Qian Xunji stood up and began questioning Lin Yongming. "Our Spirit Hall has always been fair. If you want something, you must earn it with your own strength."
"Is it true that you absorbed a ten-thousand-year spirit ring for your fourth spirit ring because of your external spirit bone and mental strength? If there's really a method, you can share it. Anything that benefits the Spirit Hall will be credited to you."
Earlier, the Chrysanthemum Douluo had reported everything Lin Yongming had said in Heaven Dou City to Qian Xunji. However, now that Qian Xunji was seeing Lin Yongming in person, he wanted to ask again.
"Your Holiness, I truly have no special method. If I had to say something, it would be to strengthen physical training and temper one's mental state. When both physical and mental strength improve, the absorption of higher-year spirit rings becomes possible," Lin Yongming replied earnestly and without a hint of a smile.
"Very well. This must be your fate. It's not something that can be forced. Since it's your first time in Spirit City, you probably don't have a place to stay. Since you hold the Yellow Record Medal I bestowed upon you, you're now considered a mid-level member. You can stay in the secondary hall."
"Dong'er, arrange an empty room in the secondary hall. Today, show Lin Yongming around and familiarize him with the surroundings. Tomorrow, take him to the Spirit Academy to meet the other members," Qian Xunji instructed, arranging Lin Yongming's accommodations.
"Yes, Teacher!"
"Thank you, Your Holiness!"
After bowing, Lin Yongming and the others left the Pope's Hall.
"Both of you, I'm not sure if there are any empty rooms in the secondary hall. Let's go and check," Bibi Dong said helplessly.
"It's fine. If there's no room, A'yin and I can stay at a hotel," Lin Yongming replied with a slight smile.
"Let's check first," Bibi Dong said, leading the way.
After inquiring at the management office, it turned out there were no available rooms in the secondary hall, let alone the front hall where the guards stayed.
Bibi Dong had no choice but to report this to Qian Xunji.
"Then arrange for them to stay at the Spirit Hotel nearby," Qian Xunji instructed.
Bibi Dong then led the two to a five-story hotel located to the right of the Spirit Hall, near the square.
From the outside, it was clear that the hotel rooms were not cheap.
"The Spirit Hotel is a partner of our Spirit Hall. Guests are usually accommodated here. There are two Spirit Hotels—the other one is on the left side of the square," Bibi Dong explained as she led Lin Yongming and the others into the hotel lobby.
"Saintess!" The two receptionists greeted respectfully as they approached the front desk.
"Get me two rooms," Bibi Dong said immediately.
"Two rooms? One is enough," Lan Yinhuang interjected, linking her arm with Lin Yongming's and smiling at Bibi Dong.
"No, Xiao Ming is at a crucial stage in his spirit power training. I think it's better for you to stay separately," Bibi Dong retorted, displeased.
"Xiao Ming and I are engaged. It's only natural for us to stay together," Lan Yinhuang said, shaking the necklace around her neck.
"Besides, if Xiao Ming stays alone, who knows if you'll sneak into his room in the middle of the night," Lan Yinhuang added.
"Alright, alright, let's just get one room with two bedrooms," Lin Yongming said, rubbing his ears and stopping the two women from bickering.
"Saintess, should I book a room with two bedrooms?" the receptionist asked cautiously.
"Do as he says," Bibi Dong replied, annoyed.
"Alright, let me check," the receptionist said, flipping through the ledger.
"Room 202 is available. How about that?" the receptionist confirmed.
"That's fine. We're not picky," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Please follow me. I'll take you up."
They quickly found Room 202 on the second floor. The receptionist opened the door and handed them the key.
The room was tidy and odorless.
"This room is nice. It has everything we need, over a hundred square meters, and even a balcony overlooking the hotel courtyard," Lan Yinhuang said, inspecting the room.
"Of course. Since it's a hotel for guests of the Spirit Hall, the partnered hotel naturally has to be good," Bibi Dong replied proudly.
"Saintess, we'll stay here then," Lin Yongming said, clasping his hands in gratitude.
"By the way, when does the Continental Elite Spirit Master Tournament start?" Lin Yongming asked curiously as he sat on the sofa.
"The preliminaries in the two empires will begin in a month. As the Spirit Hall team, we're a seeded team. We'll only enter the finals after the two empires have selected their 32 teams."
"So, we have about three months to prepare," Bibi Dong explained, sitting beside Lin Yongming.
"I see. What about the other team members? How strong are they?" Lin Yongming asked again.
"They're all at the Spirit Ancestor level. Tomorrow morning, I'll come to pick you up and take you to the Spirit Academy to meet them. We'll also see if the simulated training environment is effective for you," Bibi Dong patiently explained.
These questions were nothing out of the ordinary, so Bibi Dong answered them in detail.
"Alright, I'll see for myself tomorrow," Lin Yongming nodded.
"Actually, there's no rush. Even if the two of us don't participate, the Spirit Hall team is quite strong. We know that the teams from the two empires aren't particularly impressive this year."
"So, we're just going through the motions to build our reputation."
"Of course, the reason Teacher called you here is as a precaution and to intimidate the others," Bibi Dong revealed.
"So, my Xiao Ming is just a tool, huh?" Lan Yinhuang said, displeased.
"It's a win-win. Xiao Ming will gain reputation, which will help him advance further in the Spirit Hall," Bibi Dong replied awkwardly.
"Alright, it's been a busy morning, and I'm hungry. Since you've come from afar, I'll treat you to some of Spirit City's specialties today," Bibi Dong said, standing up and changing the subject.
"Thank you. What are we eating? Something delicious?" Lan Yinhuang asked curiously.
"Hehe, you'll see," Bibi Dong said with a mysterious smile.
The three of them left the hotel and, led by Bibi Dong, headed down a street.
"This is the place—crispy roast duck. It's absolutely delicious! I can finish a whole duck by myself!" Bibi Dong said excitedly as they arrived at their destination.
"Pfft, I've had roast duck in Heaven Dou City before. What's so special about this?" Lan Yinhuang scoffed.
"No, no, this is crispy roast duck, not Heaven Dou roast duck. Just come in and try it," Bibi Dong said, striding through the door.
"Boss, three crispy roast ducks, please!"
Since Bibi Dong was treating them, the other two didn't argue and followed her into a private room.
Soon, three golden, crispy, and tender roast ducks were brought to the table.
The server began slicing the ducks in front of them.
"Please enjoy your meal!" the server said before leaving the room.
"Let's eat while it's hot. There are various dipping sauces on the table," Bibi Dong said, picking up her chopsticks.
"Mmm! Not bad. The skin is crispy, and the meat is tender. The texture is amazing," Lan Yinhuang praised after taking a bite.
"See? I didn't lie," Bibi Dong said happily.
"Xiao Ming, eat up."
After finishing their meal, it was almost 1 PM when they stepped back onto the street.
"Teacher asked me to show you around, so I'll take you around the Spirit Hall today," Bibi Dong said.
"Sure, let's walk and talk. You can tell us about the unique culture and special rules of Spirit City compared to other cities," Lin Yongming suggested.
"Alright, let's walk and talk," Bibi Dong agreed, positioning herself to Lin Yongming's right.
And so, the tall Lin Yongming walked between the two women, drawing many glances from passersby.
They spent the afternoon touring the area around the Spirit Hall. After dinner, Bibi Dong reluctantly returned to the Spirit Hall.
She had wanted to stay at the hotel a bit longer, but Lan Yinhuang found various excuses to send her away.
"Dong'er, how did things go with Lin Yongming?" Qian Xunji asked casually.
"Teacher, everything has been arranged. I also took them around the Spirit Hall and introduced them to the city," Bibi Dong replied formally.
"Earlier today, I could tell that Lin Yongming's strength far surpasses yours. But he gave us face. In the future, he'll be a valuable asset to you," Qian Xunji explained with a smile.
"Teacher, I didn't notice that," Bibi Dong said, surprised.
"That's why they say those involved are often blind to the truth. Even though his spirit power level is two ranks below yours, the quality of his spirit power is superior. His spirit rings are one yellow, two purple, and two black. Combined with his ten-thousand-year external spirit bone, I believe his true strength is at the Spirit Emperor level," Qian Xunji analyzed.
"I see. I thought he was going all out earlier," Bibi Dong said, feeling somewhat defeated.
"Don't worry. I just hope you use this opportunity to reflect. I know you're proud and believe no one your age can match you. Now that you've met Lin Yongming, I hope you'll learn not to underestimate the hidden geniuses of the continent," Qian Xunji advised earnestly.
"I understand, Teacher," Bibi Dong said, her head lowered in disappointment.
"Alright, I'm not really scolding you. Once you start cultivating your second spirit, I believe you'll far surpass Lin Yongming," Qian Xunji said before leaving.
Bibi Dong, who had been feeling somewhat proud earlier, now felt as if she had been doused with cold water.
"That blind guy actually held back," Bibi Dong muttered angrily as she returned to her room.
At the hotel, Lin Yongming and Lan Yinhuang sat together.
"A'yin, you met the Pope of the Spirit Hall this morning. What do you think of him?" Lin Yongming asked.
"He seems alright. He has some airs, but that's understandable for someone in his position," Lan Yinhuang replied after some thought.
"What did your mind's eye see?" Lan Yinhuang asked in return.
"Well, the Pope's emotions were very stable. The only time I sensed a hint of coldness was when I accidentally pinned Bibi Dong during our spar," Lin Yongming said slowly.
"I didn't notice that," Lan Yinhuang admitted.
Of course, she hadn't noticed. At the time, her attention had been entirely focused on Lin Yongming and Bibi Dong.
"Speaking of that, were you happy to have a beauty like her fawning over you? Did it feel good pinning her down? Was she soft?" Lan Yinhuang teased, her tone tinged with jealousy.
"A'yin, you're just teasing me now. But Bibi Dong used her fourth spirit skill, and her body was covered in thorns. If anything, I was the one who got hurt," Lin Yongming said helplessly.
"Hmph, get off me. Go sleep in the other room," Lan Yinhuang said, kicking Lin Yongming off the bed.
"Wait, no! You're the softest to lie on," Lin Yongming said, quickly rolling back.
"You're so heavy! You're going to crush me. I can't breathe!" Lan Yinhuang said, pinching Lin Yongming's waist.
"If you pinch me, I'll pinch you back," Lin Yongming retorted.
The next morning, around 8 AM, Lin Yongming and Lan Yinhuang were awakened by a knock on the door.
"Who is it? Coming!"
Lin Yongming put on his clothes and left the bedroom. He knew it could only be Bibi Dong.
"Why are you so late? Haven't you washed up yet? Weren't we supposed to go to the Spirit Academy to meet the team members?" Bibi Dong asked as she entered the room.
"Saintess, we've been traveling for the past few days and were tired, so we slept in a bit," Lin Yongming explained.
"Where's Lan Yinhuang? Is she still in bed?" Bibi Dong asked.
"She's up. She's probably getting dressed," Lin Yongming said just as Lan Yinhuang opened the door.
"Why so early? Couldn't we sleep a bit longer?" Lan Yinhuang said, yawning.
"No, life requires discipline. Early to bed, early to rise. I told you two to stay in separate rooms, but you didn't listen. Hmph," Bibi Dong lectured.
"Alright, alright, Saintess. You're absolutely right," Lan Yinhuang said, rolling her eyes.
"Hurry up, don't dawdle. We'll miss breakfast if you take too long," Bibi Dong said, standing in the middle of the living room with her arms crossed.
About ten minutes later, the three of them left the hotel.
"Porridge here!"
"Flatbread! Get your flatbread here!"
As they walked toward the Spirit Academy, they passed many street vendors calling out their wares.
"This place has great soy milk and fried dough sticks. Let's eat here, then head straight to the Spirit Academy," Bibi Dong said, pointing to a roadside stall.
"Alright, Saintess. We'll follow your lead," Lan Yinhuang said with a grin.
They finished breakfast in about ten minutes and finally arrived at the gates of the Spirit Academy.
The iron gates were over three meters tall, with vibrant flowers planted on either side. Behind the gates was a guardhouse, and many people were coming and going.
"There are quite a lot of people," Lin Yongming remarked, hearing the chaotic sounds.
"It's not too bad. There are nearly three thousand students in the Spirit Academy."
"Come on, I'll take you inside," Bibi Dong said, showing a token to the guard, who immediately let them through without questioning Lin Yongming and Lan Yinhuang.
After all, with the Spirit Hall's Saintess leading the way, the guards had no reason to stop them.
As they passed through the gates, a fresh, natural breeze greeted them. The path was lined with lush green grass, and flower pots were placed at regular intervals.
The greenery was well-maintained, and the occasional chirping of birds could be heard from the trees.
