Chapter 70

Chen Xiaofeng was chatting with his livestream staff, telling them that he would reveal the No. 1 cake tomorrow. Just then, his phone rang.

It was his father.

Ugh, is he going to lecture me again? Chen Xiaofeng thought about hanging up but decided to pick up the call, remembering his respect for his father, especially after what happened with Xiao Qianqian.

"Hello, Dad? What's up?"

"You little brat, why didn't you send more cakes? Do you think your old man can't afford them?"

"Dad, do you know what those cakes are?" Chen Xiaofeng raised his voice.

"Aren't they cakes?" his dad asked, puzzled.

"They're five-star cakes! There aren't that many available. You should be grateful I even managed to get them for you. Consider it my filial duty," Chen Xiaofeng responded.

Father Chen, realizing the star rating of the cakes, smacked his lips. "Oh, I see... Is this from a friend of yours?"

"Yeah, so what?" Chen Xiaofeng replied casually.

"Well, let me give you some advice today. Otherwise, your friend's cake factory might go under. It'd be a shame if the quality declines," Father Chen said in a more serious tone.

Father Chen didn't need to worry about these things himself since the Tianchen Group was massive, but he recognized that Jia Ji's factory was probably a small operation and couldn't withstand the business tactics of larger, more ruthless groups.

Although they were only using commercial methods here, in different circumstances, Jia Ji's business might not survive at all.

Father Chen then proceeded to teach his son how to handle such situations if he ever ran a similar factory. On one hand, he didn't want to see such delicious cakes disappear, and on the other hand, it was a good teaching moment for his son.

As for a forced takeover? If the company was small enough, some might attempt it. But in this case, it wasn't necessary. The business world is cutthroat like that.

The more Chen Xiaofeng listened, the more irritated he became. Like many young people, he couldn't tolerate seeing something unjust.

It didn't matter to him if it was an awful factory, but how could someone target Jia Ji, a place that made clean, high-quality cakes?

"Damn it!" Chen Xiaofeng finally cursed out loud.

Father Chen felt satisfied, hearing this. It seemed like his son had learned a hard lesson from the story. He didn't mind using this situation to make his son listen.

"Do you know what to do now?" Father Chen asked, feeling proud of his lecture.

"Yes, Dad. My friend's cake factory won't go down without a fight. I still want to eat those cakes," Chen Xiaofeng said defiantly.

"Good. Now bring me some more of those cakes. I've earned it after teaching you all of this," Father Chen chuckled.

"I will, Dad. Don't worry, my friend will thank us for helping him. He's not just good at making cakes; he's an amazing cook too!" Chen Xiaofeng added, remembering the delicious home-cooked meal he had enjoyed.

"Alright, that's enough. You're making me hungry," Father Chen said, not wanting to hear more about the cakes.

Chen Xiaofeng laughed. "See, Dad? I always think of you when I come across good things. You know that, right?"

"Yeah, yeah," Father Chen sighed, rolling his eyes. He knew his son was treating him like an ATM, but since he had listened to his advice today, it wasn't a bad exchange.

...

The next day, after seeing Feifei off, Jia Fuhai went to the Jia Ji Cake Factory. It was his first day there, and he wanted to make sure everything was running smoothly.

When he arrived, he noticed that quite a few people had shown up. Luckily, everyone seemed professional, and there was nothing shady going on.

Director Qian from the Inspection Bureau was there too. While eating cake, he silently celebrated that everything had gone well before his business trip ended.

After spending a long day at the factory, Jia Fuhai handed over the remaining tasks to Director Gao, hoping things would calm down in the future.

He returned home and immediately started preparing lunch.

Meanwhile, his mother-in-law, Zhen Lina, looked at her daughter, who was still in bed even though it was almost noon. Then she glanced at her son-in-law in the kitchen but said nothing. She knew her daughter was being stubborn and decided to let her learn from her own mistakes.

Her focus remained on her grandson.

Suddenly, Jia Fuhai's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, he sighed. "What does Chen Xiaofeng want now?"

Although he found it annoying, he picked up the call.

"Brother Jia, it's urgent. Really urgent. It's about your cake factory," Chen Xiaofeng blurted out, sounding rushed.

"My factory? What's wrong? I'm in the middle of cooking," Jia Fuhai replied, confused. The factory had just opened, and if something serious had happened, Director Gao would have let him know.

"Brother Jia, can I come over and talk? I'll tell you everything over lunch," Chen Xiaofeng said, his tone changing when he heard the mention of food.

"Fine, come over," Jia Fuhai agreed, curious about what had Chen Xiaofeng so worked up.

Before long, Chen Xiaofeng arrived at Jia Fuhai's home, feeling slightly intimidated by the two little ones running around. Despite their age, they were incredibly sharp and calculating. He could tell these kids would grow up to be exceptional.

At lunchtime, Zhen Lina finally woke up, drawn by the smell of the food. Chen Xiaofeng ate heartily, grateful that Jia Fuhai had made plenty.

After everyone had eaten and settled in the living room, Jia Fuhai turned to Chen Xiaofeng, who was now lounging on the sofa.

"So, what's going on?" Jia Fuhai asked.

Chen Xiaofeng wasted no time. "It's because of your livestream. That's what started it."

"What do you mean? The livestream was meant to reassure everyone. What's the issue?" Jia Fuhai scratched his head, still not understanding.

Hearing this, even Qiqi and Nana wandered over, curious about the conversation.

"You know the Xiangjin Restaurant next door, right?" Chen Xiaofeng asked.

"Yeah, Uncle Zhou is a good guy. I've learned a lot from him," Jia Fuhai replied.

"Well, because of your livestream, he's only able to serve low-margin items like coffee now," Chen Xiaofeng revealed.

"So what? My factory is small. Why would anyone be targeting us?" Jia Fuhai frowned.

Chen Xiaofeng explained, "If you weren't famous, no one would care. But your cakes are bound to become popular, and that's going to affect certain groups."

"The transparency of your livestreaming process threatens some people's interests. That's why they're watching you."

"These groups don't care about anyone's well-being. They only care about profits. And they see your honesty and quality as a threat," Chen Xiaofeng finished, rubbing his full stomach.

Zhen Linna stood up in outrage. "How can this be? Brother Hai runs his business with integrity! Why can't they stand that?"

Zhen Linqi, however, took a more rational view. "Brother Hai, it's fine if you don't want to run the factory. It's not like your family is short on money."

Chen Xiaofeng quickly intervened. "No, no, no! My dad gave me some good advice. Brother Jia, you should really thank him."

"Oh? Who's your dad?" Jia Fuhai asked, intrigued but unaware of Chen Xiaofeng's background.
