Chapter 17: A Hundred Years Later? Disappointed Return

"Let me finish, Dr. Myuu. I'm sure you won't feel the same after hearing me out..." Dr. Gero said with a sly smile, slowly beginning to narrate.

Dr. Myuu listened without showing any emotion, but soon his eyes filled with hatred. "Son Goku..."

"Exactly, he's our mutual enemy!" Dr. Gero's eyes brimmed with resentment.

"Well then..." Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero quickly reached a consensus.

"Pleasure working with you!"

Lin Qi knew all of this, but he couldn't care less.

What he cared about was finding an existence strong enough to force him to fight at full power, one capable of distorting time and space.

"Whoosh."

"So... this is a hundred years later?" Lin Qi's time machine appeared midair, and he leaned out to observe the scenery below.

Deafening cheers rose from beneath. On open-air, square-shaped tiered seating, a massive crowd had gathered.

It resembled a modern stadium but was much larger. Unlike a typical arena with grass fields, the center held a vast platform for combat.

"And now, the 36th match in the youth category—please welcome contestant Son Goku Jr. to the stage!"

An enthusiastic voice echoed, and the massive screen next to the platform displayed a miniature version of Son Goku.

"This...!" Lin Qi was momentarily stunned. Broly's grandson? Ribet? Had he somehow landed in the "Battle of the Century" arc from Dragon Ball GT?

He hastily scanned the life forces on Earth.

Gone.

Son Goku, Vegeta, Son Gohan, Trunks, Goten, Bra...

"This really is..." Lin Qi covered his face with his hand, his frustration beyond words.

He wanted to find strong opponents, not partake in childish sparring among descendants he couldn't even trace lineage to!

"Set coordinates to Age 789, shortly after Baby's demise..." Lin Qi took a deep breath and swiftly reset the time machine.

He had expected Saiyans to live much longer. Instead, a century later, he was treated to this scene.

Cheers from the platform continued. As Son Goku Jr. took his place, a miniature Vegeta stepped onto the stage.

Meanwhile, Lin Qi's time machine vanished from the sky.

"Whoosh."

The time machine reappeared midair, but this time the sky was dark and drizzling.

"What's that?" Vegeta, who had just exited the gravity chamber, frowned as he looked upward.

"Huh, isn't that the time machine I built for Lin Qi?" Bulma, holding an umbrella, glanced up from a nearby path.

She waved her hand and shouted at the time machine, "Lin Qi! Lin Qi... is that you back?"

Bulma ran closer and saw Lin Qi jumping out of the machine with a frustrated look. "How did it go? Not well?"

"It's already been three months!"

"Hmm..." Watching Bulma shrink the time machine into a capsule, Lin Qi responded nonchalantly.

Raindrops fell around him, but not a single drop landed on his hair.

"What's going on?" Vegeta, curious, walked over with a provocative smile. "Lin Qi, care for a sparring session?"

"Bulma, add some energy to the time machine!" Lin Qi said indifferently before smirking.

"You haven't improved much in combat strength! You need to work on your base power level!"

In a foul mood, Lin Qi saw Vegeta as the perfect outlet for his frustration.

"Hmph, same goes for you!" Vegeta scoffed confidently. "Let's go to the western wastelands and settle this!"

"Fine!" Lin Qi readily agreed, planning to beat Vegeta so badly he'd question his life choices.

"Not sure where you're getting your confidence after such a short time!" Lin Qi said, watching Vegeta fly off toward the sky.

In the wastelands, with light rain mingling with swirling yellow sand, Lin Qi and Vegeta faced each other.

Vegeta smirked confidently. "I've gotten much stronger since you left..."

"Ha-aaahhh!"

With a roar, Vegeta transformed into the same Super Saiyan 4 form as Son Goku.

His energy erupted, kicking up sand and creating a swirling sandstorm that rushed outward.

"Let me show you the results of my training!" Vegeta crouched slightly and launched himself at Lin Qi, as fast as a bullet from a chamber.

"Quite confident!" Lin Qi commented coolly, raising a palm to block Vegeta's punch.

The punch was clearly a feint, as Vegeta's foot lashed out toward Lin Qi's abdomen.

"Smart!" Lin Qi bent his arm, blocking the kick with his elbow.

"Is that so?" Vegeta twisted midair, aiming a second kick at Lin Qi's neck.

"Not bad, not bad!" Lin Qi caught Vegeta's ankle, raising an eyebrow. "For you, at least!"

With that, Lin Qi hurled Vegeta into the distance.

"Rustle..."

Vegeta steadied himself in midair and retaliated with a flurry of energy blasts.

"Ha-ya-ya-ya-ya!"

It was his usual "Prince of All Saiyans" style.

Smoke from the explosions obscured Lin Qi's figure, and Vegeta paused his assault.

"Behind you!" Vegeta spun and swung his fist.

Lin Qi stood behind him, blocking the punch. "My turn now!"

A light punch from Lin Qi sent Vegeta flying into the sky.

"Urgh..." Clutching his stomach, Vegeta felt waves of pain and nausea.

"Again..." Vegeta dove back down, swinging his fist at Lin Qi once more.

Time and again, Vegeta attacked only to be blocked and countered, his frustration growing as he gritted his teeth.

"Are you toying with me?" Vegeta roared, kicking at Lin Qi.

"Hmm..." Lin Qi sidestepped, kicking Vegeta in the back and sending him sprawling into the sand.

"Damn it..." Vegeta spat out sand, glaring angrily. Why did he even suggest this?

"Hey..." A few streaks of light shot across the sky, heading toward them.

"Haha! I knew it! Lin Qi, you're back?" Son Goku stood in midair, arms crossed, grinning widely.

Lin Qi blocked Vegeta's punch and nodded at Goku. "Yeah, I'm back."

"Get lost, Kakarot! Stop interrupting my fight with Lin Qi!" Vegeta angrily pulled back his fist, glaring at Goku.
