Chapter 1

When the medical team came to persuade me to live for the ninety-ninth time, I still refused.

"Miss Bennett, leukemia isn't that serious. If you want, we can cure you."

Seeing my resolute appearance, they were puzzled.

"Isn't there anyone in this world who loves you or whom you love?"

Hearing this, I smiled.

"There is."

"It's just that now, the person I love is intimately entwined with someone else right in front of me, my mom thinks keeping me alive is a waste of money, and my dad has already prepared a coffin for me..."

For a moment, they fell silent.

After a while, they said I was foolish.

But I replied, "Because I'm guilty, I've let everyone down."

To atone, I made a will, leaving my assets to them.

I thought they would be overjoyed after my death.

But I never expected that when they learned of my death, they would go mad with remorse, begging for my return.

"Are you sure you won't accept chemotherapy? If you don't, you'll only have three months to live."

The medical team was still struggling to persuade me.

Hearing this, my heart warmed at their unfamiliar kindness.

Then, I slowly shook my head.

Seeing this, they sighed and left. After their departure, I discovered they had left behind some documents.

Without hesitation, I chased after them.

But before I could get close, I overheard their conversation.

"What a weirdo, never seen someone begging to die before."

"If she wants to die, fine, but why drag others into it? If she dies, it'll mess up our team's success rate!"

Upon hearing this, I stopped in my tracks and didn't follow any further.

Instead, I slowly opened the document.

It was a liability waiver confirming no relationship.

Suddenly, I found myself laughing.

But after the laughter, I decisively signed my full name.

Indeed, the dead shouldn't burden anyone.

Shortly after signing, Zoran's secretary pulled up in front of me in a car.

Without a word, I got in.

The car quickly arrived at Zoran's house.

Opening the door, I saw Zoran shirtless.

And Estrella, her body covered in suggestive red marks.

A musky scent lingered in the bedroom, with used condoms strewn all over the floor.

"This is your task for today, clean it all up."

Before I could react, Zoran threw a maid's uniform at me.

Their field wasn't limited to the bed; there were traces on the couch, in the bathtub, and even on the table. My heart ached unbearably, yet I had to keep smiling cheerfully.

"Sure, leave it to me."

Seeing my forced smile, Zoran clenched his fists discreetly.

While cleaning, I discovered our old engagement photo in the trash can - the one of Zoran and me.

Our love had once burned so passionately that we'd walked down the aisle, but now we were strangers.

Just then, Estrella's excited voice rang out from the bathroom.

"Zoran, I'm finally pregnant!"

Hearing this, Zoran was momentarily stunned.

After regaining his composure, he planted a kiss on Estrella's forehead.

"What should we name our child? How about Luna?"

Estrella beamed with joy: "How do you know it'll be a girl?"

Hearing her words, the cloth slipped from my hand.

Once, I had asked Zoran that very same question. The child we had hoped for was also to be named Luna.

Snapping back to reality, Zoran and Estrella had already gone to the next room.

The sounds of splashing water echoed, as if intentionally for me to hear.

I forced myself not to listen, but my tears were quicker to react, already falling. A sharp pain shot through my chest, and suddenly I coughed up a mouthful of blood.

In an instant, my face turned as white as a sheet.

I had made a promise to Zoran to be at his beck and call, and I had no right to run away even if I wanted to.

Because I was guilty. I was responsible for his sister's death.
