'Fuck...'

Brandon's heart pounded in his chest as he had never fought anything like this before.

Every muscle in his body screamed at him to run, but he forced himself to stay.

He saw that Calistra was already struggling with these two Abberants and if something happens to her, he alone couldn't do anything.

*swoosh* The Aberrant lunged at him with terrifying speed and Brandon barely managed to dodge, rolling to the side as the creature's claws tore through the air where he had just stood.

He scrambled to his feet and his chest rose up and down as he took deep breaths to control his beating heart.

"Stay behind me!" Calistra shouted, darting forward to intercept the second Aberrant.

But Brandon didn't retreat and tightened his grip on the dagger as he looked at the creature.

The Aberrant swiped again, but this time, Brandon was ready 'Above...'

He ducked low and drove the dagger upward, aiming for its exposed underbelly.

SHHNK! The blade sank in deep tearing through its muscles.

Black blood oozed from the wound, and the Aberrant roared in pain.

"Ruaaarghhh!"

Brandon pulled the dagger free and jumped back, trying to put some distance between himself and the beast.

But the Aberrant was relentless and charged again as it raised its claws for another strike.

Brandon's eyes widened as its claws tore through the air with terrifying speed, leaving no time to think.

'This fucking beast...' Instinct took over him and he dived to the right, narrowly avoiding the swipe.

Dirt and debris scattered beneath him but he quickly scrambled to his feet as he clutched the dagger tightly in his hand.

Calistra, already engaged with the second Aberrant, shot him a quick glance. "You, follow my lead. We're packing this thing down together."

She wasn't treating him like a liability anymore... she saw the potential to escape from this rupture.

And right now, Brandon had no choice but to trust her experience.

The Aberrant that Brandon had wounded roared again, black blood still dripping from its torn underbelly.

Despite its injury, it charged at him and Brandon gritted his teeth as he knew this thing wouldn't stop until it tore him apart.

Calistra's voice rang out amidst the chaos "When I move, strike low. I'll keep it distracted."

Before Brandon could answer, she was already in motion.

She darted forward and closed the distance between herself and Brandon's Aberrant in an instant as her twin daggers glowed with crackling blue ether energy.

SHING! Her first dagger slashed across the creature's chest, leaving a deep, sizzling wound.

"FRAARGH!" The Aberrant howled and she pivoted, as her second dagger sliced upward in a brutal arc.

Sparks flew as her blade skimmed across the creature's bone.

The Aberrant lashed out, swinging its claws towards her but Calistra ducked low, and twisted around to its side "Now!"

Brandon didn't hesitate and dashed forward, aiming for the creature's exposed flank.

His dagger plunged into its side, right where its ribs met its abdomen.

THUNK!

The blade sank deep into its flesh as black blood oozed from the wound, and the Aberrant let out a guttural screech.

Calistra didn't waste the opening and spun on her heel, driving her first dagger into the back of the Aberrant's leg.

Lightning exploded from the blade, forcing the creature to drop to one knee.

Brandon saw the opportunity and pulled his dagger back before plunging it upward, aiming for the creature's neck.

SLASH!

The Aberrant's head snapped back as black blood trailed through the air.

It staggered, but its rage kept it upright.

"Not done yet!" Calistra vaulted into the air, twisting her body as she launched both daggers down.

They struck the Aberrant's shoulders, pinning it to the ground with a burst of energy.

The Aberrant's body convulsed under the electric shock.

It let out a final roar, swinging its claws wildly before taking its last breath.

Brandon let out a deep sigh and Calistra landed beside him.

"Together this time..." she said, raising one dagger as she looked at the remaining Abberant.

Brandon nodded and their eyes met for a brief second... a silent agreement passing between them.

The Aberrant let out a guttural roar and charged forward.

Its claws scraped against the ground, throwing up dirt and debris as it barreled toward them with terrifying speed.

Calistra darted to the right, deliberately leaving an opening to bait the Aberrant into attacking.

As expected, the beast turned its attention toward her and lunged as its claws swiped through the air, aiming to tear her apart.

But Calistra twisted her body, narrowly avoiding the strike.

The Aberrant's momentum carried it forward, and in that split second, she slashed downward with both daggers.

SHING!

Her blades slashed into the creature's back, but the Aberrant didn't slow and whipped around, trying to catch her with its claws.

"Now!" she shouted.

Brandon dashed forward from the Aberrant's blind side and drove the blade toward its exposed ribcage.

THUNK!

The dagger tore through its muscles and Brandon twisted the blade for good measure before pulling it back.

The creature lashed out in desperation, but Brandon ducked under its swipe and rolled away.

Using the opening, Calistra ducked low and slashed its leg with enough force to tear its tendons apart.

"Switch!" Calistra shouted.

In a flash, Brandon leaped over the fallen Aberrant, landing on its opposite side and raised his dagger above his head

At the same time, Calistra twisted her entire body into a powerful downward strike.

SHRIIKK!

Her dagger sank deep into the Aberrant's chest, sending another burst of lightning coursing through its body.

Brandon didn't wait and pushed his dagger into the back of the Aberrant's neck, severing its spine with a brutal twist.

CRACK!

"GUAARGHH...." The Aberrant let out one final, choking gasp before collapsing to the ground.

Brandon pulled the dagger and took deep breaths, panting heavily.

Sweat dripped down his face, and his hands trembled from the adrenaline still surging through his veins.

'W-What the fuck was that.. shit.. Haa.. haa...'

Calistra stood over the fallen creature and wiped the blood from her daggers as she looked over at Brandon.
