Chapter 9: The Trouble-Making Mutant Sister

The teacher's office at Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters was really just a guest room on the second floor of the mansion. Professor Xavier had modified it into an office, and right now, only Ororo was inside.

She sat at her desk, grading papers, her furrowed brows making it clear that if these were report cards, quite a few students were in for trouble.

Seeing her displeased expression, Zhou Yi quietly walked up behind her, wrapped an arm around her waist, and whispered, "If the kids find out you gave them a bunch of Ds, they're definitely going to start calling you the Wicked Witch again."

Ororo sighed helplessly. "Yi, you should know that the one who calls me that the most is your sister."

"Wow, then I guess Cherise and I really are alike. We both have no clue when it comes to math." Zhou Yi shrugged and turned Ororo around to face him.

She was wearing a white qipao embroidered with blue floral patterns, which complemented her graceful figure and her deep, rich skin tone. Paired with her rare silver hair, she exuded an exotic beauty that was impossible to ignore.

"Incredible. You're stunning," Zhou Yi said honestly.

Ororo smirked, clearly pleased. She adjusted her posture slightly, revealing part of her smooth, toned thigh through the slit of her dress. The curve of her legs led down to her ankles and a pair of elegant white heels, giving off an air of refined femininity.

Zhou Yi's admiring gaze made Ororo smile even more. "What do you think? Isn't Zhou Yi's taste impeccable?" she teased.

"Absolutely." He straightened his tie proudly. "My taste is the best in the world, especially when it comes to appreciating beautiful women. Ororo, you're so breathtaking that only these roses can do you justice."

Ororo, delighted, took the roses and asked, "Is it just me this time?"

"Wow, Ororo, it's always been just you," Zhou Yi replied smoothly.

She rolled her eyes but placed the flowers on her desk. "Alright, let's get to business."

"No problem. I agree—personal matters can wait until tonight." Zhou Yi grinned.

"We'll see about that." Ororo tossed a stack of papers at him.

Zhou Yi flipped through them—report cards, all belonging to Cherise Ferguson. The best grade was a C, most were Ds.

"What is this, an awards ceremony?" Zhou Yi rubbed his temples. "Looks like she's racking up a bunch of third and fourth-place prizes."

"No first-place wins, though." Ororo shot down his attempt at optimism. "This isn't the real issue. I wouldn't have shown you this otherwise."

"Alright, I can take it. What did she do?" Zhou Yi's expression turned serious. Cherise was his soft spot—one of the people he cared about most in the world.

"Cherise's power is special. You know that. She can open portals in three-dimensional space at will. To her, there's nowhere she can't go. The professors all agree it's a rare and dangerous ability. But the problem is, she's way too reckless with it."

"Two months ago, she and two students snuck out at night and used their powers on a drunk guy, teleporting him onto the Brooklyn Bridge over and over, making him experience freefall for five straight minutes. When he was finally saved, he swore off drinking forever.

Then, two weeks ago, she and Kitty snuck out again. Her powers went out of control, and she accidentally teleported a roller coaster off its track. Jean had to step in and save everyone while wiping the memories of the regular people involved."

"That's bad." Zhou Yi frowned. "What does Cherise have to say about it?"

"She felt bad afterward, but you know her—she doesn't think it's a big deal."

"She's as confident as I am, huh?" Zhou Yi sighed. He met Ororo's gaze and said seriously, "You guys are watching her closely, right?"

"Yes." Ororo hesitated before confirming, "Jean and I check on the students every hour during breaks. Your sister is a priority."

"Then promise me something, Ororo," Zhou Yi said, taking her hands. "If something like this happens again, tell me. Let me handle it."

Ororo wanted to refuse, but seeing how serious he was, she swallowed her words. After a moment, she nodded. "I'll talk to Jean."

Cherise pouted as she watched Zhou Yi and Ororo drive away in a sports car. "That jerk. Always taking the Wicked Witch out. He doesn't care about me at all."

"Cherise, are you actually obsessed with your brother?" Kitty, her roommate, asked, surprised.

"Kitty, do you have a death wish?" Cherise shrieked, opening a portal and lunging at her. Kitty dodged, turning into a mist and phasing through the floor.

But another portal appeared beneath her, and she fell straight into Cherise's trap.

"You're doomed, Kitty." Cherise grinned wickedly, her fingers wiggling as she tickled Kitty into hysterical laughter.

"S-Stop! I take it back! You're not obsessed with your brother!" Kitty gasped between laughs.

"No way." Cherise didn't let up. "Unless you agree to sneak out with me tonight."

Kitty immediately phased through Cherise and reappeared behind her. "You're insane! Did you forget what happened last time? Jean and Ororo nearly killed you. You were grounded for two days."

"I know," Cherise admitted, finally stopping. "But this time, it's different. We're going to a bar. With Fenella."

"You've lost your mind! You're sixteen! Ororo will kill you." Kitty's jaw dropped.

"Hey, my idiot brother did way worse when he was sixteen. If he can do it, why can't I?" Cherise smirked. "Or are you scared? Want to stay a goody-goody Barbie doll forever?"

Kitty hesitated, then huffed. "I'm not convincing Fenella for you. And Cherise—you are totally obsessed with your brother. 100%."
