His trial had passed rather quickly, and the judgement was unequivocal. Death penalty, via a lethal serum.

And he had to administer a triple dose to kill. And he managed to laugh a little before he died. Luckily he just died without leaving behind any ancient gods or deadly toxins. I specifically asked that he be cremated, to avoid the various Lazarus Pits and other resurrection methods.

Although there are methods in the world that will help to resurrect without a body, but those are much harder to get, so I'm not worried about them. And the Joker isn't as dangerous as Darkseid or Doomsday, so I don't care about him. Even the rank and file of my squad can deal with him.

Work starts up again today, and I've already got a few cases on my plate. Mysterious murders in DC that have been linked to metalmen. Strange cases of missing ships near San Francisco. Satanic rituals involving killing people in several states surrounding Metropolis at once.

These three cases are the most important ones I've been entrusted with. And the first one can be safely assigned to my subordinates, it's not as dangerous. As for the rituals, I will entrust this case to the Hassans, who are already studying the cities.

But the second case seems dangerous enough to me. There is Atlantis in this world, and it is not particularly favourable to humans. Well, there's both anti-human and pro-human.

It will be necessary to personally come to this city, to find out everything, and at the same time to try to find Aquaman. If this has anything to do with Atlantis, he knows everything. Well, I think so... Still, he might not be the king of Atlantis yet, and he hasn't even been there once.

Thinking about it, I left the prison where Joker was executed and got into the car. I still need to talk to Stormtrooper. He and I hadn't been able to have a quiet conversation since he was drafted, but there was no time.

I was quickly transported to the base, and I went straight to the engineering department. He's probably sitting there. But I never did find out exactly what his name was. Well, his first name is Adam, but I don't know his last name. All right, I'll look it up later.

I didn't see him in Engineering, so I thought I'd just ask someone about him.

- Major Kent! - the engineer greeted me as soon as I approached him.

- At ease. Tell me, have you seen Adam? - I asked him, hoping that he would understand me without giving me his last name.

- He's in his office in the Argent Building right now! - The engineer told me loudly enough.

- Hmmm, okay. Thanks, and sorry for interrupting," I told him and quickly walked out. So he's in our building after all.It didn't take long to get there, so after a minute I was standing in front of a door that looked like it belonged to Adam. When I knocked, I went straight inside and saw the man I knew, who was now looking at a drawing on his computer.

- Commander? Greetings," he turned round and saw me and stood up sharply, greeting me.

- Sit down, I won't be long. I want to hear about your progress, and ask how you are in the new world, - I told him.

- Good. The new world, despite the first impression, is still quite advanced. You can see the technology of different civilisations, and because of that the development was not quite equal in all spheres. However, recreating ships is out of the question now, as we can't find the right alloys and equipment to make them. And so for now I focused on alloys, machine tools, and droids that could be made from fairly simple materials. Neo said he could help me create AI for the droids, so that's what we're focusing on right now," he told me, showing me his blueprints. And there was something not too clear, though it resembled a regular droid. I didn't understand the explanations at all, even though they were written in English.

- Fine, but what I'm interested in now is a timeline. When exactly will the first results be ready? - I asked him.

- We need at least a month," he answered calmly.

- Good. Oh yes, in addition to droids, think about armour. Our squad needs adequate protection," I said calmly as I walked out.

I think we can leave Adam alone for a while, and Neo as well. The General and I talked about Mukuro, and the brass decided to keep her on the squad. So she's the one I'm assigning to investigate the Gotham murders. I'm gonna keep Domino in Gotham for now. She's asked me to send her there, and every day something unpleasant happens in that city, so Domino will have a job there.

I'm gonna have to go to San Francisco right now to check my hunch. If this has anything to do with Atlantis, I need to act fast.

But first, I'll talk to Semilia and assign her my task. I still need someone to run this place in my absence.

Quickly reaching our house and entering the girl's flat, I moved towards the living room, but met there not Semilia, but Alice, who was reading something with an irritated expression on her face.

- Is it interesting? - I asked her, coming closer.

- Ah! What... Ed? - She jumped up when she heard me, and then calmed down, "Not really. I found a manga here that I wanted to read. But it's a little disappointing. All the manga in this world are too simple and uninteresting," she said, tossing the manga aside disappointedly.

- It's unfortunate, but there's nothing you can do about it," I said, thinking about what she said. Uninteresting manga, huh? As far as I remember, there aren't many interesting books here either. There are Marvel comics, but very few of them, unlike my original world. That could be changed, but I'd need the right people... Hmmm, I could easily summon such people, it's just a matter of luck. Their worlds will have their own interesting books, films, comics and manga. I just have to be lucky enough to summon a character who can bring that to our world, - So what I wanted, do you know where Semilia is?

- Don't you know? - She asked, looking at me strangely, "She's at your flat.

- That's it," I said, realising everything, "Thanks, I'll be off.

- Bye, Ed," she said quietly, following me.

After walking a few metres and entering the next flat, which belonged to me, I immediately found the girl I was looking for. There she was lying on the couch, eating pizza and watching some film on the TV.

- I see you are enjoying life and relaxation? - I asked her with a smile, a very kind smile.

- Yes... Can't we? - She asked me, realising from my face that there was a catch.

- Of course you can, but~o~o... You have a job now," I said, walking over to the girl and sitting down next to her, "I'm going on an urgent mission, and I'll need someone to keep an eye on things here in my absence.

- You make a poor girl do your job," she sighed heavily, looking at me, "All right, I can't help it. But why don't you tell your girlfriend where exactly you're going?

- San Francisco. We need to check the danger of a problem," I said, stroking Semilia's head as she lay on my lap, "Ships have been going missing recently. And it would be good if it's just mutant whales or smugglers-metahumans, because there are suspicions that it could be done by a whole race of fish-men who control the ocean.

- How... complicated. Yeah and actually sounds like a weird plot for some book. I'd hear more about it though," the girl said, closing her eyes and relaxing.

- Hmmm, you remember me telling you about Aquaman, right? - I asked, and got a nod from the girl who opened her eyes, "Well, he's of that race. All of them are inhabitants of Atlantis, which actually exists, and the views of these people are different. Some are in favour of peace with us and some are in favour of war, and I will have to make sure that in a possible war for power those who are in favour of peace with us win.

- Atlantis... Amazing. And how are you even going to arrange that? - she asked me.

- Well, maybe I won't have to do anything if my fears aren't realised. In that case, it would mean that no one from Atlantis has anything against us. And if things go badly, then... first I will deal with those who are doing harm now, and then I will decide as I go along.

- Then all I can do is wish you luck! And I'm already glad that I only have to keep an eye on everything else, instead of doing all of... this," she said, standing up abruptly from my lap and moving to the kitchen. All I had to do was silently follow her.

- This is so cruel! You're leaving me to my fate, and you could have offered to help," I said calmly, seeing the girl take the pizza out of the oven and start eating it right away.

- You won't take me anyway, because otherwise you would have already offered me to join you," she said calmly.

- Okay... I have no arguments here, - I answered, - By the way, about replacing me, Neo will help you. He's getting the hang of it, and he'll help you report to me in case of emergencies.

- Okay, I'll manage somehow," she said, "Do you want to eat too?

- I'll say no, I have time to eat. Besides, unlike you, I'm not such a fanatical pizza lover that I need to eat it every day," I said.

- Suit yourself, I'll have more," she said as she continued to eat.

After that, I spent some more time with the girl before leaving. But after a couple of hours I realised that I couldn't wait any longer. I had to get on the road and check everything out. It's a big deal.

So I was soon in the hangar and got on the plane that would take me to San Francisco. The plane itself was military, but there was no sense in making such an extravagant landing as last time. There was also a military base there where we were to arrive.

Well, let's get going! Though I hope I was just making up my own mind, but with my luck it could only get worse....
