The next day.
Near noon.
Chen Xiaofeng arrived with gifts in hand.
"Brother Jia, open the door quickly! It's Xiaofeng!" Chen Xiaofeng called into the phone.
Jia Fuhai opened the door but hadn't said anything when Chen Xiaofeng immediately started talking.
"Brother Jia, I brought a piano for the two kids. And some gifts for them too," Chen Xiaofeng announced.
"What are you doing?" Jia Fuhai asked, puzzled.
"I'm cultivating my godson's interests," Chen Xiaofeng shamelessly declared.
"My son didn't agree to that," Jia Fuhai replied expressionlessly. "Come in."
Chen Xiaofeng gestured for his staff to carry the piano inside. It was small—almost like a toy piano—meant for toddlers. Despite its size, it was the perfect fit for the two young children.
"My son's in the other room. I'm still cooking," Jia Fuhai pointed to where his son was and went back to the kitchen.
After asking his employees to leave, Chen Xiaofeng entered the room, carrying a bag of presents.
"Sister-in-law, Uncle, Aunt," Chen Xiaofeng greeted the others quickly.
They nodded in response.
"What is sister-in-law doing?" he asked, noticing the children's uncle playing chess with the two kids while using his phone.
"The Go club invited someone to play Go with the two brothers," Zhen Linqi explained.
"Oh my god, the Go club had to bring someone in to play with them?" Chen Xiaofeng felt his head spinning. He had been practicing the Rubik's Cube and wanted to challenge the two children.
Now he understood why he had lost so badly. The Go club had to hire someone because he wasn't even ranked.
He asked, almost afraid of the answer, "Sister-in-law, do you know what rank the opponent is?"
...
Inside the Go club.
"Master Zhang, your brother doesn't seem up to the task either," a fellow player joked as he looked at the board.
"...If you're so confident, why don't you take over? My elder brother is a sixth-dan player—do you think that's easy to beat?" Zhang shot back with a glare.
"..." The other player fell silent. Though he was also a fifth-dan player like Zhang Yishou, even a sixth-dan player was out of his league.
There are only about 50 sixth-dan players in the world. It's a rare rank and highly respected.
Master Zhang's elder brother wiped the sweat from his brow as he faced the board, his hands trembling slightly.
Zhang Yishou had mixed feelings. He felt sorry for his brother, but also exhilarated.
On one hand, his brother's brain was working overtime, heating up with the pressure.
On the other hand, he was excited because these two kids were terrifyingly good. Regular matches with Go enthusiasts were one thing, but playing against these babies felt like a completely different level—one that was both terrifying and challenging.
These kids had the potential to become future tenth-dan players, the highest possible rank in the game, the ultimate goal for professionals.
To reach the tenth dan, one cannot lose a single match in a year and must defeat players of eighth and ninth dan at least three times. Failing at any point would mean settling for a ninth-dan ranking, and trying again the next year.
So Zhang Yishou looked at his brother with mixed emotions—both pride and envy.
If kidnapping weren't illegal, he would've considered it just to get the chance to study these kids.
...
Back at Jia Fuhai's house, Chen Xiaofeng stood in stunned silence after hearing what his sister-in-law had said.
He glanced down at the Rubik's Cube he had been practicing. If the others hadn't been there, he might have thrown it to the ground in frustration.
Damn, how could Brother Jia's kids have such good genes?
Chen Xiaofeng watched as the old man wiped his sweat while playing Go with the child, Qi Yi, feeling sympathy for the elder.
To be one of the world's top 70 players and still get demolished by children—it was hard to watch.
For those who have worked their whole lives to rise to the top, this kind of experience could shatter their faith if their mental strength wasn't strong enough.
Just then, Jana got bored watching and wandered into the living room, where she spotted the piano.
She quickly approached and began pressing random keys.
The sound fascinated her, and she started playing haphazardly.
Mi, Mi, Da, Do,
A jumble of notes filled the air.
Soon, after figuring out some patterns, Jana started pressing keys in a more rhythmic fashion.
The room was soon filled with music—a magical, soulful sound that was impossible to ignore.
Everyone in the house, including Jia Fuhai in the kitchen, heard it.
Jia Fuhai wondered who could play the piano, but since he was cooking, he didn't check.
Chen Xiaofeng, Chen Lina, and the Zhen sisters followed the sound and emerged from their rooms.
When they saw Jana happily playing the piano, everyone fell silent.
"Oh my god, my son is a genius!" Zhen Lina squealed in delight.
"Sister-in-law, has Jana ever learned to play piano before?" Chen Xiaofeng asked, still in shock.
"No, this is the first time I've seen him play," Zhen Linqi replied, equally astonished. Could Jana have a natural talent for music as well?
Nobody interrupted; they just stood and listened in awe.
Zhen Lina, however, could barely contain her excitement. If not for Chen Lina holding her back, she would have rushed forward to shower her son with kisses.
When Jana finished playing, everyone burst into applause.
"Son, you're amazing!" Zhen Lina broke free and embraced her son, planting a kiss on his cheek.
Jana grimaced and wiped his cheek. "Why do you have to kiss so hard?"
"Jana, how did you learn to play like that?" Zhen Linqi asked.
"I just played what I felt like. It was fun," Jana said simply.
"Ah, the wild imagination of children," Zhen Linqi mused after a pause.
"Amazing," Chen Xiaofeng said, giving a thumbs-up.
Zhen Lina continued to nuzzle her son's face, while Jana looked visibly uncomfortable.
"Nana, stop! Naji looks uncomfortable," Chen Lina scolded, frowning at her sister. She then scooped up Jana herself.
"Xiaofeng, where did you get this piano?" Zhen Linqi asked.
"Yes, I bought it for the two brothers. But it seems I gave it to the right person." Chen Xiaofeng smiled. The small piano had cost him 200,000 yuan to customize, specifically for children.
"Thank you. I didn't realize it could unlock such talent," Zhen Linqi admitted.
"Hey, it's nothing. I'd love to adopt the two brothers as my godsons," Chen Xiaofeng said, glancing at Jana.
Jana remained blissfully unaware as he lay in his grandmother's arms.
('-'*)
Chen Xiaofeng felt a little disappointed. How could this child not acknowledge him? So many people wanted to be associated with him, a wealthy boss, yet these kids ignored him.
But after seeing their brilliance, he knew he still had a long way to go to win their favor.
Meanwhile, the sound of chaotic notes broke the silence.
"Nana, stop messing with the piano! It sounds awful!" Zhen Linqi called out, noticing her daughter pressing random keys.
"Why can my brother play, but I can't?" Nana pouted, frustrated.
"..." The others exchanged helpless looks.
"Your brother knows four languages. How many do you know?" Zhen Linqi asked pointedly.
"He's still my son," Nana mumbled, crossing her arms stubbornly.
"Can you give birth to a child all by yourself?" Zhen Linqi countered, raising an eyebrow.
"Hmph! I'll go ask Brother Hai if he can play it," Nana huffed, stomping away.
Zhen Linqi sighed, ignoring her sister's tantrum as the smell of delicious food wafted from the kitchen. "It's time to eat."
