"This is going to hurt," the boy said with resignation as he watched the giant monster's foot descend inexorably toward him. And, as if it were a cruel joke of fate, the monster crushed him mercilessly.
"Hey! Monster, why did you squish that kid? You've turned him into mush. I don't think even my magic can bring him back… Well, I know someone who might, but he won't have much of a life left," a sweet voice commented from the shadows. The figure of a young girl began to materialize in front of the creature. She appeared to be about fifteen, with short white hair and a golden braid on the right side that gleamed like a ray of sunlight. She wore a white suit with golden highlights on the chest, evoking the image of an angel. Delicate golden wings protruded from her back, and she wore white gloves with golden edges that completed her celestial appearance.
The monster roared furiously, stretching out a massive hand toward her as if trying to grab her. "Don't yell at me or lay a hand on me, filthy beast!" the girl exclaimed firmly, her tone now severe. "This must be my brother's doing," she reflected aloud while observing the colossal being. "I'll have to take care of this and clean up his mess, as always." She cast a brief glance at the spot where the pink-haired boy had been crushed. "Poor kid with pink hair... His life was short. I hope it was at least pleasant."
The monster slowly lifted its foot from the ground, leaving a deep crater where the boy had been. Before it could advance toward the girl, who was perched on a high rock, a faint voice came from the hole: "Hey! I'm still here!"
"Huh? I thought I heard something… Or is it my imagination?" the young woman murmured, frowning as she dodged a punch from the monster trying to grab her. She heard the voice again, this time clearer, and decided to act quickly. Without hesitation, she removed one of her golden gloves and touched the monster with her bare hand. In an instant, the creature began to disintegrate, turning into golden particles that floated toward the sky.
"That was close," a familiar voice said from the crater left by the monster's footprint. The girl climbed down from the rock and approached the hole, curious. Inside, she saw a gelatinous substance moving slowly. "What is that?" she wondered aloud, wrinkling her nose. "It looks disgusting… Plus, I might get my gloves dirty."
Suddenly, the viscous mass formed a face that looked at her with large, expressive eyes. "It's me! That was close; I almost didn't make it," the thing or person said in a recognizable voice.
The girl took a step back, surprised. "You must be another one of my brother's creations. Although his inventions are ugly, I've never seen anything so grotesque."
"Relax, it's me," the mass replied, gradually beginning to take shape again until it transformed back into the pink-haired boy.
"What are you?" she asked, crossing her arms.
"I'm an agent, just like you. My code is B-9, and my name is Benny Grillo. I can stretch like elastic; any part of my body can change shape," the boy explained with a nervous smile.
"Well, you're strange, kid. But don't ever do that gelatin thing again. It's too disgusting," she warned him, still somewhat unsettled by the previous sight.
"And that's saying something because you haven't met one of my friends. His power would scare and gross you out even more than mine," Benny joked, laughing softly.
"Well, where are my manners… I'm Agent A-7, or since we're among agents, I'm Abel Shadowlight. I'm a white magic—or light magic—mage, however you want to say it," she introduced herself, giving a small bow.
"Wow! It's the first time I've heard that name from a girl, but it suits you. You're very beautiful," Benny said, smiling widely.
"Thank you for the compliment," Abel replied, returning a sincere smile. "I came here because of the transmission from the controlled ones, but then the machines started acting strangely, and I don't remember how I ended up here."
"Yes, it's unusual for a girl to have that name, but I like it. And thank you," Abel said, tilting her head slightly. After a pause, she added: "Everything that happened must have been my brother's doing. I thought you might have seen him, but based on what you've said, I think not. Will you help me look for him?"
Benny nodded enthusiastically. "Well, since all the robots are destroyed, sure. I'll help you. Along the way, we can also look for a way out of here."
The two began walking through the cave, letting the echo of their footsteps resonate between the rocky walls. The damp, cool air enveloped their bodies as Benny broke the silence with a question:
"And… by the way, what's your brother like?"
She smiled before answering, her voice floating like a light whisper.
"He's just like me because we're twins. Only he has dark hair and a golden braid like mine. He also likes wearing dark clothes," she said, pausing briefly as if carefully choosing her words. "But don't think he's emo or anything like that. He's a dark mage. Though sometimes he doesn't control his powers very well."
Benny furrowed his brow, trying to process what he had just heard.
"A dark mage? That sounds serious. How old are you two? Fifteen?"
"Yes, fifteen. And you, how old are you? Eight?" she asked, raising an eyebrow mischievously.
"No! I'm ten! I'm much older," Benny replied, puffing out his chest with childish pride.
She let out a melodious laugh, covering her mouth with her hand.
"Well, you look like a six- or eight-year-old. I was teasing you, Benny."
"It's not true!" he retorted, crossing his arms with an angry expression.
"You look cute when you're mad," she said, laughing even harder as she watched the boy's cheeks turn bright red.
After a few seconds of awkward silence, she spoke again, her tone now more curious than mocking.
"By the way, why did your suit return to normal when you were crushed and came back to your original form?"
Benny lifted his head proudly, regaining some of his confidence.
"It's because the agency engineers created a special suit for me. It adapts to my form without tearing or disintegrating."
"Wonderful," she said, clapping with genuine enthusiasm. Her eyes sparkled like tiny stars under the dim light of the cave.
Suddenly, she pointed ahead.
"Look! That looks like the end of the cave."
Both stepped outside, blinking at the intensity of the sunlight. As they looked around, Benny's eyes widened.
"This… this is a Moai!" he exclaimed, pointing at the enormous stone statues surrounding them. "That means we're on Easter Island."
"Wow, you really are a brainiac," Abel commented, impressed.
"Yes, and this belongs to…" Benny began, but stopped abruptly when one of the larger Moai statues started to move, revealing hands and arms emerging from its rocky structure.
"That's unusual… Not just artifacts are turning into robots," Benny murmured, watching the scene in awe.
"Don't look, Benny. That thing isn't entirely a Moai. It's a replica," she corrected him, her tone now more serious.
The gigantic stone colossus slowly rose, pulling a boulder from the ground with surprising ease. With a deep roar, it hurled the rock directly toward them.
"Watch out!" Benny shouted, pushing Abel out of its path. The boulder struck his abdomen with a dull thud, but quickly the boy reacted, stretching like an elastic band to grab two nearby structures with his extended arms. Using his ability like a living slingshot, he hurled the boulder back at the colossus with devastating force.
Heart racing, Benny turned to her, expecting gratitude.
"Are you okay?" he asked, slightly out of breath.
But instead of showing thanks, Abel glared at him irritably while brushing mud off her white dress.
"Thanks for knocking me over! Now I've gotten my whole dress dirty."
"Oops… Sorry," he replied, nervously scratching the back of his neck as he returned to his original form. His expression was a mix of guilt and amusement. "It wasn't my intention."
"Well, it doesn't matter," she said, pulling out a thin wand-like object. With an elegant motion, she cleaned the stains from her dress, leaving it spotless again. "Ah! Much better."
The colossus, however, didn't give them time to relax. It let out a thunderous roar and began advancing toward them.
"What a nuisance! Another robot to fight. Didn't my brother take care of all of them?" Abel complained, her voice laced with frustration.
"It seems not," Benny replied, adopting a defensive stance.
"Well, it's time to fight," she declared, raising both hands. Suddenly, a flock of white owls summoned from nowhere appeared before them, each with piercing eyes and sharp beaks. The birds attacked the colossus, blocking its vision and distracting it as it tried to free itself.
"Hey, Plastic Boy! Why don't you tangle its feet and knock it down?" Abel suggested, pointing urgently at the giant.
"I'm not a 'Plastic Boy!' I'm a kid with special abilities that let me stretch and elongate any part of my body," Benny retorted, though he quickly nodded. "But you're right. Let's use that to knock it over."
With a determined shout, Benny ran toward the colossus, stretching his limbs until it became an impossible net that wrapped around the giant's ankles. With a strong tug, he managed to destabilize it. The colossus fell with a monumental crash, shaking the ground beneath its feet.
Abel looked at Benny with a mix of admiration and exasperation.
"Not bad for a 'six-year-old,' huh?"
The boy stretched with agility, his arms and legs intertwining like a sturdy rope around the robot's ankles. As the white owls continued attacking the colossus from above, it lost its balance with a thunderous roar and fell backward, shaking the earth beneath their feet.
"Not bad, Benny," Abel said, crossing her arms as she watched the giant try to recover. Her tone was rather indifferent, but there was a glimmer of admiration in her eyes that she couldn't entirely hide. "Though I think we're not done yet."
Benny returned to his original form, breathing heavily from the effort. He glanced at the colossus, which was already beginning to rise again, and muttered a curse under his breath.
"You're right. What can we do to destroy it?" he asked, turning to her urgently.
Abel looked at him sideways, assessing him with a mix of arrogance and distrust.
"Well, if all you can do is stretch…" she began, leaving the sentence hanging in the air as a reminder of how limited she considered his power. Without giving him time to respond, she elegantly pulled out her wand and pronounced:
"LIGHT VIX."
Immediately, small ethereal creatures emerged from the light emanating from the wand. They were tiny fairies, with translucent wings that shimmered like fragments of crystal and golden swords in their hands. They seemed ready for battle, their bodies vibrating with magical energy.
"Alright, go for it!" Abel commanded, pointing decisively at the colossus. The fairies flew toward the giant with dizzying speed, wielding their swords and attacking its weak points. But no matter how hard they tried to pierce its rocky skin, they couldn't cause any damage. With an angry roar, the robot raised its hand and crushed several of them with a simple slap.
"Oh no! My little fairies!" Abel exclaimed, horrified as she watched her creatures vanish in flashes of light.
Benny, for his part, smiled internally, though he tried to maintain a neutral expression. It was a small reminder that she, too, could underestimate others.
"That's the best you can do, huh? I think we're doomed," Benny said sarcastically, raising an eyebrow.
"Well, you haven't done much either," Abel retorted, glaring at him.
"Yes, but my powers are too refined to use without thinking," she responded, clenching her fists in frustration.
"It might be because they don't affect it," he replied with a mocking smile.
Before they could continue arguing, the giant took a step forward, blocking any possible escape route. Benny made a quick decision. He transformed his legs into enormous springs and, in an agile movement, scooped Abel into his arms just before launching himself forward. They zigzagged at high speed between the stone structures as the colossus pursued them with heavy steps that shook the ground.
Abel, clinging to Benny as he ran, murmured silently:
"Where are you, brother?"
Finally, they reached the edge of a cliff. The sea roared below them, and the giant had cornered them with no way out. Benny looked around desperately, searching for a solution.
"We're trapped," he muttered, his voice tense.
The giant raised its massive arm, preparing to crush them. Abel closed her eyes tightly, whispering:
"Oh no! Maybe you'll survive that squishing, but I won't."
However, just before the colossus could touch them, something stopped its movement. A deafening roar echoed through the air, and both looked up. An imposing monster had appeared before them. Its twisted horns resembled those of an ancient demon, and its body was covered in black scales that gleamed under the sunlight. On its shoulder, a familiar figure calmly observed them.
"It's him! It's my brother!" Abel shouted, relief and joy flooding her voice. "Finally, I've found you, Cain!"
