At dusk.
"Caw caw~ caw~ caw"
The cry of seagulls echoed all around.
What a pity, today's talent pull was still a flop.
He felt like he had the worst luck, like a cursed player, never able to pull any good talents. Ugh, where's the luck?
Looking at Zhen Linqi, who was reading a book on the couch, he asked while cleaning, "Honey, you okay?"
Zhen Linqi rolled her eyes and continued reading.
After cooking, Jia Fuhai brought the dishes to the living room.
Zhen Linqi had been resting in the living room watching TV the whole time.
Once the food was set up, Jia Fuhai used a spoon to feed Zhen Linqi. "Qiqi, let me feed you."
Zhen Linqi rolled her eyes but opened her mouth to eat the food fed to her.
"Nana, what do we do?" Jia Fuhai glanced at Zhen Linna, who was sleeping soundly, and asked.
"Just leave her alone. Let her rest. We'll deal with her when she wakes up," Zhen Linqi said as she took a sip of the soup being fed to her.
Zhen Linqi swallowed some food and suddenly thought about the past. She then looked Jia Fuhai up and down.
"Are you sick or something?" Zhen Linqi frowned. She had read news before about how some things could be overdone.
...
Jia Fuhai's body had been enhanced by the system, but he couldn't say that. "I don't think so. We're still young, aren't we? Isn't this normal for young people?"
"... Still, it's better to go to the hospital and get checked just to be safe."
Thinking about the future of her family, Zhen Linqi figured going to the hospital was the safer choice.
Jia Fuhai felt a bit nervous after hearing that, unsure if something might actually show up in the checkup.
For a moment, thoughts of dissections, shady doctors, organ trafficking, and human experiments ran wild in his head.
"What are you thinking about?" Zhen Linqi noticed Jia Fuhai's pause and asked.
"Nothing!" Jia Fuhai responded quickly when he heard his wife's voice, shoving some food into his own mouth.
Zhen Linqi continued, "Let's go to the hospital together later, and we can both check our health."
"Is Nana going too?" Jia Fuhai continued feeding her bit by bit.
Glancing at her sound-asleep sister, Zhen Linqi said while chewing, "She's going too. It's good to get her checked out, just in case."
"... But Nana's like this, how can she go?" Jia Fuhai was starting to sweat.
"We'll wait for her. The hospital's not going anywhere," Zhen Linqi said and then lay back down on the couch.
After finishing the meal, Jia Fuhai covered the leftover food, waiting for Nana to wake up and eat.
Then he snuggled up next to Zhen Linqi, and they started scrolling through short videos together.
As he swiped through his phone, Jia Fuhai asked, "Qiqi, do you think I should learn something new?"
"Learn what? It's not like we don't have money. Besides, are you even capable of learning anything?" After being together for so long, Zhen Linqi knew him all too well.
"... I just feel inspired seeing you study even though you took a break from school. But yeah, I guess I'm being a bit dramatic." Jia Fuhai felt ashamed and couldn't continue.
"As long as you know that. Everyone has their own way of living. If you have the means, live the way you like. And I just happen to like reading books. Go ahead, be a lazybones!"
As she finished speaking, Zhen Linqi playfully bumped Jia Fuhai's head.
Jia Fuhai hugged Zhen Linqi tightly, pretending to beg for support. "You're so cool! I'll just rely on you, wife!"
By now, not only had Zhen Linqi figured out Jia Fuhai's personality, but Jia Fuhai also understood Zhen Linqi well.
She was "traditional" in the sense that once married, she believed the husband should take the lead. She was the first to oppose when her father, Zhen Fugui, suggested Jia Fuhai become part of her family.
Later, she felt she couldn't satisfy Jia Fuhai as a wife, so she took the initiative to bring her younger sister into the relationship.
She had a slight mischievous side and loved watching drama unfold.
It was actually because of her love for drama that she and Jia Fuhai met in the first place.
She had a good ability to learn and liked to read books when there wasn't any drama to watch.
Around 9 p.m., Zhen Linna slowly opened her eyes. She saw Jia Fuhai lying on the couch playing with his phone, but her sister was nowhere to be seen.
She lifted the blanket and put on the set of clothes that had been prepared for her, then walked over.
"Nana, you're awake! Hold on, I'll heat up the food for you." Seeing Zhen Linna, Jia Fuhai hurriedly got up, handed her some honey water, and then began reheating the dishes.
The sweet taste of the honey brought Zhen Linna back to life instantly.
As soon as the heated food was served, she began devouring it with no regard for manners.
Like a whirlwind sweeping away fallen leaves, the food was gone in no time, with even the plates licked clean.
She felt fully revived. Food really was magical.
After cleaning up, the two sisters joined Jia Fuhai in the living room.
"Let's go! To the hospital!" The two sisters held hands, already wearing their shoes.
Following the GPS directions, the car drove up to a large estate.
The estate was vast, surrounded by trees, with a lake nearby. The air was fresh, and the environment was pleasant.
As they made their way inside, Jia Fuhai immediately knew this wasn't an ordinary hospital—it had to be a private one.
After parking the car, the three of them got out.
They entered a building that looked different from a typical hospital. It was quiet, with very few people around.
The three approached the registration desk, where Zhen Linqi handed over a card to the staff. After some registration, the staff made a phone call to summon someone to escort them.
It was only during the registration process that Jia Fuhai realized this hospital operated on a membership system, and both Qiqi and Nana were members. Members could bring others for registration.
Since Zhen Linqi was pregnant, she went first, and Jia Fuhai would go last.
The examinations were conducted by both traditional Chinese and Western doctors.
Zhen Linqi's baby was growing very healthily, and her own health was excellent too, with no hidden illnesses, as she was still in her growing years.
Next was Zhen Linna.
The old Chinese doctor felt her pulse, glanced at the young girl, and said earnestly, "Young people are in good health, but they need to practice moderation."
Upon hearing this, Zhen Linna glared at Jia Fuhai.
Zhen Linqi felt like this scene was all too familiar. Wasn't this exactly what happened to her before? She touched her forehead, feeling a bit amused yet helpless.
