After finishing lunch.
"Fugui, take the two grandsons home to play," Chen Lina said after finishing her meal. She felt it was best to give her daughters some space and not be in the way.
"Alright," Zhen Fugui answered with a bit of bitterness. He glanced at his eldest daughter again, not able to say much. This made him feel even more sour—he even had to help cover for them by taking the kids.
Is there any justice left in the world? What about fatherhood?
"Ah, why are they leaving?" Zhen Linna asked in confusion. They were eating just fine, and suddenly, they're going upstairs. What's going on?
"It's nothing, Nana. I'm just going to have a little chat with Qiqi. You go and play," Jia Fuhai said casually. Of course, he had no ulterior motives—his stomach was still full—he just wanted to share some heartfelt words.
Zhen Linna, understanding, glanced at the two of them and got the message. "Alright, I'll go play with my sons."
She then quickly ran off.
"Don't carry me; I can walk by myself."
In his mother's arms, Jia Najie struggled, but unfortunately, baby-level martial skills were no match for his adult mother, who was like a fierce tigress in her strength.
On the side, Jia Qiyi, who was holding his grandfather's hand and squatting, couldn't help but chuckle.
Ever since he could remember, people had always pinched his cheeks. For someone with a super memory, this was quite uncomfortable.
His five senses and all memories could be easily recalled in perfect detail. He could still vividly remember the time when his father carried him on his shoulders during a crescent moon.
Luckily, he could block out these memories at will. Otherwise, it would have been unbearable to constantly feel discomfort.
Although he could block them out, it was better not to experience them in the first place.
After his younger brother was born, the attention shifted heavily to him, especially from the women.
His little brother was great!
Even though he still got pinched from time to time, with fewer women around, the frequency was cut in half. His little brother truly was a blessing—sacrificing his cheeks for his older brother from a young age.
"Come on, let me carry you upstairs," Zhen Fugui said as he picked up Jia Qiyi.
Jia Qiyi thought for a moment and gave up—he couldn't climb the stairs yet anyway. Besides, grandpa wasn't as rough as mom.
Watching his little brother, who was often pinched until he cried out in pain, Qiyi grinned.
"Qiyi, why are you smiling so happily?" Zhen Fugui asked as he pinched his grandson's soft cheeks, noticing the wide grin on his face.
"..."
Jia Qiyi realized he had been too smug! Was this the law of 'pride comes before a fall' that the books mentioned?
He rubbed his now-aggrieved cheeks with his little hand. Some laws, it seems, cannot be avoided.
"Fugui, if you're going to carry him, do it properly. Look, you've made Qiyi stop smiling," Chen Lina scolded her husband from the side.
"..." (The blame just shifts around.)
Feeling a little guilty, Zhen Fugui looked at his grandson's sad face. The little boy's adorable face looked incredibly wronged. At that moment, Zhen Fugui felt deeply remorseful.
But then again, he thought, How cute! It's his own grandson after all—he couldn't help but pinch him.
"Nana, if you can't handle the kids, don't take them. Why don't you learn from your sister?" Chen Lina reprimanded her daughter after finishing with her husband. Why was everyone so careless?
"I know, I know. He's my son. Why wouldn't I know how to take care of him?" Zhen Linna said seriously, quickly softening her movements.
"Grandma is right," Jia Najie whispered, his voice so soft it was barely audible unless it was right next to someone's ear.
He didn't want his tiger mom to hear, knowing full well that his mom was definitely as fierce as a tiger.
Yet another day of envying his brother.
Once they got upstairs, they were back at Zhen Fugui's house.
With the Tiger Mom present, the Tiger Cub dared not act out, so he had no choice but to...
"Brother, let's play chess!" Jia Najie immediately said when he saw his older brother preparing to read a book.
"Alright!" Seeing his brother being controlled by their mom, Jia Qiyi understood. His brother often took the brunt of the pinching for him, so he had to help when he could.
"Mom!" Jia Najie struggled with all four limbs, trying to wriggle free from Zhen Linna's grasp.
"Hey, son, I'll hold you while we play chess," Zhen Linna said, wanting to bond with her son and watch how he played.
"Nana!" Chen Lina, who was nearby, quickly stopped her. This daughter just didn't know how to care for kids properly!
"You're so disobedient," Zhen Linna said with a pout as she put her son down. Why was her son so ungrateful when she rarely had a chance to bond with him?
"Disobedient? It's you!" Chen Lina scolded, grabbing her daughter by the ear after watching her grandson leave. How could she say something like that?
Zhen Fugui stood nearby, rubbing his temples. Although he was a complete pushover when it came to his daughters, he had to admit that when compared to his grandsons, the boys came first.
Besides, even when raising two daughters, he never treated Nana with such clumsiness.
"Hey, Nana, you've got a son now. Be more careful. If you really don't know how to take care of kids, just watch how others do it," Chen Lina said, trying to guide her daughter gently.
"Nana's just being herself," Zhen Fugui interjected. He still had to protect his daughter a bit—after all, he always played the good cop at home.
"I just want her to pay more attention when taking care of the kids. You were just as careless earlier," Chen Lina said, her voice growing louder until both father and daughter were scolded together.
Both of them hung their heads, not daring to speak again.
"You two need to be more aware. Qiyi and Najie are both mentally mature beyond their years, so you must be more mindful with them."
Chen Lina's voice softened as she looked at them. She really only wanted what was best for her children and grandchildren. If that wasn't the case, she would have never said anything, always deferring to Zhen Fugui's lead.
Sighing as she looked at her daughter, she said gently:
"Nana, sometimes you need to be more aware of your son's mental state. They may be young, but they're so smart. Don't let them grow up thinking you're unreliable."
"Got it," Zhen Linna replied with a pained expression. She realized she might indeed be a bit negligent, always relying on her sister for help.
"You know, I usually don't say much, but when it comes to the kids, pay attention to how they're doing," Chen Lina continued, trying to give motherly advice. Poor parenting can leave lasting scars on children, especially on such gifted little boys.
Hearing this, Zhen Linna felt overwhelmed. She wasn't a psychologist! How could she possibly know her kids' thoughts?
She stood there frozen, ready to continue receiving her mother's lecture.
Zhen Fugui watched his daughter hang her head and sighed.
Nana was only 20, still in the prime of her youth, wanting to enjoy life. Without much experience, she had become a mother—how much could she really know?
It was all Jia Fuhai's fault!
Thinking of this, Zhen Fugui felt an overwhelming urge to go downstairs and punch him hard.
Then he thought of his eldest daughter...
"Dad, what's wrong?" Zhen Linna, looking up mid-lecture, noticed her father's suddenly twisted expression and quickly asked.
"Ah, nothing," Zhen Fugui replied, trying to calm the anger he felt toward Jia Fuhai.
He focused on thoughts of his intelligent and adorable grandsons, trying to diffuse the desire for violence.
Chen Lina noticed the sudden change but didn't catch on. Instead, she dropped a bombshell on her daughter:
"I've already bought some parenting books and videos. You need to go study them—you have no motherly skills at all."
Upon hearing this, Zhen Linna felt like the sky was falling. What kind of torture was this? Now she had to study?
Couldn't she just learn from her sister?
Zhen Fugui suddenly thought of something strange—his two daughters didn't really take after their mother but rather seemed to follow an opposite path. How odd!
