Part 06

After finishing her homework, Thania quickly grabbed her bag and headed to the office, just as Gibran was also getting ready to leave for work.

"Gibran, take Thania with you," Daniel instructed.

"No need, Dad. I can go by myself," Thania quickly refused.

"I don't want to hear any objections! Gibran, take her."

Gibran glanced briefly at Thania before saying, "Let's go."

Thania followed behind him as he got into the car. She hesitated for a moment but eventually got in as well.

"Put on your seatbelt."

Without a word, she fastened her seatbelt, and the car pulled out of the driveway.

"Drop me off at the bus stop ahead," Thania said after a moment of silence.

"Why should I drop you there?" Gibran asked, his tone unreadable.

"Huh? What do you mean?"

There was no response, but moments later, the car stopped at the bus stop. Thania quickly got out and, before closing the door, muttered a quick, "Thank you."

Upon arriving at the office, Thania was immediately given a task.

"Thania, please prepare the meeting room for our guest," one of her colleagues requested.

"May I ask what the occasion is?"

"Oh, you haven't heard? The big boss is coming today, and he's bringing an important client who will be working with us. He's actually a close friend of the boss, and he'll be taking over as our temporary superior."

"I see. I'll get the room ready right away."

"Thanks, Thania!"

Thania quickly made her way to the designated room. She adjusted the furniture, organized documents, and called the cleaning staff to dust off the surfaces. After half an hour, everything was in perfect order.

She picked up two large boxes filled with files and carefully made her way down the hall. The boxes were so tall they blocked her view. She walked cautiously, but then—

Thud.

She collided with someone. The boxes fell, their contents scattering all over the floor.

"Be more careful next time," a deep voice said.

"I'm sorry," Thania replied instinctively, still not looking up.

The man bent down to help her gather the scattered files. Once she stood up and finally saw him, she was momentarily taken aback. He was tall with sharp features, exuding a strong presence. He smiled at her, and for some reason, she suddenly felt awkward.

However, before she could say anything, her eyes caught someone standing behind him.

She froze.

"Thania!" A female colleague suddenly called her from the side and quickly pulled her away. "You're blocking the way."

"Apologies for the accident just now," her colleague said to the man.

"It's alright."

Thania bowed her head slightly, still processing what she had just seen. How could she forget? This company was a branch of Daniel's business empire. Which meant—

Of course, Gibran was one of the owners.

Gibran soon addressed the gathered employees.

"Everyone, this is Mr. Andre, our important guest. He will also be working here as your superior. Show him your respect and professionalism."

Andre greeted them with a charismatic smile. "Hello, everyone! I look forward to working with you all. Let's have a great time together."

"I'll take you to your office," Gibran said, leading the way.

Once inside, Andre whistled in amusement. "Damn, I really feel like a boss here."

"If you need anything, just call the office staff," Gibran replied flatly.

Knock. Knock.

The door opened, revealing a woman carrying a stack of documents.

"You again," Andre said, recognizing Thania immediately.

"Yes, sir. I've brought the necessary files for you."

"Just set them here."

Thania carefully placed the documents on his desk. "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."

"Thank you," Andre said with a small smile.

As she exited, Andre turned back to Gibran. "Hey, can I request a personal secretary?"

Gibran raised an eyebrow. "I already assigned someone to you."

"Yeah, but I want her."

Gibran stiffened. "What?"

"That woman—Thania. I want her as my secretary."

Gibran's expression darkened slightly. "That's not possible."

"Why not?"

"She's just a regular employee. I can't guarantee she'll be capable of handling the job."

"Then I'll train her myself."

Andre's unwavering determination left Gibran with no choice but to agree.

Later that day, Andre approached Thania's desk. She was focused on her computer, typing away.

"Thania," he called.

She turned to him. "Yes, Mr. Andre? How can I help you?"

"I need you to be my secretary while I'm here."

Thania immediately stood up, looking at him in disbelief. "You're joking, right? Me? Your secretary?"

"I'm serious. I personally requested you for the role. Are you willing?"

"But sir—"

"No buts. It's an order. Oh, and don't worry, Gibran already approved it."

With no room for argument, Thania had no choice but to accept.

"Alright... I'll do it."

"Good. Then come to my office later."

As Andre walked away, Thania let out a deep breath, still processing what had just happened. Meanwhile, Gibran, from a distance, observed the interaction with narrowed eyes.

Something about Andre's insistence bothered him.

Did they know each other before? Why else would Andre go out of his way to request her?

One thing was for sure—this situation was far from ordinary.
