Chapter 45

Jia Fuhai's phone was vibrating wildly, but he was busy playing a motion-sensing game in front of the TV.

Thanks to his "Master of Skills" talent, his movements were exaggerated and dynamic.

Meanwhile, Zhen Linqi was still engrossed in her book, but suddenly, her phone began vibrating furiously.

She picked it up and saw that several people were @-ing her and Jia Fuhai in the neighborhood group chat.

"???"

Unsure of what was going on, Zhen Linqi scrolled up to check the chat history.

"Did anyone pick up a cake today?"

"Me, me, me! It was so delicious, how was it made?"

"I only had one, but the flavor was incredible. It brought out the taste of the ingredients to the fullest. Whoever made this cake is a culinary genius!"

"Message retracted."

"Message retracted."

"My dad and son are both asking for more, and I didn't even get a bite. Who gave this out?"

"Same here! My son ate it all, and I barely got a taste. I think it was Xiao Jia who gave the cake."

"That's right, it was him."

Then, a few people started @-ing Xiao Jia.

These were the ones who had tasted the cake.

Seeing the neighborhood group so lively, others who usually stayed quiet began joining in.

"Is it really that good?"

"Are you guys advertising or something?"

"@-ing them but no response?"

...

"Maybe they're busy?"

"Busy at this time? Come on!"

"Who knows…"

"Wait, isn't Xiao Jia married? Which one is his wife in the group?"

"I've figured it out!"

And then the group started @-ing Zhen Linqi.

...

Zhen Linqi finished reading through the messages and glanced at Jia Fuhai, who was still playing his game in the distance. She walked over.

"Hey, Hai Ge."

"What's up, Qiqi?" Jia Fuhai looked at her, a bit confused.

"Check your phone." Zhen Linqi showed him the neighborhood group chat.

Jia Fuhai hurried to grab his phone.

Seeing all the @s, his head began to hurt.

Looking at the pile of cakes next to him, he quickly replied:

"There are some cakes left for tomorrow. Anyone who wants one can come to the neighborhood park to pick them up. After that, you'll have to wait until the cakes are officially launched."

The neighborhood residents started replying.

"How many are left? Can I buy some?"

"Yeah, is this the last batch for now?"

"Xiao Jia, how do you make these cakes?"

"Can I come over now? I'll buy them right away."

Those who hadn't tasted the cake yet were a bit skeptical. But since the cakes would be available for free in the park tomorrow, they decided to join in and see what the fuss was all about.

...

Seeing all the responses, Jia Fuhai could only reiterate that tomorrow was a free tasting event and any future cakes would be available once they hit the market.

The residents in the group finally settled down.

"Hai Ge, it looks like you've got this locked down. Even the cakes Nana made are so popular," Zhen Linqi said with a smile.

"Qiqi, you'll have to help out too," Jia Fuhai reminded her.

"I know, I know. But I'm pregnant right now," Zhen Linqi said playfully, blinking her eyes.

"… You'll just handle the finances, Qiqi. Everything else we can hire people for," Jia Fuhai said, not wanting her to overexert herself.

"Hai Ge, what about me?" Zhen Linna chimed in from the side. She was the only one in the family with nothing to do right now.

"Isn't it enough that you're here with me?" Jia Fuhai chuckled. Linna would just help out with small chores or play around; she didn't need to do much more.

Zhen Linna pouted and playfully hit him. "You're so annoying."

On the side, Zhen Linqi shook her head and continued reading her book.

The next day.

When Jia Fuhai drove Lin Feifei to work, he brought several cakes along for her to give to her mentor and colleagues.

When he returned home, he and his family, after having breakfast, started moving the cakes downstairs.

The cakes had to be dealt with today, or else Jia Fuhai feared they might spoil later.

Normally, they would last over two days, but since the recipe hadn't been fully tested yet, he didn't want to take any risks.

Today, he'd first offer samples at the park to the neighborhood residents.

Then, he'd go to the supermarkets to offer samples to customers.

Originally, he planned to deliver some to the schools, but since his product wasn't officially certified yet, the rules stated that only tested items could be delivered. So, he had no choice but to head to the supermarkets.

While he could offer samples outside the schools, it would require some guarantees, so he decided against it for now.

Jia Fuhai, along with his father-in-law and Linna, started moving the cakes. Qiqi and his mother-in-law each took care of a child.

As Jia Fuhai set up tables in the park, the property management staff came over to help out.

Why was the property management so accommodating?

The residents here could easily replace them at any time. Many companies were eager to manage this complex because the fees alone would make most people's jaws drop.

The property management had noticed the buzz in the neighborhood group yesterday. Since the other residents had no objections, they had no reason to intervene and were only there to maintain order.

If things didn't go well, it wouldn't be a problem for Xiao Jia, since he was also a resident. The property management would be the ones in trouble.

After setting up, Jia Fuhai gave cakes to the security guards as well, since they had been helping out.

And because the property management always consulted with the residents on matters, Jia Fuhai had no complaints about them either.

"Thank you, thank you." They eagerly accepted the cakes. Yesterday, they had been curious about the cake that the residents had raved about. What exactly did it taste like?

After taking a bite, they too were transported to some sort of memory, a sea of honey?

The descriptions the residents had given the day before weren't exaggerated. Was there something illicit in these cakes?

No, it couldn't be. The rules here wouldn't allow that.

While the property staff were lost in their thoughts, Jia Fuhai started distributing the cakes.

Some residents were already waiting.

"Come on, come on, ten portions each," Jia Fuhai called out, letting the residents take their cakes.

The residents didn't rush or create chaos; those closest to the front took theirs first.

"Xiao Jia, when will these cakes be available for purchase?" one of the older ladies asked, complimenting him while eating.

"Just look for 'Jia's Bakery.' The brand is already registered, and the cakes will be on the market soon," Jia Fuhai explained as he handed out cakes.

Nearby, some residents who were further away looked on as others ate their cakes with enthusiasm. Some of them muttered with regret, "It's just cake, is it really that good?"

"It's amazing! Can I have more? I want more!" A young man hugged Jia Fuhai's leg, having already devoured his ten cakes. He still hadn't had enough.

"It's limited! I still need to save some for marketing," Jia Fuhai said, feeling helpless.

"Young man, let go of him. I haven't had mine yet," a nearby lady quickly intervened.

"I'll buy them! I've got money!" The young man immediately pulled out some cash and tried to hand it to Jia Fuhai.

"Do you think you're the only one with money? We can all afford it," said another resident, clearly offended. After all, everyone in the neighborhood could afford it.

"??? Is this guy a paid actor?" Some of those who hadn't tried the cake yet were baffled, considering leaving after seeing this scene.

"No way. I think that young man is the son of some big-shot CEO. Who could afford to hire him as a paid actor?" remarked another resident who recognized the young man.

Hearing this, the person who had almost left reconsidered. "I guess I'll stick around and see for myself. After all, it's free. The worst I'll waste is a bit of time."
