"Not at all, not at all..."
"Surely Nolan must have forced you into all this. The words you're saying aren't truly your own."
"I'm here to rescue you, Zara. Come with me, quick!"
He grabbed my hand with all his might.
Despite my desperate struggle, I was no match for his strength.
Finally, exasperated, I shouted at him.
"I'm pregnant!"
As the words left my mouth, Zoran's body froze, and his grip on my hand slowly loosened.
After a long moment, he slowly turned his head.
Tears streamed down his face, the cold wind unable to dry them.
"But why?"
"Love doesn't need a reason."
I looked Zoran straight in the eye, unwavering.
Zoran seemed as if his very soul had been sucked out of him. After a long while, he asked me in a hoarse voice.
"What about all those happy memories we shared?"
"The pain you've caused me runs far deeper than any happiness you ever gave me."
That was my reply.
"Let go, Zoran. It's best for both of us if we part ways and find our own happiness."
