Chapter 2: Punishment

Everyone in the class was left dumbfounded by what He Peng had done. Jumping off the fifth floor was no small matter. I was the first to snap out of it and rushed out of the classroom. He Peng's twisted corpse was lying in a pool of blood downstairs.

The head teacher and school leaders quickly arrived at the scene and called the police.

When the police came, they just examined He Peng's body and then checked the surveillance cameras. Every move He Peng made was captured on film, and no one had approached him. So in the end, this matter became a matter of communication between the school and the parents, and no one knew exactly what the outcome was.

Just as we were still in a state of shock, the Little Devil in the group sent a message:

"He Peng's punishment is completed. The second round of the game was not finished. The next lucky person will continue the previous round of the game until it's done. Everyone, keep grabbing the red envelopes!"

After that, he sent another red envelope.

This time, everyone wasn't excited anymore. Instead, they were rather angry, and many classmates directly started cursing in the group.

"Damn it! Are you crazy? He Peng just died. Do you have any humanity at all?"

"Enough is enough!"

I saw Li Juan sitting in her seat, trembling all over. She also sent a message: "I don't know who you are in the class. Do you have a grudge against me? Don't think that just because you have money you're so great. Can you show some respect for the deceased?"

Zhang Ya, for a rare moment, was being serious: "Let's call it quits. Stop playing. It's really boring."

Everyone was chatting in the group one after another, but no one left the group. Anyway, the reason I didn't leave the group was that I still hoped to get some red envelopes after this was all over. I guessed that everyone else thought the same as me.

The Little Devil still sent a smiling face emoji and said:

"Once the game starts, it can't end. This is what you all agreed to before. Since you've taken my money, you have the obligation to complete the game. Also, leaving the group or telling outsiders about this game will also result in punishment. If no one grabs the red envelope, then I'll decide who will play the game."

Wang Rui directly typed "SB" and then said:

"Damn it! Do you think you're some big shot? You just say you'll punish us? He Peng's death was just an accident. Do you dare to admit that you killed him?"

The Little Devil almost replied instantly: "I killed him!"

This sentence made my heart jolt. My intuition told me that he didn't seem to be joking.

Wang Rui was silenced by this reply.

Despite all the scolding, there were still some bold classmates who grabbed the red envelope. Once someone took the lead, no one wanted to be left behind. Soon, the red envelope was all grabbed up. I let out a long sigh of relief. Fortunately, I wasn't the lucky person this time.

The lucky person this time was Sun Xin.

After class, I went to the restroom. When I came back, I saw a fight breaking out in the class. I pushed through the crowd to take a look. Li Juan, with red-rimmed eyes, was grabbing Sun Xin's collar, and Sun Xin's face was already a bit swollen and red.

I asked Xiao Ming, who was watching the commotion, what had happened. Xiao Ming curled his lips and said, "This Sun Xin is a coward. He probably believed what the Little Devil said in the group. He was afraid of being punished, so after class, he secretly touched Li Juan's face when she wasn't paying attention. Hehe."

Li Juan slapped Sun Xin across the face again with red eyes and gritted her teeth, saying:

"You're so disgusting! How dare a piece of trash like you touch my face? I'll beat you to death!"

Sun Xin probably couldn't take it anymore. He shook off Li Juan's hand and pointed at her, saying:

"Enough is enough! You caused He Peng's death, and now you want to cause mine too? I don't want to die."

"What does He Peng's death have to do with me?"

Sun Xin raised his voice: "If you hadn't refused to let him touch you, would he have fallen off the building?"

Li Juan was left speechless by Sun Xin's shout. She was so angry that she趴on the desk and cried, and no one went to comfort her. She really had a bad reputation.

Some people were laughing and watching the commotion, while others were trying to figure out who the Little Devil really was and who in the class was pretending to be him.

At this moment, a new message came in the group from the Little Devil.

"Sun Xin has completed the game. The red envelope amount has been upgraded to 300 yuan."

"The third round of the game starts. The lucky person has to kiss Su Chunxiao for thirty seconds and complete it within one hour."

After saying that, he quickly sent out a red envelope.

At first, everyone was just blindly grabbing the red envelope, but when they saw the content of the third round of the game, they couldn't help but sigh. Why was this game never-ending?

I couldn't help but ask:

"Little Devil, do you dare to say who you are? It's okay to play, but can you have some boundaries?"

Other classmates also started to echo:

"Yeah, Su Chunxiao is my goddess."

"Can we stop playing this dirty game? It's really annoying."

But human nature is really hard to predict. There were really some people who silently grabbed the red envelope. Just like last time, once someone took the lead, others grabbed it really fast.

At the thought that Su Chunxiao was going to be forced to be kissed soon, I was so anxious that I quickly opened the red envelope. To my disappointment, the lucky person turned out to be Wang Rui.

Although Wang Rui was a bit of a tough guy, he was quite loyal. He directly started cursing in the group using voice messages:

"Fuck you! Do you dare to let me see who you are? Do you really think I'm just fooling around? Do you think you can just order me around in this game? I'm not playing this game today. Let's see what you can do to me, you son of a bitch!"

It was obvious that Wang Rui was really angry. He already had a bad temper, and with his connections with people in the underworld, I believed that if the Little Devil was caught by him, he would definitely be in for a hard time.

Su Chunxiao was the class beauty in our class. She was really sweet-looking and loved wearing white shirts and white canvas shoes. I had liked her for a long time but had never dared to confess. Because there were so many people chasing her, and she had rejected them all by saying that she wanted to focus on her studies. How could a loser like me have a chance? I could only secretly have a crush on her.

Su Chunxiao sent an embarrassed emoji and said: "Everyone, stop playing. Let's have a good class."

From beginning to end, the Little Devil never replied again. Everyone didn't seem to care much about it either. But in my heart, I kept thinking that one hour was just one and a half classes. If Wang Rui really didn't play the game, would he be punished?

I silently prayed in my heart, hoping that He Peng's death was really just a coincidence. If Wang Rui was okay after one hour, I would leave the group immediately.

As time passed, for some reason, I started to get more and more nervous.

I noticed that Su Chunxiao, who was sitting in the front, would look back at Wang Rui from time to time, and Wang Rui seemed to be restless, looking around. I knew that although everyone was talking tough, they were just as scared as I was inside.

Halfway through the math class, the Little Devil suddenly sent a message in the group:

"There are still five minutes left until the end of the third round of the game."

I quickly looked up and scanned the classmates in the class to see who was sending the message on their phone, but unfortunately, I couldn't find any clues at all.

Everyone didn't respond either. One reason was that we were in class, and the other was that no one knew what would happen in five minutes.

Time passed quickly. I stared at the phone in my hand. When the five minutes were up, the Little Devil sent a message on time in the group:

"The game time is up. Wang Rui didn't complete the game. The punishment is 'chilling to the bone'."

I exclaimed along with the other classmates. Everyone looked at Wang Rui in unison. Was he really going to be punished after all?

Wang Rui shrugged his body indifferently and showed a disdainful expression.

The math teacher slammed the desk and shouted loudly:

"What are you all looking at? Wang Rui! What are you up to this time? Stand up for me!"

Wang Rui reluctantly stood up, looking innocent, and didn't forget to reply with a "SB" in the group on his phone.

But as soon as Wang Rui stood up, he tripped over something. His whole body instantly leaned forward. There was a pen standing upright on his desk with the tip pointing upwards. I saw him insert the pen into the desk himself.

I only heard him groan, and then he didn't move anymore.

"Ah... Someone's dead!"

The classmate sitting next to him was so scared that he jumped up and ran away, shouting. The math teacher rushed over quickly, calling 120 while checking Wang Rui's injury.

I widened my eyes and saw through the gap that the whole pen had been inserted into Wang Rui's chest, and a small part of it was still sticking out from his back, stained with blood.

The class was in chaos. The math teacher barely managed to control his panic and, with a trembling voice, told everyone to gather on the playground first. The police would come to deal with it soon.

Was this what "chilling to the bone" meant?

I felt my legs go weak. I was afraid not only of the sight of Wang Rui's death but also because what the Little Devil said seemed to be true!

The classmates in the class walked to the playground with heavy hearts one by one. I couldn't even find someone to talk to.

At this moment, another message rang in the group, which was like a bolt from the blue to me.

The Little Devil first sent a smiling face emoji and then said:

"The punishment is completed. Next, continue to grab the red envelope. The lucky person still has to kiss Su Chunxiao for 30 seconds within one hour!"

Everyone stared at their phones numbly, at a loss. Many female classmates started crying.

The Little Devil added another sentence:

"By the way, I forgot to say that whoever doesn't grab the red envelope will replace the punished person and receive the punishment!"

I'm just an ordinary student and not very resourceful. I just hope that all of this is really just a game. The only thing I can do is to carefully observe everyone in the class and catch this Little Devil.

There were a few female classmates with poor psychological endurance, muttering, "I don't want to die. I don't want to die..." and then they opened the red envelope.

Then everyone opened the red envelope one after another. I saw Su Chunxiao standing alone on the side, with tears still seemingly in her eyes. I wanted to go over and comfort her, but her girlfriends got there first.

I had to give up. I picked up my phone and opened the red envelope. It was 74.6 yuan!

I felt a shiver run down my spine instantly. I frowned and looked back at Su Chunxiao. She also looked at me.

Someone next to me whispered:

"The lucky person is Xiang Nan. Fortunately, it's not me. I don't want to play this game that gets people killed!"

I let out a bitter sigh. This time, I was the lucky person. What should I do?
