The early morning
mist still lingered in the air as Syvian and Senjuro strolled
through the quiet pathways of the Ninja Shrine District. The world
was peaceful, only the distant rustling of leaves and the occasional chirping
of birds breaking the silence.
As they walked, Senjuro glanced
at Syvian, a curious look in his eyes. "Syvian, why did you only
call me for this walk?"
Syvian smirked. "Because
those fools won't wake up, and Kairen will join us soon anyway."
Senjuro raised a
brow. "By the way, I heard one of the guards at your mansion
talking about Kairen. They called him the 'Stormborn King.' What exactly is
that about?"
Syvian chuckled. "That's
his title. He earned it by facing every mission fearlessly, and he's never lost
a single battle. The name 'Stormborn King' represents his unshakable will and
relentless strength."
As they continued walking,
they were suddenly taken aback by a familiar figure standing in front
of them—Kairen himself.
Senjuro folded his
arms. "You got here before us, huh?"
Kairen smirked, his golden
eyes flashing with confidence. "The King never loses—whether it's
a small race or a life-ending battle."
Syvian rolled his
eyes. "Okay, okay, Mr. King."
The three of them
continued their walk through the park, the crisp morning air
invigorating them. However, an unsettling presence loomed nearby.
Syvian felt it
first—the faint trace of movement behind them, the sensation of someone
watching. His instincts sharpened, and in an instant, his hand flew to
his kunai, swiftly pressing the blade against the neck of the
approaching figure.
A voice laughed
softly. "Chill, bro!"
Syvian's eyes widened in
shock as he stepped back. "Sylvia?! What are you doing here?"
Senjuro, still on guard,
looked between them. "Who exactly is this girl?"
With an exasperated sigh,
Syvian gestured toward her. "This is Sylvia Kurogiri, my
cousin—and the most annoying member of my family, if you ask me."
Sylvia smirked, flipping
her long black hair over her shoulder. "Oh
please, Syvian, don't be so dramatic."
Before Syvian could
retort, Sylvia turned her attention to Senjuro. "You're Senjuro
Kaine, right? I've heard a lot of great things about you and Kyrin! In fact,
I'm your biggest fan!"
Senjuro, taken aback,
nodded politely. "It's my pleasure, Sylvia."
Syvian gaped at
them. "Wait a minute! You push me into a chair just to fangirl
over my friend?"
Sylvia gave him a teasing
grin. "Oh Syvian, you just can't keep your mouth shut for even a
few seconds, can you?"
With a sigh, Syvian let it
go, knowing he wouldn't win against her. The group continued their walk toward
the district entrance, ready to return to the mansion—unaware that
the morning's unexpected meeting was only the beginning of what lay ahead.
As they neared the entrance
of the Ninja Shrine District, Kairen turned to the
others. "Me and Senjuro will go get my car. You both wait
here."
With that, Kairen and
Senjuro walked off toward the parking area, leaving Syvian and Sylvia standing
near the grand torii gate of the district.
The morning air was still
cool, and Syvian leaned against a stone pillar, his arms crossed. "So,
Sylvia, what exactly are you doing here? Just following me around?"
Sylvia smirked. "Oh
please, you think I have nothing better to do. I just happened to be in the
area."
Syvian rolled his
eyes. "Sure, you did."
Before Sylvia could fire
back a response, a shadowy figure stepped into the district,
walking towards them with an unsettling air of confidence. Syvian immediately
sensed something was off—his instincts screamed danger, but before
he could react, the man lunged forward.
With lightning
speed, the stranger drove his foot into Syvian's stomach,
sending him crashing into the stone pavement. A sharp jolt of pain coursed
through his body as he gasped for air.
Before Sylvia could
scream, the man grabbed her by the wrist and forcefully shoved
her into a waiting Urban Runner—a high-speed tactical vehicle
designed for quick getaways. The doors slammed shut, and in an
instant, the vehicle sped away, its engines roaring as it vanished down the
neon-lit streets of Neo-Shinkoku.
Syvian clutched
his stomach, groaning in pain as he struggled to push himself up.
A few moments later, Kairen
and Senjuro returned, only to find Syvian collapsed on the ground.
Senjuro rushed over. "Syvian!
What happened?"
Syvian coughed, barely
managing to speak. "A man… he came out of nowhere. Kicked me in
the stomach… grabbed Sylvia and took off in an Urban Runner… I tried to move,
but…" He clenched his fists. "Damn it… I was too
slow."
Kairen's golden
eyes darkened with anger. "Senjuro, get Syvian in my car.
I'm going after them."
Senjuro nodded and helped
Syvian to his feet, supporting his weight as they moved toward the sleek black
vehicle parked nearby.
As they did, Kairen closed
his eyes for a split second, then whispered, "Stormborn
Instinct."
In the blink of an eye,
his body surged with raw energy, and before Senjuro could even
react, Kairen vanished in a blur of speed, dashing down the street
at an almost inhuman velocity, his sharp senses locked onto
Sylvia's trail.
Senjuro tightened his grip
on Syvian. "Come on, we need to follow him!"
With that, he gunned
the engine, and the pursuit began.
Kairen moved like a phantom
in the wind, weaving effortlessly through the congested streets of Neo-Shinkoku.
His Stormborn Instinct allowed him to tap into his primal
lightning energy, enhancing his speed and reflexes to a superhuman level.
His eyes glowed faintly as he tracked the Urban Runner, following
the faint energy trail Sylvia's presence left behind.
Up ahead, the Urban
Runner tore through the city streets, its blackened windows
concealing the captors inside. Sylvia struggled in the backseat; her
hands tied behind her back.
The driver, a masked man
with cold gray eyes, glanced at the rearview mirror. "We
have a problem."
The man sitting beside
him, a tall figure clads in a dark assassin's garb, turned his head
slightly. "What is it?"
The driver gritted his
teeth. "We're being followed. Someone's fast. Faster than anything
I've ever seen."
The second man
smirked. "Then let's give him a real challenge."
With a sharp flick
of his wrist, he pressed a button on the dashboard, activating
a defensive countermeasure.
Suddenly, from the back of
the Urban Runner, a set of drones deployed, each one
armed with plasma turrets.
Kairen, still sprinting at
inhuman speed, saw them appear. His eyes narrowed. "So, they're
gonna make this difficult, huh?"
The drones locked
onto him, their targeting systems beeping as they fired bursts of blue
plasma.
Kairen twisted
mid-air, dodging the attacks with precise agility. As he flipped over one
blast, he drew a kunai, charged it with lightning energy,
and hurled it at the nearest drone. The weapon pierced through the
machine, sending it exploding in mid-air.
Meanwhile, Senjuro
and Syvian were not far behind in Kairen's car.
Senjuro gripped the wheel
tightly. "This is insane! Kairen is literally outrunning
cars!"
Syvian, still recovering,
smirked weakly. "That's the Stormborn King for you."
They watched as Kairen
continued his pursuit, taking down one drone after another, closing
the distance between him and the speeding Urban Runner.
Up ahead, the driver saw
Kairen gaining. "He's still coming!"
The assassin next to him
sighed. "Guess I'll have to deal with him myself."
In one swift motion,
he opened the car door and leaped out—onto a nearby rooftop.
Kairen's sharp eyes locked
onto him. "So, you're the one behind this?"
The assassin smirked,
drawing a serrated dagger from his belt. "If you
want the girl back, come and get her."
Kairen skidded to a halt,
his electric aura crackling around him. "Fine. Let's
finish this."
And with that, the real
battle began.
