One of the deacons in purple robes watched as Lin Yongming ran back into the village and approached Bibi Dong.

"Your Highness, the Holy Maiden, do you really plan to bring him along? His perception is impressive, but at the end of the day, he's just a blind man."

"That's right. We don't know for sure if there's an evil soul master in the Cangli Mountains, but we can be certain that someone at the Soul Sage level is there. Won't he just slow us down?" another deacon added.

From their perspective, a mere Grand Soul Master was far too weak. After all, they themselves were deacons of the Purple Robe rank—both at the Contra level.

Behind them stood ten elite members. Nine were at the Soul Emperor level, and the last was their team captain, a Soul Sage.

"It's fine. If he dares to venture into the Star Dou Forest alone to hunt soul beasts, he's no ordinary coward. I believe his strength isn't limited to what he showed in our battle; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to defeat a Soul Ancestor, especially when his opponent was two entire realms above him. Even though that Soul Ancestor had a rather weak white-yellow-yellow-purple soul ring configuration."

"Besides, I'm also curious about the 'waves' he mentioned. In the rugged and uneven terrain of the Cangli Mountains, will he still be able to use them properly? Will his ability be affected?" Bibi Dong said, watching Lin Yongming's retreating figure.

"Understood, Your Highness."

The two deacons had no choice but to comply. However, deep down, they were still worried.

"We don't even know the strength of this evil soul master. Bringing along a seven-year-old child… won't he just be a burden?"

About ten minutes later, Lin Yongming returned home. Just as he arrived, his mother, Yinglan, had come back from the fields, preparing to cook.

"Mom, I joined the Spirit Hall today. They gave me these gold soul coins and a token. You and Dad can keep the money." Lin Yongming smiled as he explained.

"The Spirit Hall, huh? My Ming'er has a bright future ahead of him! But you should keep the money. I've heard that soul master training requires a lot of gold soul coins. Your father and I don't need much to get by at home."

"Oh, right, Ming'er, does this mean you'll be leaving to train with the Spirit Hall? Will I not see you for a long time? How many years will you be gone?" Yinglan asked, her voice filled with reluctance. She didn't take the pouch of gold soul coins, instead looking at her son with concern.

"Mom, you're overthinking it. I do have to go with them for now to report to the Spirit Hall and complete some procedures, but I'll be back in a few days. So, please, keep the money." Lin Yongming gently held Yinglan's hand as he reassured her.

"I see… alright. I'll keep it safe for you. Go ahead, then. I'll explain everything to your father when he returns. Don't worry about us. But you, on the other hand, need to be careful. The outside world isn't like our village. Don't be reckless like last time. Your safety comes first." Yinglan reminded him.

"I understand, Mom. I promise I'll prioritize my own well-being. You and Dad don't need to worry about me—I'll take good care of myself."

"Alright, Mom, I'm leaving now." Lin Yongming let go of her hand, bowed deeply, and turned to walk away.

By the time he returned to Bibi Dong and the others, she was already seated in the carriage.

"Blind kid, get in. You're the only one we're waiting for," Bibi Dong called out, sticking her head out of the carriage.

Lin Yongming paused. "Your Highness, this… wouldn't be appropriate."

"It's fine. You're just a child—and a blind one at that. You'll have a tough time once we reach the Cangli Mountains anyway." Bibi Dong waved off his concerns.

"In that case, I'll take you up on your offer." Lin Yongming could only accept and step into the luxurious carriage.

This carriage was pulled by two exceptionally fine horses with traces of soul beast blood in them. The cabin itself was spacious enough to comfortably seat four adults without feeling cramped.

"Lin Yongming… Xiao Ming… Blind kid…"

"I think I'll just call you 'blind kid.' It rolls off the tongue. You don't mind, do you?" Bibi Dong asked with amusement as the carriage began moving.

"I don't mind. The kids in my village call me that all the time. Your Highness can call me whatever you like." Lin Yongming nodded.

Bibi Dong paused briefly before continuing in a calm tone. "You say you perceive the world through 'waves'—that you can sense even the slightest ripple. But how do you differentiate between them? Doesn't it all become overwhelming and noisy?"

Lin Yongming chuckled. "Your Highness, that's precisely the key to my training. For example, right now, I can sense the ripple of a small stone kicked up by the carriage, bouncing into the grass. I can also sense the fluttering of birds along the roadside. The ability to differentiate between these ripples comes from experience."

Bibi Dong listened carefully and nodded slightly before asking another question. "Then what's the range of your perception? Within that range, is there anything that can escape your senses?"

"Hmm…"

Lin Yongming thought for a few seconds before replying, "About seventy meters in radius. Naturally, the farther something is, the weaker the ripple I can perceive."

Bibi Dong watched him closely, observing his expression.

"You hesitated just now. Are you holding something back?"

Lin Yongming smiled. "Your Highness, are you trying to pry out all my secrets?"

"Of course not. Everyone has their own secrets. If you don't want to say, I won't force you." Bibi Dong smirked.

Then, she continued, "But since you rely on these waves in battle, doesn't that mean sneak attacks are useless against you? Or what if your opponent attacks from beyond seventy meters? How would you defend against that?"

"It doesn't matter. Even if they attack from a hundred meters away, the moment their attack enters my perception range, it will be just as clear as if they were right in front of me."

"Hearing you describe it like this, I feel like having eyes is a disadvantage compared to you. It's like… your entire body is one giant eye," Bibi Dong remarked in fascination.

"I've already said it before—so long as my heart continues beating, my body is my eyes," Lin Yongming replied.

"This 'wave perception' of yours sounds incredible. I'm almost tempted to learn it myself. Tell me, blind kid, do you think I can master it?" Bibi Dong asked with curiosity.

"You can learn it. But first, you'd have to gouge out your eyes. That way, you'd progress twice as fast. Then, endure several years of total darkness, and maybe—just maybe—you'd be able to grasp the ability."

"So, Your Highness… still interested?" Lin Yongming smirked.

"Uh…"

Bibi Dong hesitated before saying, "Do I have to be blind?"

"You can't truly focus if your eyes still work. How could you possibly perceive the world through waves?"

"Then I suppose this technique isn't for me," Bibi Dong admitted with an awkward laugh.

"Honestly, you can learn it without blinding yourself. But you'd probably never reach a high level of mastery. It'd be a waste of time and would only hinder your soul power training. Besides, isn't it wonderful to see the beauty of the world? Why bother with my 'twisted' method?" Lin Yongming explained.

"You have a point. Being able to see the world's vibrant colors is a blessing," Bibi Dong agreed.

The Cangli Mountains were barren and rugged, stretching over twenty kilometers. With little tree cover, the slopes were covered in dull yellowish-brown grass. The highest peak stood at over four thousand meters, with an average altitude of three thousand meters.
