The fall of Kaelon and Crix had marked the end of
a war that had bled into every corner of Quantum Bay and beyond. The Segrito
forces, their leadership dismantled, retreated into the shadows. Peace, however
uneasy, began to settle. But for Kyrin Vyvron, The
Firearm Master, the fight was far from over.
The Escort
Unit—Kyrin's elite team of S-rank assassins—had retreated to Shadow
Syndrome, a top-secret assassin's base hidden deep within
Neo-Shinkoku. The facility was a fortress, shrouded in mystery and
secured by layers of Prismal Flux barriers and Quantum Encryption Nodes. It was here that
the next phase of their mission began: the interrogation of Aether Dravik, one of
Segrito's highest-ranking informants.
The room was dimly
lit, an air of tension thickening the atmosphere. Aether sat bound to a Flux-Reinforced
Restraint Chair, his face calm but his eyes betraying a flicker of
fear. The silence was broken by the heavy sound of approaching footsteps—Kyrin
Vyvron entering the room.
Without a word,
Kyrin drew his Custom Revolver—Eclipse Wrath—and
pressed its cold barrel against Aether's temple.
"What is Segrito's plan?" Kyrin's voice
was ice, his words controlled but seething with restrained
fury.
Aether smiled, but
it was a weak and fractured thing. "You've already won, Kyrin. What more could
you possibly want?"
Kyrin's finger
tightened on the trigger. "Answers."
The smile
vanished. Aether sighed, his bravado slipping. "Kaelon was given orders to reconquer
the Abyss—to reclaim the power Segrito believes rightfully belongs to
them. He was on a mission to find an energy source capable of awakening the
Abyss, an ancient force that's been dormant for centuries."
Kyrin's eyes
narrowed. "What kind of energy source?"
Aether hesitated.
"Talk. Or I pull the trigger."
"Neo-Shin Flux Energy," Aether blurted
out. "It's a rare and powerful energy—one of the few sources capable of resurrecting
the Abyss. Kaelon found a Segrito supplier who could channel it, but your
interference disrupted their operation. When you killed Kaelon and Crix… their
plan fell apart."
Rin and Senjuro
listened in silence from the observation room, their faces grim.
Aether continued. "The failure cost them dearly. With their leaders gone and their
forces scattered, Segrito will retreat for now. The Abyss remains dormant, and
their dream of conquering Nation Vortex, Solara, Aqualis,
and Quantum Bay has
crumbled. But make no mistake…" Aether's eyes flickered with something dark. "This is only a setback."
Before Kyrin could
respond, the room's temperature plummeted.
Aether's body
convulsed violently, his veins turning black with Dark Ripple Energy. The air
around him distorted, and his flesh began to crack and disintegrate, as if being
consumed from within.
"What's happening?!" Rin's voice crackled
over the comm.
Aether's eyes met
Kyrin's one last time. "You think this is
over? The Abyss… is never truly silent."
And then he exploded,
a surge of Dark Ripple Energy erupting outward, sending shockwaves
through the room. Kyrin was thrown backward, the walls scorched and fractured.
The energy dissipated as quickly as it had appeared, leaving behind only
silence and Aether's empty restraints, smoldering in
the aftermath.
Senjuro's voice
broke the quiet. "Kyrin… what the hell
was that?"
Kyrin rose slowly;
his eyes fixed on the spot where Aether had been. He holstered his revolver,
his voice calm but heavy.
"A warning."
Rin's eyes were still
fixed on the scorched chair where Aether Dravik had just disintegrated moments
ago, his body consumed by the very energy Segrito had been trying to harness.
The room was silent, the weight of what had just happened settling heavily around
them. Finally, Rin broke the quiet.
"What… what did he mean
by that? What kind of warning was that?" he asked, his voice edged with
unease.
Kyrin Vyvron, ever calm
and collected, holstered his revolver and turned toward him. His usually sharp
expression was even more serious than usual. "It means Segrito isn't done.
Not even close," Kyrin said, his voice low and steady. "They've
retreated for now, but this was just a setback for them. They're regrouping
planning something on an even larger scale. And when they come back… it won't
just be Quantum Bay or Solara in danger. They'll come for everything."
The room went still. The
air seemed heavier with the weight of those words. Rin swallowed hard, his mind
already racing through the possibilities. Senjuro stood quietly by the door,
his usual smirk replaced with a rare look of concern.
Before anyone could
respond, the Umbra Nexus on Kyrin's wrist vibrated with an
urgent message. A soft chime followed, and a holographic interface projected
from the device. Kyrin's eyes scanned the message quickly, and his expression
hardened.
"All assassins are to
assemble at the Eclipse Syndicate Hub in Neo-Kyoto immediately."
"Neo-Kyoto?" Rin echoed;
eyes wide. "It's the headquarters of the entire Eclipse Syndicate! This has
to be big."
Kyrin nodded. "It is."
Without wasting another second, he opened a secure channel to his Escort
Unit—a team of elite S-rank assassins known for their skill and loyalty. "Spread
the word. We move out for Neo-Kyoto immediately."
The message was brief, but
everyone knew what it meant. A call to the Eclipse Syndicate Hub was no small
matter—it only happened when the situation was dire. The war against Segrito
might have ended for now, but the storm was far from over.
The Journey to Neo-Kyoto
The trio returned to
Kyrin's mansion in Nova-Prime and wasted no time packing their bags. They knew
whatever awaited them in Neo-Kyoto was going to require preparation. Weapons
were cleaned and loaded, tech gear was double-checked, and travel packs were carefully
stocked.
As the sun dipped below
the horizon, they set out in the Onyx Ascend 999X—a Neon-Runner luxury
transport capable of blazing speeds and high-level stealth cloaking.
The journey to Neo-Kyoto was long, but the atmosphere inside the vehicle was a
mix of anticipation and tension.
After four hours
of travel, the towering skyline of Neo-Kyoto came into view—a gleaming
metropolis of neon lights and advanced architecture, where Prismal
Flux energy pulsed through the very heart of the city. But their
destination lay beyond the bustling urban sprawl.
They pulled up to Senjuro's
mansion, a sprawling estate perched on the outskirts of the city. It was a fortress
of modern design, sleek and imposing, powered by cutting-edge tech and
built with security in mind. As they entered, the automated systems came to
life, lights illuminating the grand entryway as the Echo-Guardian
AI greeted them.
Kyrin let out a low
whistle. "You've got a nice place here, Senjuro."
Senjuro grinned, clearly
pleased. "Thanks. It's nothing compared to your Embersea Resort, but it does
the job."
Rin looked around; his
eyes wide. "You guys really live in style, huh?"
"Perks of being
assassins with taste," Senjuro teased.
After a long journey and
the weight of everything they had been through, the three needed a break.
Senjuro's eyes lit up with an idea. "Hey, why don't we unwind a bit? Wanna
play that game we played back at the mansion?"
Kyrin and Rin exchanged
glances and grinned. "Heck yeah!" they said in unison.
Senjuro wasted no time
setting up the Inferno Nexus Prime, a high-end gaming
console powered by Prismal Flux technology, known for its hyper-realistic
simulations and combat training programs. The game they played was a tactical
first-person shooter, perfect for sharpening their reflexes and
improving their aim—though for them, it was just as much about the fun.
The room was soon filled
with laughter and competitive banter, the tension of the day
melting away as they got lost in the virtual battlefield. Even Kyrin, usually
so composed, couldn't help but get swept up in the excitement.
"Headshot!" Rin
cheered, his character taking down one of Senjuro's in-game allies.
"You're cheating, I
swear," Senjuro grumbled, trying to retaliate.
Kyrin smirked. "You
guys better keep up. I'm on a kill streak."
They played for hours, the
outside world momentarily forgotten. Eventually, exhaustion caught up with
them, and one by one, they drifted off to sleep—recharging for the big day
ahead.
As dawn approached, the
city of Neo-Kyoto hummed with life outside the walls of Senjuro's estate. But
inside, the house was quiet. The three assassins slept deeply, their bodies and
minds preparing for whatever lay ahead.
Tomorrow, they would walk
into the Eclipse Syndicate Hub, a place where the world's
most powerful assassins gathered—and they knew that whatever news awaited
them there would change everything.
But for tonight, they
rested. And in the silence of the early morning, the storm gathered strength.
Morning broke over Neo-Kyoto, the city's neon
lights dimming as the first rays of sunlight cast long shadows over the
towering skyscrapers. Inside Senjuro's estate, the trio woke to the hum of the
automated systems. The day they had been waiting for had finally arrived.
Kyrin was the first
to get ready, his usual composure masking the anticipation building inside him.
Rin, still half-asleep, stumbled into the room after freshening up, his hair
sticking up in every direction. Senjuro followed shortly after, looking far more
composed but equally eager.
"You guys ready for this?" Kyrin asked,
adjusting his signature black trench coat and strapping his weapons into place.
"Ready as we'll ever be," Senjuro replied
with a grin.
"I still don't know what's going down, but I'm here
for it," Rin added, his excitement barely contained.
Their Onyx
Ascend 999X pulled up to
the estate's sleek driveway, the engine purring like a beast ready to be
unleashed. The trio climbed in, and soon they were speeding through the streets
of Neo-Kyoto toward the Eclipse Syndicate Hub—a massive,
fortress-like complex hidden behind layers of Prismal Flux shielding and high-tech security.
The Hub was
already bustling when they arrived. Assassins of C-Rank
and above had gathered
in the vast assembly hall, their conversations a low murmur of speculation and
curiosity. The air was thick with tension and excitement. Everyone knew that
something big was about to happen.
Suddenly, the
lights dimmed, and the murmurs fell silent. A spotlight illuminated the stage
at the front of the hall, and a figure stepped forward.
Zyher Krueger.
The room's
atmosphere shifted instantly. An S-Rank assassin and the man responsible for managing
all affairs of the Syndicate Rank Council (SRN), Zyher
commanded respect without a word. His presence alone was enough to send a
ripple of anticipation through the crowd.
He surveyed the
gathered assassins with a steely gaze before speaking. "A warm welcome to all assassins present here,"
he began, his voice firm and commanding. "As you all know, Segrito has unleashed devastating attacks on our
nations. They have struck with a force we were barely prepared for—and though
we have pushed them back, their retreat is temporary. They will return,
stronger and more dangerous than ever."
The crowd shifted
uneasily. The memory of Segrito's attacks was still fresh cities in ruins,
lives lost, and battles fought on the edge of survival.
"To counter this threat, we must be stronger.
Smarter. More prepared." Zyher's voice rose, filled with conviction. "And
to protect our nations, I—Zyher Krueger—hereby declare the commencement of the Eclipse
Agent Exams!"
The hall erupted.
Gasps, whispers, and exclamations filled the air. The Eclipse
Agent Exams were
legendary, a rare and brutal test designed to push assassins to their absolute
limits. Those who passed were promoted to A-Rank (Tier-1)—a distinction reserved
for only the most elite. Passing also meant a chance to be recruited into
high-level units, like Kyrin's Escort, and take on the most
dangerous and prestigious missions the Syndicate had to offer.
Kyrin crossed his
arms, a faint smile playing on his lips. He had passed the exams years ago, and
now he stood among the best. He knew exactly how hard the road ahead would be
for anyone daring enough to take the challenge.
Zyher raised a
hand, and the noise died down. "The exams
will commence in three months. Those selected to participate will receive a
direct message on their comms, along with the names of their assigned S-Rank
trainers."
The mention of
S-Rank trainers only heightened the excitement. Training under assassins of
such high caliber was an opportunity few ever got. The room was electric with
anticipation.
As the crowd began
to disperse, conversations exploded around them. Speculation about who would be
chosen and what kind of trials they would face spread like wildfire.
"Three months, huh?" Senjuro said
thoughtfully. "Looks like things are
about to get interesting."
"Interesting?" Rin laughed nervously. "That sounds like code for 'life-threatening.'"
Kyrin chuckled. "You're not wrong. But if you want to stand
against Segrito, this is the only way to get stronger."
As they left the hall, the weight of what lay ahead settled
over them. The countdown had begun—and soon, they would find out just how far
they were willing to go to become Eclipse Agents.
