The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room. Avira stirred in her bed, her mind clouded with lingering memories from the previous day. She blinked a few times, her heart feeling oddly restless.
Ananya, who had just stepped out of the washroom, noticed her friend's dazed expression. With a knowing smirk, she folded her arms. "What happened to my bestie?" she teased.
"Nothing," Avira replied hastily, avoiding her gaze.
Ananya arched a brow. "Oh really? Are you missing your boss, or perhaps... the morning kiss?"
Avira's face turned crimson. "Shut up, Ananya!"
Ananya burst into laughter, jumping onto the bed beside her. "Oh, shut up, me? No way! Spill the details! Tell me how you felt when you kissed."
Avira groaned, covering her face with a pillow. "It wasn't like that, okay? It just happened!"
Ananya poked her side. "Oh come on, Avira. You're acting just like me when Raj kissed me."
Hearing Raj's name, Avira sat up straight. "Raj! Oh, I am coming with you today. That idiot needs a lesson."
Ananya smirked. "Oh, so you want to meet him now?"
Avira shot her a glare. "I want to teach him a lesson."
Ananya shrugged playfully. "Same thing."
They both chuckled, continuing their playful banter while getting ready for the day. After finishing breakfast, they left their apartment and headed out to their respective workplaces.
At Aditya's company, Raj and Aditya stood near the glass-paneled windows, observing the entrance. Raj's gaze locked onto Ananya, and his eyes gleamed mischievously.
Aditya raised a brow. "What are you doing, Raj?"
Raj grinned. "Sir, your girl just arrived with my girl. You handle yours, and I'll handle mine."
Aditya shot him a look, but before he could respond, Kabir, Aditya's brother, walked in. "If you two are done staring, can we discuss actual work?"
Raj ignored him, adjusting his collar as he took a step forward. "Sir, your work is here, but mine is waiting somewhere else. Let me admire her first."
Aditya and Kabir exchanged looks as Raj marched forward confidently, heading straight toward Ananya.
Ananya, busy on her phone, sensed a presence and looked up to see Raj standing in front of her with a cocky smirk.
"Well, well, if it isn't my lioness looking fiery as ever," Raj teased.
Ananya rolled her eyes. "Get lost, Raj."
"Ouch! That hurts," he dramatically placed a hand over his chest. "After everything we've been through? After our moment yesterday?"
"Moment?!" Ananya glared. "You stole a kiss and ran away, you coward!"
Raj chuckled, taking a step closer. "Would you rather I stay and steal another one?"
Before she could slap him, Raj smoothly caught her wrist and leaned in, his voice dropping into a husky whisper. "I love you, my lioness."
With that, he pecked her lips lightly and sprinted off towards the office doors before Ananya could react.
Ananya stood frozen for a second, her cheeks flaming, then her rage exploded. "RAJ! YOU IDIOT! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!"
Raj, already halfway inside, turned back with a cheeky grin. "Catch me if you can, sweetheart!"
Cursing under her breath, Ananya stomped her foot and stormed off toward her own office, leaving the spectators amused.
Meanwhile, in Aditya's office, Avira was determined to keep her distance from him. She didn't know how to face him after everything that had happened. The kiss, the way he had taken care of her—it was too much to process. So when Aditya asked for a file, she saw the perfect opportunity to avoid him.
"Raj, can you take this to Aditya, please?" she asked, trying to sound casual.
Raj, always ready to stir some drama, smirked. "Oh? Running away from the boss, are we?"
"Just take it, Raj," she huffed, shoving the file into his hands.
Raj whistled to himself as he sauntered into Aditya's office. Placing the file on the desk, he grinned. "Sir, your file."
Aditya barely looked up. "Where's Avira?"
Raj's smirk widened. "Busy… avoiding you."
Aditya's fingers paused over his laptop keyboard. His jaw tightened for a second before something flickered in his eyes—something unreadable, yet dangerous. Then, to Raj's surprise, a small smirk tugged at his lips.
"Interesting," Aditya murmured, leaning back in his chair.
Raj raised a brow. "You don't seem mad."
Aditya exhaled, his fingers tapping against the desk. "Why would I be? If she's avoiding me… it only means I'm on her mind."
Raj let out a low whistle. "Damn, boss. That was smooth."
Aditya simply stood up, adjusting his cuffs. "Let's see how long she can keep this up."
Avira sat at her desk, pretending to be deeply focused on the documents in front of her. But her heart pounded in her chest the moment she felt a familiar presence behind her.
She stiffened. She didn't need to turn around to know who it was. The air around her felt heavier, charged with an undeniable intensity.
"Are you avoiding me?" Aditya's voice was deep, smooth, and dangerously close to her ear.
Avira swallowed hard, gripping her pen tighter. "No… why would I?" she muttered, though she knew how unconvincing she sounded.
Aditya leaned in, his breath warm against her skin. "Because if you are," he whispered, "you're doing a terrible job at it."
Her fingers trembled slightly. She willed herself to stay calm, but it was impossible with him standing so close, his presence overwhelming her senses.
He let a beat of silence stretch between them before he tilted his head slightly. "Look at me, Avira."
She hesitated but finally turned, only to find herself trapped in his smoldering gaze. His dark eyes held something intense—something that made her stomach flip.
Aditya reached out, his fingers brushing a stray strand of hair from her face, his touch featherlight yet deliberate.
"Next time," he murmured, his voice teasing yet firm, "if you want to avoid me, try harder."
Before she could even think of a response, he stepped back, flashing her a small, knowing smile.
And just like that, he walked away, leaving Avira sitting there—breathless, flustered, and completely lost in the whirlwind that was Aditya Singh.
