Lia didn't expect the chaos when he reached Wagnar's mansion. Antonio informed him that Alpha had broken the doors of his room and left the bodies of two guards in pieces.
They had to transfer Alpha to the inner part of the mansion so that he couldn't harm anyone, but he still couldn't let anyone approach him. He was completely out of control.
Lia didn't like this information. It was hard enough for him to take Alpha out of that room, but now it was going to be much harder to get Alpha out of that inner place.
But what he also didn't like was how much Antonio sounded annoyed and talked ill about Alpha. "That piece of shit will destroy everything. The only thing he does is cause problems. Fucking dog! The whole place is a mess."
But that wasn't the way Lia saw him, not at all. "I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose. You guys must have provoked him," He defended firmly.
Antonio stopped and looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "How much do you know him to defend him? You understand him more than us? We created him to clean our mess, not to cause chaos for us."
Lia chuckled and shrugged simply. He felt petty and wanted to get on Antonio's nerves so he kept taunting fearlessly. "Maybe I do, or maybe you guys don't have the ability to make him obey you."
Antonio neither liked his tone nor his words. But Lia didn't seem to quit, he wanted to know how much he could push Antonio until he got upset. No one should badmouth his beast after all.
"You better shut your mouth," Antonio glared at him hard with death in his eyes. He still doesn't understand what his brother saw in this arrogant and mere human to appoint him the trainer of their most awaited experiment.
"What are you going to do about it?" Lia challenged playfully. Antonio turned red and looked at him with anger. Lia smiled in response and continued to walk in the direction where they were holding Alpha.
But before Antonio could ask the guards to beat the shit out of him, Lia stopped and spoke again. "I'll tell you my condition now. I don't want anyone inside the place while I train him. Not even at the gate. It must be just me and him."
"You sure are bold, boy," Antonio snarled, looking at him as if he was crazy. "We are paying you for a reason, you should know your place."
Lia merely clicked his tongue and crossed his arms. "I was told by Mr. Wagnar that all my conditions would be agreed upon, but apparently you have some problem with that. Tell your boss I quit."
The older man looked at him angrily, but Lia wasn't going to look away. He doesn't know whether this threat is gonna work or not, but if his hunch is correct, this guy will agree.
However, Antonio also remembers that his godfather wanted Alpha to be trained by this person at any cost. And not by anyone else. Antonio is against this for some strange reasons.
"I'll make the arrangements, but you better fix him or else..."
"Or else what?" Lia asked sarcastically, but then his voice turned more serious.
Antonio gritted his teeth and turned his face. He leaned forward and warned. "Or else you won't like the consequences."
Lia knew that he couldn't say anything, but he definitely wanted to find a way to kick Antonio in the ass. He glared at him with equal intensity.
"Alright, we will be late if you both continue to argue," Someone announced from behind. Lia's eagle eyes shifted to the man who had arrived. Lia had never seen him before. Though, he didn't appear to be one of the guards. He looked different, wearing an expensive suit. His black hair was neatly combed. He looked younger and seemed like a man of business, not like these crazy bastards. But that's the scary part of this job, predatory criminals look like any other ordinary person.
Antonio's eyes also turned towards him. He was annoyed even more. "We are still talking, stop meddling."
Lia shook his head. "No, we are done talking. I just want to meet Alpha now."
The man smiled and took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it up. "Sure thing," The man's voice was calm and cold. Lia wondered if he was another bastard who was involved in doing experiments on Alpha.
"Mr. Wagnar will be informed about your behaviour," Antonio warned Lia and left in a hurry, the guards following behind him.
The man chuckled and put the cigarette back into his mouth. He watched Antonio leaving and puffed out the smoke.
"I've never seen him so upset. He doesn't like you much which is not a good thing for you. I'm kind so I'll suggest you watch that sharp tongue of yours if you want to live long. Don't think you're safe just because they're tolerating you."
Lia didn't reply, he didn't see any benefit in interacting with this person so the man continued. "You must be the trainer. But I don't think you have any idea just what's going on here,"
Lia frowned. Why were these people always talking in puzzles? "I'm also not scared of you people. I will do my job and leave."
"And if we want you to stay?" The man replied with a smile, as if Lia's words were funny. Lia definitely found him weird and....suspicious. "Why do I feel like there's a lot of lies in your words? I feel like you're here to stay with that wild dog. Took a fancy to him?"
"It's none of your concern, just give me some space," Lia was tired of listening to his nonsense and also a little nervous. Even Wagnar couldn't suspect that Lia was there because of his liking for Alpha.
The man smiled again, he threw the cigarette on the floor and crushed it with his feet. He rested his hand on Lia's shoulder and smirked, his eyes piercing through Lia's cold ones. "Let me tell you a secret," Lia's heart raced, there was a weird feeling around this man that was suffocating him. The man leaned over and whispered in his ears. "There's someone else who also wanted to ruin that beast. Who also has a fancy in him for a long time just like you."
Lia's eyes widened, and his whole body stiffened. This man's words and the way he spoke were like a warning to him.
"Who-" Lia couldn't even complete the sentence when the man's hand left his shoulder and he took a few steps back.
"Just remember my words. Don't trust anyone. See you later, Mr. Lia," He walked in the same direction as Antonio. Just like that. As if nothing happened.
Lia stood frozen in his place for a long time. The man's words rang through his mind. He didn't understand anything but he knew one thing. That man knows something. He is aware of something that's dangerous.
"Hey! What are you standing there for?!" One guard yelled at him, pulling him back to reality.
Lia shook his head and turned towards the guard. He sighed and walked towards him, he needed to get to Alpha first. Every other stupid theory could wait. This place and the things going on here are already confusing enough, he doesn't want to tire himself with more things.
When Lia reached the inner section of the mansion, he could hear the screams and yelling from afar. But none of them belonged to Alpha, which made him relieved.
"All you have to do is inject him! Can't you all do even this?! You're larger in numbers than him!" Lia heard Antonio's shout.
Reaching there Lia saw with his own eyes the ongoing mess. Four well-trained guards tried their utmost best to push down the beast who was roaring and thrashing violently. But they couldn't even get close to his strength. Lia could sense the rage in Alpha's body. There were various emotions like anger, confusion, fear, and frustration on his face. It made Lia laugh and be proud of his boy.
He is really amazing. Lia wanted to have some fun and mock Antonio but his eyes widened when he noticed what Antonio was planning to do.
"Get him down on the floor!"
"Fuck, this beast is impossible to handle!"
"Get aside all of you!" Antonio yelled and Lia's heart stopped beating when he saw him pointing a gun at Alpha, aiming at his leg.
"No! Wait!" Before he knew it, his body was blocking the gun. Antonio's finger was still on the trigger and the gun was pressed against Lia's chest. "What the hell are you doing?"
"Get out of my way. We have to inject him and it's not possible until he's up. I'm not killing him, just shooting on his leg," Antonio explained, as if what he was going to do was the most logical thing in the world.
The anger Lia felt in his body was indescribable. It was as if something had snapped within him and was driving him crazy. He was clenching his teeth and his hands were itching to punch Antonio's face. His protective instinct was working at full speed and he was losing his control.
"You can't do that," He gritted out. "That is not the right way to treat him. You can't hurt him without any reason!"
"You're out of your mind," Antonio hissed. "He's a monster! I've had enough of you and your bullshit. He's made to be hurt. He's pathetic and worthless until he learns to be a human. The more hurt he will get the more he'll listen to us. And he needs to learn fast."
"No," Lia said sternly. He didn't care if he had a gun in his chest. "You can't hurt him. You want me to train him, I will, but on my terms. So don't dare to point a gun at him ever."
"What did you just say?" Antonio was stunned by Lia's boldness. He couldn't believe his eyes. But he couldn't show his weakness either. "You better watch your mouth before I break your neck," Antonio grabbed his collar. "He belonged to us. To the lab! He's our to destroy and instill fear in him."
But Lia didn't budge and looked at him with equal intensity.
Antonio looked at the guards who were staring at him. "What are you all wasting the time for? Get him down!"
The guards jumped on Alpha again and this time, they got him down. However, Alpha's growling and yelling became louder, the sounds were piercing Lia's heart. He was about to go help him when the gun was pointed at his face.
"Don't move. Or I will shoot." Antonio's voice was cold and his finger was on the trigger. Lia wasn't scared but he knew he wouldn't be able to save Alpha if he died.
Alpha was thrashing his legs violently. The guards were having a hard time getting him tied up. They didn't want to touch his arm because the injections had been given there. They're sharply instructed not to injure his arm. Anywhere but his arm.
Antonio pushed the gun further, and Lia could feel the coldness on his forehead. But he didn't blink, nor did he move. His eyes were fixed on Antonio's. However, before any of them could do anything, a voice interrupted them again.
"Calm down, Mr. Antonio. He's just a young kid with hot blood. What does he know," It was the same man from before? He came and stood between them.
"But-!"
The man cut in and turned his head, looking at Lia. His dark eyes met with him. He smiled and patted Antonio's shoulder. "You may go. I'll talk with him,"
"Brother has appointed you to report his condition to the lab and not to order me. Don't forget your position, Scout," Antonio warned him.
Scout eyed him calmly. "Yes, sir. I'm well aware of my position. No need to inform me again and again."
Lia looked at them, a bit confused. He wondered who this person was and why Antonio looked so irritated by his presence. But then this bastard hates everyone and everything for no valid reason.
He turned his gaze back at Alpha and saw the guards successfully tying his hands. Alpha looked weaker from when he last saw him. How he's so weak now when he alone killed those guards.
And then he saw the injection marks on his arms and got his answer. His eyes met with Alpha who struggled harder after seeing him.
"He seemed very excited to meet you," Scout said and Lia's heart dropped at his words. "He's so desperate that he can't control himself."
Lia turned his face at him. His jaw tightened. "Do you constantly give him those injections to keep him calm and controlled?"
Scout raised his eyebrow and stared at him with amusement. "You're a clever kid. I don't think I have to hide anything from you."
"What did you give him?" He asked, ignoring the smug on his face.
"Just some drugs to enhance his abilities. And some medicines that could help him control his strength."
"Just fucking say you're experimenting on him to turn him into a weapon. No need to play with the words," Lia barked hearing Alpha's screams who was out of control after seeing him. He wanted to go to the strange human who felt warm.
"What we do with him shouldn't worry you," Antonio chuckled. "Just do your job and keep your lips sealed about whatever you see here."
Lia glared at him angrily, his eyes filled with fire. "Please leave with your guards. I can handle him in my own way."
