Mr Steve came over our home and offered to help us,my mom was hesitant but we managed to convince her.steve expressed himself that it's would be a betrayal to his friend if he didn't help. All he wanted to do was to pay tribute to his dear friend. My mother agreed but I could see that she felt shy and a bit uncomfortable.
'only this time Steve'she said.Mr Steve bought alot of things which we were in need of he bought food and cosmetics and he even handed us some money to cover any thing he might have not bought ,he indeed helped us alot and it's lasted us for a while.
That night we were very happy,we managed to eat pizza which we had not eaten for a long time,we had juice ,we had fruits, cake everything. It was all giggling for us.you would swear we were soldiers coming from war,we were grabbing this, swallowing that, drinking this, tasting everything.
'wait a minute, where is mom 'i said while I went to look for her.'There you are'.she was in the kitchen cleaning the fridge,'mom come and eat' I persuaded her.'no I'm fine my dear, after all someone has to clean the fridge since we have food now'she explained.I nodded and went back to eat.
Things were fine those couple of weeks in to the following month, but as the days pass we knew that we will soon be faced with the same problem.since most of our needs were sorted mom tried to push with my sister's school fees and we were really relieved.
God had answered our prayers and we were greatful,we started picking up at school,I started learning how to sew and I made a few dresses. The idea was for us to buy the materials and start a business whereby we would sew for people or sell already made dresses.
We were all in ,making garments and trying to convince the people of our community to support us.Luckily for us the second term had pass and it's was schools break which meant more events such as parties and weddings.we were able to sell most of the stuff and by the time the things that Steve had bought finished we were already selling.
I was happy to finally see our work paying off, people wearing my designs.i was greatful for the support from the people of our community even though I knew that they supported us mostly because we were cheaper, but I was greatful for the opportunity.
The business kept us very busy the whole spring break.its sustained us enough to finish my sister's first year tuition fee.we celebrated our victory, since it was a big deal to us.An obstacle I might as well say.
When ever I would go to deliver the garments I would see Steve along the road since his home was next to our home and he would normally greet me and applaud us for the great work.He encouraged me,he believed in me,he was kind,he was supportive.steve saw my capabilities and he was not afraid to stand up for me,sometimes he would order somethings for his family and give me a tip.i admired him.
