Chapter 60

The next day.

After lunch, it was time to head to the factory. The two kids still had to continue learning the language, so only Nana followed Jia Fuhai to the factory.

Zhen Fugui reminded Jia Fuhai before he left, "Xiaohai, you need to be careful with so many people!"

"Don't worry, everyone is from the same community; it should be fine." Jia Fuhai wasn't too concerned.

After telling the kids to listen to their mother, they headed out with Nana.

At the entrance of the neighborhood, people were already starting to gather.

As soon as Jia Fuhai arrived, the others eagerly greeted him.

"Xiao Jia, I've been missing your cake like crazy."

"Just the thought of it makes me excited. I skipped breakfast and lunch just for this."

...

Jia Fuhai quickly reassured everyone, "Don't rush; we'll wait until everyone arrives."

"Not everyone? We had only about twenty people register yesterday, but now there are over forty."

"You're one to talk! Didn't you bring two kids along too?"

Jia Fuhai: "..."

No wonder there were so many people—everyone had brought their family!

"Brother Jia," said Chen Xiaofeng, who approached with dark circles under his eyes.

"What's with your look?" Jia Fuhai was startled by the sight of the young man, who looked utterly exhausted.

"For Brother Jia's cake, I couldn't sleep last night!" Chen Xiaofeng said while swallowing, still reminiscing about the cake.

"It's not that serious," Jia Fuhai said, feeling speechless. This cake was becoming a forbidden indulgence, even ruining a young man like this.

These young people really had no self-control.

He then asked, "By the way, Xiaofeng, you helped with the registration yesterday. Is everyone here now?"

"Sigh, don't even mention it. We had a few people initially, but now that more have brought their kids, I've arranged for another bus," Chen Xiaofeng said, feeling exhausted. However, he didn't argue since the kids were involved.

"Thanks for the hard work," Jia Fuhai said, patting his shoulder in comfort.

Watching the exhausted Xiaofeng running back and forth, Jia Fuhai realized that it's a bad idea to take on too many responsibilities alone—because you'll end up worn out.

"By the way, if you all haven't eaten yet, it'll take some time for the cake to be ready once we get to the factory," Jia Fuhai reminded those who had skipped meals.

"It's fine. We can hold out for this."

"Yeah, skipping one meal is no big deal. We'll make up for it all at once."

"Same here," Chen Xiaofeng imitated the group chat's words from yesterday.

Besides not sleeping, he hadn't eaten either, which explained his haggard appearance.

Seeing how popular his cake was, Zhen Lina felt even happier than him since she had helped too.

"Alright, let's not wait any longer. If everyone's here, the sooner we get going, the sooner we can start. I don't want you all fainting from hunger—that would be my fault."

"I'll check." Chen Xiaofeng quickly pulled out his phone and started asking around.

Though everyone lived in the same neighborhood, they didn't all know each other well, so he had to check one by one.

After confirming three times, Chen Xiaofeng rushed back and said, "Brother Jia, everyone's here. Let's go. I'm starving."

"Alright, let's get going." Jia Fuhai nodded.

The others were already getting their kids onto the bus.

All the kids were of preschool age since school was still in session.

Even Zhao Mama came, though she was alone—her husband was busy, and her son was at school, leaving her "reluctantly" (but inwardly thrilled) free to come and taste Jia Fuhai's cake.

That day, she had taken two cakes home, and her son had stared at her with such a resentful look for days that she almost thought the house was cursed.

The trip to Tianfeng Factory went smoothly.

Jia Fuhai drove in the lead, in the car his father-in-law had given him for his wedding.

"Xiao Jia, you're here!" Grandpa Huang's eyes lit up when he saw Jia Fuhai, and he immediately got in the car without hesitation, then shouted out the window, "Xiao Zhao, check things out. I'm going to help maintain order."

"Got it, Grandpa!" Xiao Zhao responded with a smile, though he inwardly cursed. Grandpa's sharp instincts left him no room to escape.

If it weren't for respecting the elderly, Xiao Zhao would've shown Grandpa what young fists could do.

"Xiao Jia, I'll help maintain order for you," Grandpa Huang said, smiling as he sat comfortably in the car.

"Sure, thank you, Grandpa," Jia Fuhai replied.

"That cake of yours is so delicious. When are you going to start production?" Grandpa Huang asked, swallowing his saliva.

In the front passenger seat, Zhen Lina covered her forehead with her hand, thinking, "Here we go again."

Ever since Grandpa Huang tasted the cake, he'd been urging them to start production so he could be a regular customer.

"Uh, it should be soon," Jia Fuhai said uncertainly.

"Hurry it up. Don't employees need wages? Doesn't the factory cost money? And don't you have a son to raise? Time is money—you should start production right away."

For the sake of a bite of cake, Grandpa Huang started pressuring them, displaying the concern of an elder.

"It's fine; I spent my wife's money, and the factory was a gift from my father-in-law," Jia Fuhai said nonchalantly, proudly recounting his blessings.

But to Grandpa Huang, it sounded like shameless freeloading.

His wife paid for everything? And there were two of them, fighting to spend on him?

He felt like he was in the wrong place—he should've sat under the car instead.

After getting out of the car, Grandpa Huang was visibly dazed, standing to the side, almost looking like a vagrant. If not for his uniform, you'd think he was homeless.

"Let's go inside," Jia Fuhai said, leading the group into the factory.

"Hey, isn't that Xiangjin Coffee next door? Your factory is right next to them." Someone who recognized Xiangjin Coffee spoke up. They'd also had Uncle Zhou's coffee before.

"Yes, Jiaji Food Factory is just a wall away from Xiangjin Coffee," Jia Fuhai replied with a smile.

"Haha, I've watched their production livestream before. Now I can see yours too."

"Me too."

Those who had tasted Xiangjin Coffee had likely watched its production livestream.

Jia Fuhai smiled and said, "Don't worry, soon you'll be able to see Jiaji Food Factory's production process too!"

??

"Are you also going to follow Xiangjin Coffee's lead?" they asked in surprise.

"It's already started. You can check it out now." Jia Fuhai had already launched the livestream system; otherwise, how would Lin Mama have seen it?

"Not bad, Brother Jia, you've got guts to do that," Chen Xiaofeng said, full of admiration.

"Well, you'll see once you get inside," Jia Fuhai said, hurrying everyone into the factory.

"Boss," the employees greeted Jia Fuhai warmly.

Judging by the employees' attitudes, it was clear Jia Fuhai offered competitive salaries.

He first led the group around the outside of the factory.

The clean and orderly appearance, combined with the sterile production rooms, garnered a lot of praise from everyone.

Next, they headed to the lounge. Since there were so many people, some stayed outside, while the lounge was primarily for those with children to rest in.

"You can watch from here," Jia Fuhai said, setting up a projector connected to the factory's live feed so they could see the interior.

Then he made sure everyone was comfortable.

Turning to the employees, he said, "Alright, let's go inside and make some cakes."

"Yes, boss," the employees responded eagerly.

In addition to high wages, there were also bonuses linked to the cake ratings.

The higher the rating, the more money Jia Fuhai would distribute to the employees.

Before going in, Jia Fuhai asked the others, "There are five spots left. Who wants to join us inside?"

"Me, I'll go."

"I want to go too."

...

Seeing so many eager volunteers, Jia Fuhai had to say, "Those without children can go; if you have kids, stay and watch them."

"Besides, you can watch from here, and if you have questions, ask Mr. Gao—he's the factory manager I hired."

He pointed at the projector and a middle-aged man.

"Alright."

Everyone agreed to this suggestion, and five people were chosen to go inside.

Chen Xiaofeng, who had been running around, was excluded. Jia Fuhai was afraid that with his exhaustion, he might collapse inside. He was just too weak.

Chen Xiaofeng was disappointed but had no choice.

He could only watch enviously as the chosen five donned sterile suits.

"Manager Gao?" Chen Xiaofeng, desperate for more information, asked.

"Yes, how can I help?" Gao Qichao responded politely.

When he first received the offer to manage the factory, he was hesitant—until he tasted the cake.

After that, he enthusiastically took the job, eager to help build something from scratch.

"Manager Gao, what's

The difference between your production process and Xiangjin's?" Chen Xiaofeng asked, trying to find a silver lining.

"Xiangjin mainly handles coffee, while we focus on baked goods—especially cakes," Gao Qichao replied, smiling. "So our processes are more specialized for that."

Just then, someone exclaimed, "Look, they're starting!"
