing a story about himself. Gasps of horror echoed through the crowd, when he hurled his fist again which was caught efficiently by Eve.
"YOU FUCKING—!"
"But her greed had no limits," Eve continued, his voice steady, as he looked at the fist in his hand. Marco snarled and tugged at his arm to pull his hand back but he couldn't get it back no matter how hard he tried. River and Sage also exchanged glances at the scene. "Now she wants something that didn't belong to her in the first place. Neither did she deserve it. But she went for it without knowing the consequences." Eve's voice dropped to a hushed whisper, it's almost as if he was telling a horror story to a bunch of kids. "The heartstone. A gem that holds immense power, it was able to bring unimaginable powers."
"What are they talking about? And possessed Eve so suddenly?" Sage asked.
River smirked. "I don't know but I'm loving it."
Marco suddenly laughed, completely losing to his madness. "Interesting story. I'll make sure to make you recite it every time my guys will gang bang you-"
"The witch thought she had earned it all. She could do anything with that stone. But while using the stone, she lacks skills and knowledge. She didn't know how to handle such a powerful stone. Turns out she was nothing more than a stupid and ugly witch. She used it wrong and the powers inside the stone shredded her to pieces. Her body slices into two parts, her head explodes, her limbs and intestines spewed out, and moist flesh shatters everywhere. The sight was disturbing. But she got what she deserved, a painful and disgusting death."
Marco's eyes widened, his breath becoming shallow. He couldn't separate reality from the twisted narrative. Driven by despair, he lunged at Eve, throwing wild punches to regain control.
To everyone's shock, Eve moved swiftly, effortlessly evading each punch with ease. Marco's attacks grew frantic, while Eve remained calm, ducking each blow. Marco was exhausted at this point.
"Ugh!" He cried out when a knee collided with his crotch causing him to see stars for a moment. Eve stood straight again while Marco fell on the ground in front of him crying in pain.
"What the fuck bro! I thought it would end in a blink of an eye but now I'm enjoying this fight!" Someone yelled from the crowd. Loud noises of laughter erupted causing Marco to slip further into embarrassment.
River looked at the time. Only two minutes were left.
Crushed under the humiliation, Marco yelled and lunged himself again at Eve.
Eve moved backward while dodging Marco's punches when his back suddenly collided with something hard. The impact wasn't that bad yet it made him stumble, but before he could fall, he was caught between two strong arms helping him regain his balance.
The hall fell into a stunned silence as everyone's eyes widened in surprise. Even Marco looked startled, his aggressive expression replaced by fear as he looked at the person behind Eve.
Eve's heart raced as he slowly turned around, and as he did, he found himself face to face with Alpha. His eyes lit up, his heart skipped a beat, and an unexpected rush of emotions flooded within him. He didn't expect for Alpha to come. His sapphire eyes that seemed to be sparkling in excitement locked with those blank silver brown.
But to Eve's astonishment, the softness he had encountered in Alpha's eyes earlier, when they were in the dorm, was nowhere to be found now. Instead, there was an unnerving fury resting there. It was the same gaze of annoyance he showed to everyone else. Eve couldn't comprehend the sudden change, but he felt a sharp pain in his heart.
Alpha's gaze, filled with hatred and irritation, pierced through him, causing his face to droop. The happiness he felt upon seeing Alpha standing in front of him disappeared.
And to his and everyone's surprise, Alpha walked past him and leaned against a nearby desk. Folding his arms across his chest, while wearing a bored expression on his face. He turned his attention to Marco and exclaimed, "Why did you stop your fight?" His voice carried a hint of disappointment.
Eve remained facing the entrance from where Alpha had appeared, his eyes were lost.
So, when this time Marco hurled his fist, it landed perfectly on his jaw. Because instead of defending himself, he stood motionless, which allowed Marco to land brutal and merciless blows upon him. Each punch was heavy and fierce, sending jolts of pain through his nerves. The room was crammed with gasps of shock from the students, including River and Sage, who couldn't believe what they were witnessing.
Sage turned to River with a frightened expression "What's happening to Eve? He was doing so well." His voice quivered with concern, his eyes darting between Eve's battered form and Alpha who was silently watching the ongoing fight without being fazed by it.
But he heard Sage's question, yet he remained focused. His eyes, devoid of any emotion, seemed fixed on his roommate facing brutality.
As expected, Eve, now on the verge of fainting, coughed up blood, his body unable to withstand any more attacks. Each breath became a struggle, and he fought to stay conscious.
Sage's worry deepened. "River, fucking do something!" River glanced over at Alpha, who stood emotionless and detached. Seeing that Alpha wasn't doing anything, River hesitated to interfere. If Alpha wasn't going to step in, it wasn't his place to meddle either.
As the merciless beating continued, Eve's body finally gave out, and he collapsed to the ground, unable to muster the strength to rise. The heavy silence was broken only by the sound of Eve's laboured breathing.
Also, five minutes are done.
Marco turned to Alpha, a smug plastered across his face. He panted heavily. "I won, Alpha. You stood up for this weakling, all in vain," He laughed, disgustingly spitting toward Eve. "You haven't forgotten about our deal, have you?"
Alpha's gaze shifted from Eve's pathetic bloodied form on the floor, to Marco. His face remained impassive as he coldly declared, "You win. So, you become the Luna." His voice was sarcastic as if he was taunting the former owner of the position.
River's anger was fueled as he glared at Marco's victorious smirk. "Alpha! Eve was-!" He froze as Alpha raised his hand, silently silencing him.
Marco raised a provoking brow at River, he strutted over to Eve, a sadistic grin carved across his face. He grabbed Eve by the collar, pulled him up, and sneered in his face. "Since the Night Hunt is about to begin, I think I should be granted clearance to choose my prey ahead of time. After all, I did win."
Sage's eyes widened in fear as he shouted, "No! That's against the rules!" His voice trembled with desperation. "You can't do that!"
Marco shot Sage a venomous and nasty glare. "Rules don't apply to me anymore, you fool," he mocked. "I'm the Luna now."
While they argued, Eve's eyes peered toward Alpha, and surprisingly their eyes locked as Alpha was already looking at him. His chest hurt but not because of the beatings.
Alpha's eyes subtly twitched as he stared back with equal intensity. Eve's eyes quickly turned into a sharp glare, filled with accusation. Instead of looking scared that he was going to be claimed for the whole year, he appeared angry at Alpha more.
Alpha smirked as he observed the innocent and sweet boy revealing his true colors, yet no one cared to pay attention to that even though Eve was standing right next to everyone.
"As the new Luna, I claim-"
"ENOUGH!" Alpha's voice boomed through the hall, causing everyone to suck in their breaths. He looked at Marco and declared, "You cannot claim him as your prey."
Marco stood frozen, his eyes widening in shock as he gritted his jaw. He demanded. "But why? I win. And now I can pick anyone I want."
Alpha passed him a death glare, he doesn't like to repeat himself, especially to the insignificant ones. "Because he is already claimed."
The room was filled with shocked gasps and murmurs. Even Eve looked confused, not understanding what was happening and what Alpha was talking about.
"That's impossible. Who had chosen him already," Marco kept on pushing on the topic. He looked at River. "Did you?"
Alpha approached them slowly, his eyes fixed on Eve's, where a hint of resentment was still present there. Looking deeply into his eyes, Alpha leaned down and left a sharp bite on Eve's neck tasting the blood.
"Angh!" Eve cried while everyone was taken in the scene with a wide open mouth and Pikachu's shocked face.
Alpha pulled back and declared to living and non-living things present in the hall. "I have claimed him. So, he's mine now. He belonged to me and now he's my bitch," He looked at Marco. "And before you bother with the rules. They don't apply to me because I'm the one who makes the rules in Sunford."
"But that's unfair–!" Marco grew angrier and argued. But before he could finish, a loud bell rang throughout the hall.
The room fell silent as everyone froze, holding their breath. The moment they had been waiting for, the Night Hunt, had begun.
Alpha's sinister eyes roamed the crowd as he announced with a chilling voice.
"The Night Hunt has begun."
