Strange dream

Berlin sat on her bed mumbling while trapped in a trance. She just had a very strange dream or was it?

Although she was saved from the stab wound, Berlin realized that there were no bandages, how was she even alive? Did her husband save her? and she did not believe he would. Or wish to see her. Let alone rescue her and bring her back to the Wayne family residence.

Berlin covered her face and burst into tears. However, She suddenly felt that her face and skin were extremely smooth.

Fear that she might be mistaken, she continued to feel her skin. There was no scar left by the accident. In addition, Berlin noticed the engagement and wedding ring on her fingers.

There were wedding decorations and congratulatory designs on her way here...

He had divorced her.

After her divorce, he gave her a large sum of alimony, and sent her packing. She had grown to love him but he didn't.

What's happening?

The scars and bruises were gone, and wedding decorations and the wedding ring were still on her finger...

Her heart suddenly started racing. Berlin thought of a crazy possibility and her heart skipped a beat.

It felt like her mind was playing tricks on her,

Berlin held the blanket up and rolled herself under the bed. And the tears began.

But it feels so real to her and probably she had experienced her past and future life.

It wasn't a happy life. Most of the time were filled with suffering and tears. But there were times she had felt peace and joy.

'Mom...'

Her mother was beautiful, kind, smelt like flowers, a strong fighter and a very loving woman. They had always stuck together, had lengthy conversations about boys, and college, cracked jokes, cooked together, taking care of each other. They struggled to make ends meet. Their living conditions and standards were not as high but it was simple and most of all, they had each other's place of home. It seemed like only yesterday and her happiest moments belonged to those early days.

All the misfortune had come as a surprise. Barbara had fallen sick due to cancer. Her mother had become Soo weak that she had to be hospitalized for Soo long, The hospital became their second home, and the illness had overpowered her. She was losing her attractive black hair, her voice, and eyes, which had liveliness in them, were fading, the therapies weren't working anymore, then the doctors gave her what time she had left to spend, happiness had evaporated, sadness, and sorrow had taken over and no matter how much Berlin prayed, or cried, nothing changed.

Mrs. Lydia, her mother's childhood friend, had been there for them, throughout everything, bringing gifts, cooking nourishing meals, and promising to secure Berlin's future by marrying her to her son, who was currently in the States. Berlin had agreed for her mother's sake, never realizing the consequences of that decision.

Berlin understood her mother's decision. She had done her best to shield and cater for her until her very last breath.

Three weeks later Barbara passed away.

And Berlin's nightmare began.

She was taken in by Mathew Morgan, only to be thrown into a house that despised her existence. Her stepmother, Margaret, and half-sister, Chloe, treated her as nothing more than a stain on their perfect family.

Her husband's product of infidelity.

On the outside, they looked welcoming, hospitable and forgiving.

But that was not the case. For as long as she could remember, her stepmother and half-sister, were the complete opposite of milk and honey.

Mageret and Chloe took it as a task to always rain insults saying she was the illegitimate child of her father and his worthless mistress. And so, she was maltreated in the house.

She had no idea her mother was a mistress. While she had been alive, Her Mother had never mentioned a word about it to her. Berlin was mortified by this revelation. Still knowing she had no idea, that didn't deter them one bit.

Her father paid no attention to her. He never noticed how the mother and daughter pair treated her like an outcast.

In the Morgan family, she had no one but herself. Till she met Tasha Bane, the best friend she loved so dearly. It turned out she was faking everything up until the very end.

Tasha was always lively, outspoken, outgoing, full of charm and joyfulness. She was a breath of fresh air, the only person who made her feel wanted. And they were inseparable.

Until she fell madly in love.

For months, she had gushed about a man she adored, had a crush on, taking trips abroad to see him, fantasizing about their future together. Berlin had always been happy for her.

Until she learned the man Tasha loved was Callous Wayne.

Berlin had never wanted to marry him. She hadn't even known who he was at the time. But Mrs. Lydia had arranged the marriage, and Berlin's mother had insisted. The bride price had cleared their debts, securing Barbara's final wish for her daughter to be taken care of. It was never her fault in any way.

To some extent, she felt she had stolen her friend's happiness, and snatched Tasha's purpose of living. Berlin saw it in her eyes, Tasha's sudden loss of appetite, consistent headaches, and loss of weight, it was hard to watch.

Tasha had been heartbroken, but she had smiled through her pain, convincing Berlin to go through with the wedding. She claimed she would move on.

Berlin had believed her.

She had been a fool.

A loud knock on the door jolted Berlin from her spiraling thoughts. She stiffened, her pulse hammering in her ears.

"Come in?" she called hesitantly.

The heavy wooden door creaked open, revealing a man in a crisp suit. His piercing gaze met hers, unreadable.

"Mrs. Wayne," he addressed her formally. "The master is waiting for you. And Miss Bane just arrived"

Berlin felt her breath hitch in her throat. Tasha?

Her mind spun as she tried to process the words.

She is here.

The very friend who had once been her light and confidant. And had killed her all for the desire of a man.

Then it dawned on her. There is a trap awaiting for her to Walk right into it.

Will she fall for it?
