Chapter 84

Jia Fuhai was cooking in the kitchen, reflecting on yesterday's events.

As expected, I could only get purple talent yesterday, but there's still plenty of time, so no rush.

"Turn up the heat until the sauce thickens! Transfer the dish to the serving plate."

Jia Fuhai brought the dishes to the table, where his family was already seated, waiting for him without needing to be called.

The three women at the table looked tired, and the room was silent. Zhen Fugui and his wife had nothing to say.

Zhen Fugui didn't bother speaking up anymore. His daughter enjoyed herself too much—what could he say? Even if he did speak, his daughter wouldn't listen, and Linna would just accuse him of meddling in her life.

Now, he only cared about his grandson and didn't involve himself in other matters. If he did, he'd just end up being disliked.

As long as Jia Fuhai continued cooking on time, he would pretend not to notice anything else.

It was infuriating!

Zhen Fugui frowned as he ate his son-in-law's food, but still appreciated the cooking.

The family ate lunch in silence.

Zhen Linna was unusually quiet today, obedient as a lamb, eating silently instead of her usual chatter.

The two little ones finished eating first. Jana made his way to the piano, something he had been doing after dinner recently. His father called it "practice," and Jana didn't mind, thinking it was fun.

The family prepared themselves for a musical treat—Jana's impromptu piano performances had become one of the highlights of their days.

Jana's piano teacher had only taught him basic skills and didn't dare to go beyond that. After hearing one of Jana's performances, the teacher understood what Zhen Linqi meant by "spirituality" and avoided rigid lessons. Instead, he let Jana express his emotions freely through the piano.

As the sound of the piano filled the room, everyone ate slowly, savoring the music while finishing their food.

Jana's music was full of joy. Even though they weren't experts, the emotions in his playing were clear, and for the first time, they realized how music could evoke such deep feelings.

Jia Fuhai had been enjoying his son's performances every day lately.

It did feel a bit like child labor, though.

But if this was how he got to enjoy himself, then so be it! Besides, this was a form of filial piety from his son, wasn't it? (???)

After the song ended, Jana, feeling a bit tired, decided to read some comics. He walked over to the study on his short little legs.

Watching his son leave, Jia Fuhai clicked his tongue in mild disappointment. If only his son were a bit older, he could play more often! Such talent shouldn't go to waste.

Zhen Fugui, on the other hand, had to resist the urge to punch his son-in-law. This lazy man was always using Jana's skills to make his own life easier!

"Exercise?" he scoffed. "More like laziness! There's no hope for him."

If it weren't for the fact that his grandson enjoyed playing with drones so much, he would have let this fool know that his fists were still as skilled as ever.

He stared at his son-in-law with a fiery gaze. He couldn't let this go on. He might've given up on his daughter's choices, but his precious grandson couldn't fall victim to the same laziness!

Chen Lina quickly kicked her husband under the table, sensing something off about him lately. He had been staring daggers at their son-in-law a lot, and she needed to have a chat with him.

Jia Fuhai, with his thick skin, felt the stare but shrugged it off. It didn't bother him.

After washing the dishes, he joined the women in the living room to rest.

He thought of Lin Feifei's mother and turned to ask, "Feifei, how are things with your mom?"

"She's the same as always, focused on her career. But we've been talking more frequently on the phone lately," Lin Feifei replied.

"Your mother has a very strong personality," Zhen Linqi chimed in, recalling the conversations between Lin Feifei and her mother.

"Yeah, there's not much I can do about it. Luckily, Brother Hai won her over with his cooking." Lin Feifei felt relieved that her mother had softened her stance on Jia Fuhai, thanks to his culinary skills.

Mother Lin didn't have much choice. Even though she was strong-willed, her daughter was pregnant. Could she really force her to stay home? Her daughter had already made her decision.

While Mother Lin secretly cursed Jia Fuhai, outwardly she neither opposed nor supported the relationship, simply letting things be.

Lin Feifei took that as her mother's tacit approval.

Jia Fuhai sat closer to Lin Feifei. "At least it's better than not contacting each other at all, right?"

Feeling the warmth radiating from him, Lin Feifei shifted uncomfortably and quickly remembered she had medical books to read.

"Brother Hai, I need to go grab a book," she said, standing up hurriedly.

"Wow, so diligent?" Jia Fuhai smiled. "By the way, how's Feifei doing in her medical studies?" He asked Zhen Linqi, not realizing he had startled Lin Feifei.

"It's still early. Feifei is starting from scratch, and now that she's pregnant, I bet Dr. Li is losing patience," Zhen Linqi replied.

"That shouldn't be the case. Dr. Li seems very understanding," Jia Fuhai said, impressed by Dr. Li's selflessness.

"Dr. Li is the only one being patient. If it were anyone else, Feifei would have been kicked out for sure. She's only just begun."

"But to her credit, Feifei is working hard. She's always got her nose in a book. Dr. Li even gave her a bunch of medical texts to study at home when she has free time."

After hearing Zhen Linqi's explanation, Jia Fuhai better understood Feifei's progress.

He looked at the two sisters, noticing the maturity in their auras. Their figures radiated energy, and their postures reflected the confidence of women fully in bloom.

Can medical knowledge truly keep you young forever? he wondered.
