TAVERN OF SAND-II

Time stops as Sirius walks towards the bar. Screams and shrieks cut through the air as people race out of his way some falling and getting trampled on. His eyes on the two men grabbing the girl, he fires three shots at the man closest to him. The spikes go straight through the man's neck and chest and before he falls, Sirius fires two more at the other.

The spikes don't land as a hand scoops them both out of the air. The biggest man or biome Sirius has ever seen stands before him a smirk on his face. He wears a dirty green vest with black trousers, his bare arms revealing the almost infamous tattoos. Black swords on a black shield on his biceps and a snake creeping out of his part-covered chest onto his wide neck.

 "Move," Sirius says longshot aimed.

"Or what?" The tattooed man asks.

"Trust me you do not want to find out my good man,"

The man moves closer so that the longshot is directly on his chest grinning even wider. Sirius' view of the girl is blocked her screams causing him to grimace.

"You must not know who I am," the man says.

"And what exactly makes you think that?"

Sirius stares in shock as the man grabs his longshot and bends as he inches closer. He wraps one of his large hands around Sirius' neck and stares directly into his eyes.

"Let's see. First of all, you come into my club with a girl I don't know and not introduce yourselves,"

Sirius's nose breaks as the first punch lands.

"Next, you walk in here with these things and kill one of my men without even asking,'

Another punch lands on the same exact spot as before on Sirius's face.

"How am I supposed to explain to his woman that he was killed by a man I do not know all because he touched a girl?"

Sirius' head spins as two more punches land on him. He feels blood trail down from his nose into his mangled mouth and split lips. He takes in a deep breath just before another punch lands. The man's grip loosens and Sirius knows the last punch will take him out.

 "Gomaa!" Sirius yells.

The man looks back at the surviving man then to the other folk in the club laughing. He slaps Sirius and lets him fall.

"Finally, you called me good man. If you had taken your time to learn about anything in this city, you would have known that I am no good man. I have not even a bone in my body that has virtue within it," he says pulling out his blast gun.

Sirius coughs out blood sure that a tooth falls out as well trying to sit up. He aims his remaining longshot at the man and fires. The spike misses widely striking the wall behind the bar, Sirius groaning.

"I am going to kill you, you idiot but before that you will watch as I take your lady's innocence," he says walking towards the girl.

 "now my darkness?"

 "Yes!"

The temperature drops as the familiar sensation creeps up his skin, his blood boiling a little. His fingertips tingle with the sensation of ice forming though there is none. His legs have strength once more.

"My good man, that is no way to treat a lady," Sirius says flexing his fingers.

The man turns around, a bit of shock on his face at the sight of Sirius standing.

"Unhand her and perhaps I may spare your life,"

The man laughs at him. He signals to one of the men closest to him who shoots at Sirius with a rifle. In an instant, Sirius' position changes from the direct target to a little behind the fella. He breaks the gun into two with his own hands and sticks both into the mans neck.

"You made complaint that I had not introduced myself Mr. Plank so allow me," Sirius says letting the fella drop to the floor.

"My name is Sirius and I am from the city Acropolis. I am a captain of the City Guard and a highly respected nobleman. My job as you would assume is to find scum like you and exterminate them from the face of the earth. You have proven to be scum by seeking to harm my beautiful partner for the night and now I will punish you. Then she will punish you,"

Sirius cocks his neck to the side waiting for Plank to make his move. Sure as dumb as he is, Plank signals to three other men to kill Sirius his hands still on the girl. Sirius waits as they approach then meets them tearing through each's chest with his fists. Plank lets go of the girl and charges at him yelling "Fucking remnant!"

Sirius sidesteps him, kicks his right leg and holds him by the neck from behind making him kneel. Plank pulls out another smaller blast gun from his trouser waist band and fires through Sirius' chest. Sirius smiles at the man's horror as his chest sews itself back from the burn. With his free hand he slaps Plank on the back and lets him fall groaning and wheezing.

 "Alish come here,"

The girl arranging her torn dress walks towards them. She stops next to Sirius glaring at the fallen Plank.

"I want you to scare him but make sure he can walk and talk," Sirius says.

 "Why?"

"I need him to tell the message that the condemned should never mess with the Acropolis,"

With that Sirius walks away headed for the washrooms. He stops at the bar where the bartender stands petrified. Sirius smiles at him extending his hand.

"What's your name again young man?"

 "Tibe," the bartender squeaks.

"Right then Tibe do have my drink ready when I return with my coat.

 ****

Sirius and Alish stand in alley waiting. Sirius drinks from his bottle one last time then smashes it against the wall making Alish flinch. She slaps his arm playfully. She now wears a pair of black trousers and dons the same sort of coat as Sirius who's now busy looking for a pack of cigarettes.

"They're in the hover you dumbass,"

Sirius' face reads disappointment but he has no time to speak as what they were waiting for sounds closer. He pulls Alish closer to him by the wall as they watch a scared shitless Plank hobble with at least twelve men by him.

"He brought his whole gang?" Alish whispers.

"Yep and they have the heavy artillery with them. I've counted ten blast guns and at least a plasma rifle. These guys mean business eh," Sirius says.

 "So what are waiting for?"

An unworldly sound fills the night air like hundreds of screams. Sirius looks up at the buildings Alish following his line of vision till she spots a hulking figure standing at the top of one of the buildings. It roars one more time and disappears from sight.

"That thing and it's coming fast so let's move,"
