Chapter 16: Sophia’s Diary – A Journal Reveals Sophia’s Fears Before Her Death

Have you ever read someone else's private thoughts and felt like you were stepping into their world? That's what happened to Evelyn when she uncovered a journal belonging to the woman whose identity she had stolen.

The Journal Appears

After her harrowing escape from the hidden chamber, Evelyn returned to her apartment, clutching the items she'd taken with her. Among them was an old leather-bound journal tucked behind the box in the secret room. Its cover bore no markings, but inside, pages filled with neat handwriting told the story of a woman named Sophia Monroe.

At first, Evelyn hesitated. Was it right to invade this stranger's privacy? But curiosity—and fear—got the better of her. She opened the journal and began to read.

 Entering Sophia's World

The entries painted a picture of a woman torn between running and facing her demons. Each page revealed more about Sophia's struggles, her fears, and her growing sense of dread.

 March 12th,

They're watching me again. I saw shadows moving outside my window last night. At first, I thought it was just my imagination, but then I heard whispers—low voices saying my name.

Evelyn's breath caught. Shadows? Whispers? These details echoed her own experiences at Blackthorn Manor.

Further reading showed Sophia becoming increasingly paranoid, convinced that someone—or something—was after her. One entry stood out:

 April 5th,

I can't keep hiding. If they find out who I really am, they'll come for me. Claire says I'm being irrational, but I know what I saw. Something is wrong here, and it has to do with Blackthorn Manor.

 A Startling Revelation

As Evelyn flipped through the pages, she found another note tucked inside—a crumpled piece of paper bearing a single sentence:

If anything happens to me, look in the attic. They left evidence there.

Her heart raced. Evidence? What kind of evidence? And why did it sound so familiar?

Before she could dwell on it further, another entry caught her eye—one written days before Sophia's supposed death:

 May 3rd,

I think Claire knows more than she's letting on. She's been acting strange lately, distant. Is she protecting me—or covering up something herself?

Evelyn froze. This wasn't just about Sophia—it involved Claire too. The connections were piling up faster than she could process.

Plot Twist: A Personal Connection

A sudden realization struck her—the handwriting in the journal matched the notes she'd found earlier, including the cryptic warning about blaming "Sophia" for Claire's death. Could it be possible that Sophia and Claire were working together—or against each other?

And if so, where did Evelyn fit into all this? Was she living out someone else's nightmare without even realizing it?

Before she could answer these questions, the sound of footsteps echoed outside her apartment door. Someone—or something—was coming.

Escaping the Truth

Panicking, Evelyn shoved the journal under her mattress and grabbed her keys. She needed to get out, to clear her head. Running down the stairs, she slipped into the cool night air, her mind racing.

Who was following her? Why did everything seem to lead back to Blackthorn Manor? And most importantly, could she trust anyone—not even herself?

Suspenseful Questions

What evidence did Sophia leave in the attic, and does it connect to Claire's death? Is Evelyn truly living someone else's life—or creating her own version of it? And will uncovering the truth bring her closer to Liam—or push them apart forever?

You wouldn't ignore these questions, would you? Neither can Evelyn. As the lines between past and present blur, she begins to realize that sometimes, the hardest truths are the ones we've been hiding from ourselves.
