Chapter 2: My bad good luck broke reality?!

I sat there on my bed after gearing up into my best outfit I had in my wardrobe, if I know I'm about to go through hell I might as well be stylish doing it. I was supposed to leave at eight-o-clock right...? I really hope I didn't mishear him but then again it's not like this is gonna go at all in my favor...

My phone begins to buzz once, and then twice

its Micah...

"Ugh...Hello...?" I begrudgingly mutter as I hit the answer button and lift the phone up to my ear before being hearing my annoying "best friend" on the other line talking in a panicked voice.

"Jiji?! Where are you bro? You were supposed to be here like thirty minutes ago! You're making me look bad here man! In front of ladies! THE LADIES!"

That's when it hit me...my phone's clock read 7:26 PM, now you may be wondering, "What's the big fuss then?" Well let me explain, I must mention I'm a little bit of a cheater, y'know how in some mobile games you can manipulate your devices time in order to be granted certain time based rewards after you've claimed them but wanted to receive them again to reap double your rewards? Yeah, the whole reason I'm late to the first date of my miserable teenage life is all because I set my clock back an hour to get double my daily rewards...on a blatant cash-grab idle farming mobile game

"Uh, YEAH! I'm ALMOST there man, just a couple minutes away!" I say this as I slip my shoes on acknowledging the fact that I was in fact NOT a couple minutes away, but y'know a lie isn't a lie if you work hard enough to make it the truth, some wise man in an ancient chinese dynasty probably said something along those lines once but I'll just take my own credit for it.

I burst forth from my front door leaving my poor mother who was sitting there sipping her coffee in shock, she's never seen me move faster before likely due to the fact that I sit around playing video games all the time. Now In order to make it there on time I'll have to do some real death defying stunts, I'm not at all the greatest runner but my legs are pretty strong and I can jump decently far in a single bound, so obviously the only correct method of transport would be...

Not even a few minutes later I find myself standing on a rooftop, now considering all the heavy construction, or re-construction rather that has been going on in this part of the city after the huge fire that happened a while back it's basically like these rooftops are bridging to one another with construction equipment, with a few leaps in between, if I just jump through this large construction ridden part of town I can make it surely! I stand there breathing heavily wondering if avoiding the 15 minute run is really worth the soreness I'll feel tomorrow but who cares? I mean what's the WORST that could happen? Death?

Before I knew it I had begun swiftly maneuvering through girders and unfinished framework as I swung from metal beam to metal beam, surprisingly I'm enjoying this alot, it's quite thrilling honestly. After about 3 minutes of complete monkey business I see the location in the distance with one of the girls hounding Micah, as I dead hang from a large metal beam I get a good read on the girls appearances before I get over there.

Something is very off here

The girl I see standing beside Micah who I presume is his date gives me the same feeling I get when I look at just about any other girl, I just don't give a damn honestly, but when I look at the other girl who's presumably the one I tagged along for, I get this shrill sense of fear manifested as a cold tingle down my spine and a sharp pang in my heart. The oppressive feeling blew away like a cold breeze, almost in an instant, "Guess it's time to save this jackass..." I mutter beneath my breath as I let go of the metal bar landing perfectly within a bush to break my fall un-noticed, I come forth from the bush as I walk over to the three of them standing there.

"Ugh! It's about damn time your little friend showed up Micah, I was this close to just up and leaving I swear!" The blonde haired girl in the Kogal attire fiercely exclaims this as I see her get all up in Micah's face, this is genuinely freaking him out from her sudden outburst and its freaking me out as well because why the hell is she in Kogal of all styles when we're not even in Japan?! To each their own I guess...I look over to my side when I feel a tug on my shirt, I jump up in pure fear yelping like a scared infant as I see the other girl, a black haired girl wearing a baggy T-shirt and what seems like green plaid pajama pants.

"H-hey...you're Jiji right?" Her voice is shaky and somewhat on the deeper side while still being feminine and I'm getting a weird vibe from her but...I can't help but be creeped out by another more crucial detail that's come to my attention. How the hell is this girl not creeped out by me? I'm like bottom 5 best looking guys of all time! Girls used to cry when they got paired up with me in elementary! Have I finally glown up? Is this my MOMENT?

I look over and see her shaking in anticipation, soon after I realize she's waiting on a response! You can do this Jiji! You're entire life has been leading up to this moment! Just act calm and breathe.

"HELL YEAH! I IN FACT AM JIJI! WHY IS YOUR NAME? I MEAN- Wait you're Jiji right?" After fully processing the heaping pile of nonsense that came out of my mouth I begin internally screaming, "Why is your name?!" there goes my one shot, I blew it. To my surprise she begins to giggle? That's the first time I've made a girl laugh! Nice going Jiji! Your stupidity has really payed off this time...

"No! My name is Amelia, but you're really funny Jiji! I like you!" As the words "I like you!" enter my ears for the first time in forever I suddenly I feel a pang in my heart, and this isn't the pang you feel when you're in love, it feels like someone is forcibly pushing open the very fibers within my chest. For but a moment everything around me freezes up almost as if it's caught in time, my vision takes on a slight yellow hue before everything around goes dead and monochrome, the only noticeable thing with color being Amelia.

Suddenly I feel another presence from behind me, I dare not to look as a I feel a cold hand grasp onto my entire back. Suddenly the hand begins to move pointing a finger at Amelia, then that's when I hear it, a cold unnerving voice mutters but one word. "Anomaly..." the things shrill voice shrieks quietly into my ear and then suddenly I blink, and it's almost as if nothing had happened.

"What...what the hell?" I gulped before uneasily wheezing those words from my mouth, I then see Amelia look at me dawning a worried expression on her face, maybe I'm just seeing things, but even a druggie wouldn't trip that hard and I've been completely clean and sober my entire life, and now theres a weird burning sensation in my chest... best I can do for now is to brush whatever the hell that was off. I quickly re-assure Amelia before realizing Micah has long since left with the blonde haired girl.

How could he just leave me here?! Backstabbing son of a-

"Micah told us this is gonna be the first time you've gone on a date ever! I want to admit to you...this is the first date I've ever been on as well but... I honestly didn't want to get food or anything I kinda just wanted to hang out in silence!" She begins her little nervous shaking, "I hope you don't mind that, you don't do you?! P-please tell me thats not an issue for you!" I agreed as I never wanted to come in the first place and not dealing with the hassle of a proper extensive date was a dream come true. Best part of all? My pockets stay lined! Just how I like em.

Not even a few hours later after this conversation, we find ourselves hitting things off quite well and she seems oddly similar to me, and not too long after the moon had begun to shine in the sky, she had fallen asleep on my shoulder. I had finally realized that this girl would be my reason for wanting to live...and I begun to notice, my bad luck hasn't struck at all! Then suddenly I feel it again, that same pang in my chest, the air around me becomes dank and oppressive before suddenly I'm brought to that monochrome waste land again, Amelia is brought along once more, the both of us being the only things retaining color.

Now I get a full glimpse of that thing from earlier, towering over both me and Amelia with its gargantuan size, it's about the size of a small house and it looks like a grotesque patchwork of human carcasses slapped together with amateur stitchwork at best, its sharp cold hands dangling at its sides. Now almost all the times my luck or lack thereof has worked against me it was something bounded in reality, but now I'm face to face with a colossal monstrosity wielding what's practically blades for hands that looked like it both could and would cut me down at any minute.

Suddenly Amelia wakes up and jumps upright almost as if she's ready to combat the monster, with an air of confidence she didn't exhibit before she glares over at me before finally speaking up in a more confident tone now, a complete one-eighty from her tone earlier. Suddenly she grips her chest hard and groans in pain before a strange light bursts forth from her chest, seemingly empowering her.

The words that next came out of her mouth were something I never thought I'd ever hear in my life, something so bizarre that my brain couldn't wrap around the concept.

"All you need to know is I'm you, and you are me. I'll fill you in on the details later Jiji, for now just focus on the enemy ahead, fight."
