Chapter 55

After several days of discussions and hiring, Jia's Food Factory had been preliminary set up. However, the supply issue still needed to be confirmed.

"Brother Hai, these cakes aren't cheap, so they can only be sold in large supermarkets, high-end hotels, or upscale private kitchens," Zhen Linqi voiced her opinion.

"Fat Xi's place should work. I've bought from there before, and it's very popular," Zhen Linna suggested.

The group continued discussing where to sell the products.

"I'll go talk to my mom," Lin Feifei suddenly said from the side.

Jia Fuhai had nearly forgotten that Feifei's mother was the manager of a supermarket. However, Feifei and her mom had had a huge fight earlier, and they hadn't spoken since.

Part of the issue was him—if it were just Feifei alone, her mom wouldn't have had such a strong reaction. Qiqi's parents were won over thanks to her, but when it came to dealing with Feifei's mother, he wasn't sure what to do.

After hesitating for a moment, Jia Fuhai said, "Your mom was furious back then. I'm not sure it's appropriate for me to approach her."

He didn't want Feifei to get scolded on his behalf.

"No, it's fine. Brother Hai, your cakes are amazing, right?" Lin Feifei wore a confident expression, one that would've looked more convincing if she had glasses to push up.

"They're definitely great. The taste speaks for itself," Zhen Linqi agreed wholeheartedly.

"Just hearing about them makes me want to eat again," Zhen Linna swallowed a bit of saliva.

Jia Fuhai nodded in agreement. He knew from experience how powerful his talent was.

"You may not know my mom that well, but she's a total businesswoman. If she finds something that can boost her supermarket's traffic, she'll be thrilled. This might even improve our relationship," Lin Feifei said, her tone turning a bit melancholic towards the end.

Initially, Feifei had resented her mother, but not because of Jia Fuhai. Growing up, she had mostly been a boarder at school, and even when she returned home for holidays, her mother was often too busy with work to be around.

This was why Feifei and Zhen Linna had hit it off so well—they both shared similar childhood experiences.

...

However, her mother had never deprived her of anything. It's just that Feifei spent many birthdays alone, crying and eating the cake she bought for herself. At those moments, she envied others who had their families with them.

But over the past year, she had seen two very different examples of motherhood and had come to a realization.

One was Zhen Linqi, who was the ideal mother—taking care of everything for the children, leaving them with nothing to worry about.

The other was Zhen Linna. well, she wasn't much better than Feifei's own mother when it came to caring for kids. Linqi did most of the childrearing for her.

Yet, you couldn't say Zhen Linna was a bad person—she just had that kind of personality.

This allowed Feifei to understand that each mother had a different character and background. She just happened to have a workaholic mother who focused on her career.

But at least her mother had raised her and provided for her.

"Alright, let's do it," Jia Fuhai agreed quickly when he heard that this might smooth things over with his future mother-in-law. "No point in letting someone else make the sale."

"Alright, you guys go ahead. Linna will stay home with me," Zhen Linqi said understandingly.

"Fine. I'll take another look at the packaging and see if we can make it more appealing," Zhen Linna chimed in, also fully aware of Feifei's situation. She decided not to tag along with Brother Hai this time.

"Okay. Linna, stay home and help Qiqi take care of the kids," Jia Fuhai instructed before heading out.

Huh? Zhen Linna was a little confused. Was that directed at her?

"Don't worry, I've got things under control," Zhen Linqi responded gently.

Jia Fuhai grabbed a few boxes of the various cake flavors he had developed over the past few days. When it came to experimenting with flavors, he had a knack for it. For example, swapping jasmine honey for rose honey could create a whole new flavor.

This fit perfectly with his lazy personality—easily creating a new variety with just a small tweak. And honey wasn't limited to just one type!

Of course, each type of honey required a different baking time, so he had to reset the oven's program for each variation.

One type of cake could be made in several flavors, and all he did was change the honey. Zhen Linna had been absolutely amazed by this. "This guy really knows how to play the game! So clever!"

Zhen Linqi, however, understood it well—Brother Hai's lazy nature made him come up with this ingenious solution.

Jia Fuhai always opted for the path of least resistance between hard work and taking it easy.

But in the end, the flavor changed, didn't it?

At that moment, everyone was at a loss for words. The flavor had undeniably changed, and they couldn't lie about that. In fact, some flavors had even improved.

They all enjoyed the cakes immensely and didn't care how he came up with them.

Jia Fuhai's rare flashes of brilliance always came when he was trying to avoid hard work!

Of course, this was largely thanks to the system's talent support, allowing him to make the most of the floral notes in the honey.

The beekeepers had a tough time, though, as the honey often mixed with different flavors from various flowers. Luckily, with Qiqi's (soft-power) assistance, the beekeepers were eager to help. They even said, "Boss, if you need anything else, just ask. We're even willing to become plant fertilizer if it'll help."

Jia Fuhai didn't mind mixed honey, but it required his personal touch to fix the taste. And he didn't want to put in that much effort—he preferred to spend money to solve the problem. After all, once the cakes started selling big, the costs wouldn't matter.

With a few boxes of cakes in hand, Jia Fuhai and Lin Feifei left for the supermarket.

Following the navigation, they arrived smoothly.

In front of the supermarket, Jia Fuhai looked up at the sign.

Three large letters spelled out "AAA"—it was the Triple A Supermarket.

"Are we just walking in like this?" Standing in front of his future mother-in-law, Jia Fuhai wondered if he should prepare something.

"Don't worry. If it benefits my mom's business, she'll ignore everything else," Lin Feifei reassured him, shaking her head. She knew her mother well.

"Alright. This supermarket is huge. It's impressive that your mom's the store manager," Jia Fuhai remarked, admiring the size of the place.

"This is only my second time here. I'll give her a call," Lin Feifei said, though she seemed slightly nervous as she pulled out her phone.

Jia Fuhai immediately pulled her into a comforting hug.

...

Inside the Triple A supermarket.

Lin Shengnan was currently discussing strategies for increasing traffic and revenue with her subordinates.

Using a pointer, she gestured at the projection screen in front of her.

"This year, we must increase our store's income. Last year…"

Beep beep! Beep beep!

"Who didn't turn off their phone during the meeting? What's going on?" Lin Shengnan snapped, turning to glare at her subordinates.

Everyone fell silent in fear. They had all turned off their phones. None of them dared to cross the tigress of a store manager.

"Store Manager, it's your phone," a timid voice finally spoke up.

"..." Lin Shengnan realized the sound was indeed coming from her own phone.

When she had been setting up the projector, she had left her phone on her seat.

Embarrassed, she quickly walked over to grab her phone, intending to turn it off.

But just as she was about to switch it off, she saw the number on the screen.

Letting out a deep breath, she turned to her subordinates and said, "I have something urgent to take care of. Everyone, go back and focus on your tasks."

After saying that, she hurried out of the room to answer the call.

Ever since her argument with her daughter, she had been burying herself in work to numb the pain, just like before. She wasn't sure if something had happened to her daughter.

Once she left, the tense atmosphere in the conference room began to ease.

"I'll go check the inventory."

"Yeah, I need to review the invoices."

...

Lin Shengnan's intimidating presence lingered even after she left, and nobody dared to slack off.
