Chapter 1

Ivo climbed the ranks of the wealthy elite that day, granting an interview to the network.

When the host inquired about the secret to his success,

Ivo stared directly into the camera, a disdainful smirk playing on his lips.

"I owe my gratitude to that shameless individual who trampled me when I was at my lowest, shaping me into the man I am today."

The host's jaw dropped in surprise: "How could that person be so blind? Such individuals deserve divine retribution..."

But Ivo absent-mindedly toyed with his engagement ring.

"It doesn't matter. She's blind now, I'm sure she's regretting it for the rest of her life."

He seemed to be addressing me through the camera, his teeth clenched in anger.

"Isn't that right, Scarlett?"

As the words fell, my hand trembled, and tears streamed down my face.

What he didn't know was that his clear eyes now had belonged to me.

As the show wrapped up, Ivo's long legs carried him to Kinsley's side.

He gently wiped the sweat from her brow.

His voice soft and tender: "Kinsley, have you been waiting long?"

Kinsley's face flushed at his words: "It's fine, my legs are just a bit numb."

At that, Ivo, the titan of industry, dropped to one knee and began massaging Kinsley's legs. Witnessing the scene, the surrounding recording crew let out envious exclamations.

"The princess and prince have stepped into reality, Mr. Huntington is a true romantic!"

"Look at the ring on Kinsley's ring finger, it matches Mr. Huntington's. I heard he personally designed and made it."

"And it seems they're getting married soon..."

Though I couldn't see, hearing the whispers around me made my heart ache.

Just then, Ivo called out.

"Don't you have any sense? Can't you see I'm thirsty?"

I wasn't sure if he was calling me, but suddenly someone pushed me hard from behind, causing me to stumble badly.

Ivo snatched the water cup from my hand irritably, but he didn't intend to drink.

Instead, he poured the water over my head in front of everyone.

His tone was nasty: "You think a blind person like you could be hired to work here?"

"Scarlett, I was kind enough to take you in. If you don't want to work, then don't!"

As he finished speaking, everyone was shocked.

Malicious comments started flying back and forth.

"So, this cripple is the shameless and despicable person Mr. Huntington mentioned earlier." True to that saying, karma always catches up to the wicked. Now that she's blind, it's exactly what she deserves.

"That position with Kinsley should've been hers, but who told her to be so blind to opportunity back then? She had it coming!"

The icy coldness of the water and their baseless cruelty made me curl up into a ball.

Being disabled already made finding work difficult, but for the sake of a hot meal, I had no choice but to beg the employer to keep me on.

Not long ago, I thought a miracle had happened when someone wanted to hire me. Now I realize it was just Ivo's charity.

Lost in thought for a while, I only noticed people had mostly left when I snapped back to reality.

In front of me stood the show's producer, who violently ripped off my work badge.

He informed me coldly, "Don't bother coming back!"

I shook my head frantically, tears blurring my face. "This is my only job, please."

Even though I've been fetching tea and water, doing the most menial tasks, enduring cold stares and prejudice all this time, this truly was my only means to pay for my eye treatment.

But the producer showed no mercy as he kicked me aside. "Begging me is useless. You've offended my benefactor. Go beg him instead!"

I fell to the ground, my fingers twisting until they went numb.

Being blind, I couldn't cry. After agonizing over it for a long while, I finally made up my mind to find Ivo.

But he shut me out completely.

No matter how much I knocked, there was no response from inside. Just as I was feeling anxious, sultry sounds emanated from behind the door.

He knew I could hear, so he made the noises exceptionally loud.

"Kinsley, I'll make you feel good......"

The sounds of wetness and heavy breathing intertwined.

I slumped helplessly outside the room, my mind racing with thoughts until exhaustion claimed me, unaware I'd fallen asleep.

I was awakened by water being splashed on me.

The staff yelled at me to get lost.

I wandered the streets one last time, leaning on my white cane.
